I know this blog is usually all about us. Our outfits, our shoes, our skincare. And trust me, I’m not done with any of that. But, since my recent post on Best Amazon Men’s Clothes, I have been getting a steady stream of messages asking me about the other brands Joe shops.

Whether it’s your husband, your brother, your grown son, or a guy friend who is fashion-challenged and proud of it, this one is for them. (Or more accurately, it’s for you to send to them with a little nudge and a “Please read this.”)

Here’s the thing about men over 50 and shopping: most of them have been wearing the same brands for twenty years and see absolutely nothing wrong with that. Loyalty isn’t always a bad thing. But, there’s a difference between classic style and a polo shirt that has been washed so many times it’s a slightly different color than when you bought it.

Today, I’m sharing my honest, husband-approved guide to men’s clothing stores they should be shopping in 2026. These are stores I’ve personally shopped for Joe, or stores I’ve recommended to my readers over the years, with great results. From budget-friendly basics to a few splurge-worthy classics, there is something here for every man on your list or in your house.

P.S. Joe is an incredibly good sport about all of this. He’s learned that when I come home with a bag from a store that isn’t for me, he should just try it on. We’ve both come out winners. Haha!

Budget Friendly Favorite Brands for Men

You don’t have to spend a fortune for him to look nice! I’m a big fan of high-low dressing for myself, and I think the same rule applies to the guys.

Old Navy

What I wore on a date night with my husband
Wrinkle-Free Douro Shirt (XL) | Boot-Cut Built-In Flex Jeans (Size 36×32) | Satin Paisley Wrap Dress (Size 12)

I have to start here because Joe absolutely loves the Old Navy Boot-Cut Jeans. The value here is just unreal. Old Navy has gotten significantly better in recent years, especially for men who want something casual and comfortable without looking sloppy. The fits have modernized, the fabrics have improved, and the sales are absolutely ridiculous in the best way.

Price range: $10 to $50, with sales that frequently take 40 to 50% off

Target

If you’re already at Target, grabbing a new lipstick and some paper towels, take a stroll through the men’s section. Their Goodfellow & Co line is surprisingly stylish. The fits are a bit more tailored than the baggy stuff you find at other big box stores.

Price range: $15 to $50 per piece

Nordstrom Rack

I love a good bargain hunt, and Nordstrom Rack is the place to find those high-end names like Peter Millar or Tommy Bahama for much less. This is where I look for Joe’s “nice” shirts or a good-quality quarter-zip pullover. You have to be patient and dig a little, but the payoff is worth it.

Amazon

I can’t talk about men’s clothing stores without mentioning Amazon. It’s just too easy! The key with Amazon is knowing which brands to trust so you don’t end up with something that looks nothing like the picture.

Price range: $15 to $70 for most everyday pieces

Mid-Range Brands for Quality and Style

Once you’ve got the basics covered, these are the men’s clothing stores that I think really understand how to dress a man of a certain age. They focus on quality fabrics and “smart” details.

UNTUCKit

Merino Wool Quarter-Zip Sweater (XL) | Boot-Cut Built-In Flex Jeans (Size 36×32) | Cotton Blend Sienna Shirt Dress (Size 12)

I have to talk about UNTUCKit because this brand genuinely made me say, “Why did it take so long for someone to figure this out?” The entire concept is shirts designed specifically to be worn untucked. I have bought these for Joe, and the difference is genuinely noticeable. He looks neat and casual at the same time, which is exactly what most men over 50 are going for, whether they know it or not.

Price range: $80 to $130 per shirt, but they run sales regularly, and the quality justifies the price

TravisMathew

Joe’s Outfit: Wrinkle-Free Performance Gironde Shirt Bundle (XL) | Travis Matthews Black WANDERLUST SHORT 9IN (Size 36) | Cole Haan Pinch Tassel Loafer (TTS) Tania’s Outfit: Linen Cotton Shell (Medium) | Linen Blend Travel Ruana (M/L) | ‘Ab’Solution High Waist Jeans (Size 8)

TravisMathew is a fantastic brand to add to your list. They call their style “Southern California lifestyle,” which basically means it’s built for guys who want to go from the golf course to a casual dinner without changing.

The Wanderlust Shorts are one of their most popular items for a reason. They are made with a lightweight micro-ripstop fabric and 4-way stretch, so they move with him rather than feeling restrictive.

Price Range: $60 to $180

Johnnie-O

7″ Surf Shorts

Johnnie-O is one of those brands that, once you see it, you start noticing it everywhere. It has a loyal following for a reason. The brand sits right at the intersection of preppy and relaxed, which sounds like it shouldn’t work but absolutely does. Think elevated golf and resort casual with a California ease to it. The colors are fun without being loud, the fits are flattering, and the quality is genuinely great.

