AS FAR AS YOU ARE ABLE
I am working my way through Romans and this week I found this jewel –
Romans 12:16-19 English Standard Version (ESV)
16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly.[a] Never be wise in your own sight. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
I love that the Lord included the caveat – so far as it depends on you! Gurls, I admit that sometimes when I watch the news, I get discouraged. It feels like the whole world is about to come unglued, and there’s not a thing I can do to stop it. But the Lord doesn’t require me to figure out world peace, He just asks that so far as it depends on ME, live peaceably. You know what? I can do that.
I can choose PEACE when someone at work stirs trouble.
I can choose PEACE when a family member is at odds with me.
I can choose PEACE in my house, my neighborhood, my work, with my friends, and in my church.
How? How do we find peace in the midst of turmoil?
I may not always succeed, but I am at my most peaceful when I spend time with the Prince of Peace. Time spent with the Prince of Peace = more peace to give the people in my life.
I hope you have a week of living, as far as YOU are able, at peace with everyone.
Beautiful and just what I needed to be reminded of this week!
This was a word in due season for me. I think this blog is your ministry.
Thank you for the good words. So needed lately!
Our pastor’s sermon today included these verses , I think the Lord is trying to tell me something! In this world of hurt and turmoil, I choose to live in peace! Thank you.
Just sat down to read your blog, this really hit home to me today! Thank you!!
Love this post! Happy Sunday!
Amen! Well said!
I love all of your posts. With that being said, your Sunday posts are my favorite and today’s was great! I think your hair is so pretty especially in the celebrating 100 years post with the blue dress from Cato’s. Could we have a look at the back of your hair. Planning to chop two or so inches off my hair soon n need some ideas.
Thanks and enjoy every minute with your family!
Good Word!!!
Great Sunday post! Praying you feel betters and your Pa had a great birthday!
goodness sakes, Gurl 🙂 you should write a devotional!!! I’m serious!!! I love your posts… but your Sunday posts… well, they have got to be my favorite!! Thank you for pointing us to such great things – I’m having a tough season,,, and these words are sooooo helpful!!! Don’t ever underestimate the power you have for Christ… we are listening…you are spurring us … headed for the “prize” with ya’ sister <3
Tania, I would like to say thank you for this message. It came at the right time, it is good to be reminded of things we need to be doing and why.
You are a special person and I am thankful to have come across your blogs.
I so needed to hear these words today. Thank you for sharing your faith in your thoughts and actions. I’m struggling to understand the loss of a friends 15 year old and in the midst of this tragedy, trying to understand why our world is so unsettled. I’m referring to your post to when I get discouraged. These words are filled withhope and love. . Thank you and God bless you.
I go to church regularly and confess I do it more for love and respect of my Irish catholic husband than for what I get out of it. At times, I feel the same religious institutions are at best “preachy” and clicky and at worst perverse in their belief they hold the absolute truth about everything. Your thoughts this Sunday in particular are so timely, I will save your image about peace to see in my desktop and be reminded that some things are in our control. Blessings to you and yours!
Hi Tania. New to your blog but really enjoy it. I especially like your Sunday inspirations. This is spot on for our world & ourselves. Thanks. It was good way to start my day.
Some of my fav verses! And I love the pic w that Bible verse above the hills! Peace be unto you, my friend!
Amen and thank you for another wonderful Sunday message . Peace be with you Tania . Enjoy your Sunday?
You’ve given us another great reminder that we, individually, can find the light of inner peace even in troubling times. I look forward to reading your Sunday inspirational messages and thank you for taking the time to share them.
Interestingly, the first tune I heard early this morning was from the Beatles, featuring Paul McCartney’s ‘Let It Be’ and his lyrics so resonated with me I felt compelled to share a couple of stanzas:
‘And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree – there will be an answer – Let It Be. For though they may be parted, there is still a chance that they will see – There will be an answer – Let it be.
But I’ll have to admit, the last stanza is the one I personally took to heart: ‘And when the night is cloudy – there is still a light that shines on me – shine until tomorrow – Let it Be’.
Thanks for the wonderful reminders. We can always take the high/better road for ourselves and others. Blessings to your family. Safe travels for you all when you all head your different ways.
Amen, Tania! Well said!
Perfect words for me this morning. Like you, I sometimes feel frustrated with all that’s happening in our world right now. And I’m dealing with a particular family member that works my last nerve at times! I will try to have grace and patience….and peace.
Love it!
I always look forward to your Sunday message
Gives me comfort.

Thanks for your words. Someone attacked me today with their words and it’s troubled me all day . This is what I needed to hear. I need to put it behind me and choose peace. She isn’t in my life anymore and I need to let go of her hurtful words and find peace
I always look forward to your posts, but especially your Sunday messages. Are you using ancertain plan to go through Romans? It’s so full of what we all need.