Price range: $60 to $150 for most pieces

Quince

I talk about Quince for women all the time because of their affordable pieces, but did you know their men’s line is fantastic too? Joe has these ProTech Golf Pants in black and sand. He wears them with the Performance Polo when we go out to eat. This is a secret weapon for shopping if you want him in quality pieces without the designer price tag.

Price range: $30 to $100 for most pieces, which is remarkable for the quality

Lands’ End

If your husband is a “buy it once and wear it for ten years” kind of guy, Lands’ End is a staple. They are one of those mens clothing stores that prioritize durability. Their Supima cotton polos are supposed to be incredible. Apparently, the fabric is treated to resist pilling and fading much better than cheaper brands, so they actually stay the shade you bought.

I’m also eyeing their “No-Iron” chinos for Joe. They come with a “50-wash guarantee” to stay wrinkle-free straight from the dryer. Anything that saves me (or him!) from standing over an ironing board is a huge win in my book.

Faherty

Faherty is for the man who says he only wants to wear his pajamas. Their clothes are incredibly soft, but they look like “real” clothes. It’s a bit more of an investment, but the quality is there.

The Legend™ Sweater Shirt is the item that keeps popping up in my research. It’s described as a “hybrid” piece. It looks like a classic, structured button-down, but it is supposed to feel like a soft, cozy blanket.

Price range: $80 to $200+, with sales worth watching for

Vuori

If you want to introduce your guy to the world of “athleisure” without him looking like he’s headed to the high school gym, Vuori is where it’s at.

The Sunday Performance Jogger is a fan favorite because it has a shorter inseam, so there isn’t a bunch of fabric pooling at the ankles. For something a little more “dressed up” but still technical, the Meta Pant looks like a five-pocket chino but feels like workout gear.

Price Range: $58 to $168

Tommy Bahama

If you are planning a trip or just want your man to look like he’s permanently on island time, Tommy Bahama is the ultimate destination. They are one of the best men’s clothing stores for high-quality vacation wear that actually keeps a guy cool in the heat.

Their Silk Camp Shirts are what they are famous for. These aren’t your typical stiff button-downs; they are made from breathable silk or linen blends that drape perfectly and don’t cling when it’s humid.

Price Range: $80 to $250

From Weddings to “The Club”: Joe’s Dressed-Up Edit

When your man needs to look a little more “buttoned up” for a wedding, a nice dinner out, or a special anniversary, these are the men’s clothing stores I always look at first.

Joe wearing a Jos. A. Bank suit

Jos. A. Bank

If he has a wedding or a special event on the calendar and needs a brand new suit, Jos. A. Bank is one of the most practical options out there. Their Traveler Collection suits are made from 100% wool but treated to be wrinkle-resistant and stain-repellent. What makes this a great option is the variety of fits and the on-site tailoring.

Price range: $100 to $500 for suits

Brooks Brothers

You can’t talk about dressing up without mentioning Brooks Brothers. They literally invented the button-down collar!

If Joe needs a classic Non-Iron Dress Shirt, this is the gold standard. They use high-quality Supima cotton that stays crisp and virtually wrinkle-free all day. They offer several fits, so if he prefers more room, their “Traditional” fit is much more forgiving than the “slim” styles you see everywhere else.

Peter Millar

For a “country club” dressy look, Peter Millar is hard to beat. They carry everything from polos and pullovers to nice jackets and blazers.

The Crown Soft Cotton polo is the place to start. It is one of their signature pieces, and the colors they offer every season are eye-catching. Start with a classic color and go from there.

Price range: $80 to $250+, with sales worth watching for

Quick Tips for Modernizing His Look

You’ve got the list of men’s clothing stores, now here are a few things to keep in mind while you’re “helping” him browse.

Watch the Length

Most men wear their pants way too long. If there’s a giant pile of fabric at his ankles, he’s going to look shorter and sloppier. Take those jeans to a tailor and have them hemmed to a “slight break.” It costs about fifteen dollars and makes a huge difference in how he looks.

Ditch the Cargo Pockets

Unless he is literally hiking through the woods and needs to carry a compass and a snack, he does not need cargo pockets. They add bulk to the legs and look very dated. A nice pair of flat-front chinos or a clean pair of jeans is just as comfortable and a thousand times more stylish.

The Shoe Situation

Please, let’s look at his shoes. If he’s still wearing the same chunky white sneakers he used to mow the lawn when you go out to dinner, it’s time for an intervention. A nice pair of leather sneakers or a classic loafer can change his entire outfit.

Making Him Comfortable and Stylish

At the end of the day, your guy just wants to be comfortable. The trick is showing him that he can be comfortable and look great at the same time. Start with one or two new pieces and see if he notices the compliments. Usually, once they realize people are noticing how nice they look, they’re much more willing to let us help!
