Now that Spring has sprung, I am starting to have Spring Fever. I found myself wanting to wash the front porch and get the dust and dirt off it accumulated over the winter months. The spring wreath that has been packed away needs to be called back into action, and the temperature settings in the house need to be lowered.

Joe is starting to have a case of Spring Fever also. Besides getting his golf swing down-pat, he has been looking at places to visit. I think that the looooong COVID year has finally gotten to him, and he is ready to hit the road. We haven’t been out of the county over a few times in the past year, so a vacation is way overdue.

Joe also had our lawnmower serviced, and he has already mowed our backyard. Winter can make your yard look shaggy, so he couldn’t wait to hop on the mower and get it all trimmed up. I dread “yard day,” which is when we spend the whole day picking up branches and limbs that have fallen during the winter. Plus, and trash and boxes that have blown into the yard need to be thrown away.

Some events seem to happen during the Spring of the year. Last year, many of these events got shut down, but things have loosened up some, so I see more events in all of our future. I think that Easter, graduations, weddings, showers, and Mother’s Day celebrations will be happening this year, and you will need a dress to wear.

To help you look your best at these events, I am bringing you several different outfits that I think will work for you. I also wanted to bring you affordable options since most of us haven’t been wearing dresses in the past year. All of these dresses are under $50.00, and each of them is gorgeous.

I admit that I am partial to this look. Black and white is a classic combination, and this dress and blazer outfit is sure to impress. I can see wearing this outfit out to eat, a summer wedding, bridal shower, graduation, Easter, and Mother’s Day. In other words, this outfit works for almost any occasion.

This white double-breasted blazer is very figure-flattering. It creates curves where curves don’t exist. I love the double-breasted style that features the large silver-tone buttons. This style jacket makes anything that you pair it with look sharp! I love wearing this style jacket with jeans and a t-shirt, and it looks like a million bucks.

I made the mistake of ordering a size large in this jacket, and it is way too big on me. The jacket is pinned in the back to take the photos, but I’ll be sending it back and getting a medium instead.

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing an affordable strapless dress that is black and white with a double breasted blazer from Express

Y’all, this fun and flirty strapless black and white maxi dress is so perfect for most occasions. Normally, I am not a fan of anything strapless because I am afraid that it might fall down. But, the smocking is nice and tight, and it didn’t move at all while we were taking photos. I wore the dress with a white blazer, but you could wear any color with the dress you want. It would be cute to add a cardigan in a “boy” or “girl” color if you were going to a baby shower.

I am wearing a medium in the dress, and I think that it fits great. The dress is unlined but not see-through, so I didn’t wear a slip with it.

Look how cutesy this colorblocked dress is! The color combination is awesome, and coral and bubblegum pink look great together. This is a cute dress to take on vacation, especially since the fabric is crinkly and wrinkled. You wouldn’t have to worry about ironing this since the fabric is supposed to look crinkled.

I added a stretchy belt that I’ve had for a while because the dress has an elastic waist. I don’t like seeing an elastic waist, so I will usually try to add a belt to hide it if I can. This exact belt isn’t available, but I found several that are almost identical. A neutral belt like this is great for spring and summer, so I highly suggest you take a look at these.

Whoops, I forgot to tell you about the sizing. I am wearing a medium in the dress, and I think it is a great fit.

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing an striped midi-dress that is coral, ivory, and beige with an orange cardigan, a caramel tote, and kitten heels

This striped midi-tank dress is figure-hugging, but it sure does make you look long and lean. I was scared to try this dress on, but I finally got up the nerve, and I was pleasantly surprised. Because I don’t have curves, this dress looks better than expected.

Adding a cardigan to the outfit (very old) helped to give the illusion of curves. I wish that I had put on shapewear; that would have created a slimmer silhouette also. The color combinations are gorgeous, and I love the different size stripes. Because I was afraid of how tight this dress would fit, I ordered a large. The dress is very stretchy, so it will expand to fit all figures.

The biggest drawback that I have with this dress is the thin straps. It is hard to keep your bra straps from showing with straps this thin. If you are wearing a cardigan, then you don’t have to worry about that issue.

I think that this cute, flirty, and flowy dress would be perfect for the beach. This would make the cutest coverup to throw on and grab something to eat. This dress is somewhat shorter than the others, but I think that adding a little flirtiness and sexiness to your outfits is good for your mindset. We may not be twenty anymore, but we are still alive and vibrant, so we need to act like it!

Remember that the way a dress looks on a website isn’t always the best representation. Brands pick extremely young models, and they tend to be around 6ft tall. So, where a dress hits a model’s legs isn’t where it will hit your legs. I am 5’6″ tall, so this will give you a better idea of gauging the length on you. As you can see, the dress is plenty long in the back, and I am fully covered, and I don’t feel exposed at all. I’m wearing a medium in the dress, and it fits me great.

I wanted to show you a close-up of the dress pattern and the fluffy white tassels. I added a very old white belt to the dress to hide the elastic waist. However, this belt is too big for me, and it kept slipping down. Lol! I do think that a white belt is really pretty for spring and summer, so while I am looking for a new one for myself, I’ll share those options with you.

This floral midi-dress has plenty of volume to the skirt, and the bodice is smocked for a tight fit. I love the sleeves’ volume, and for those who don’t like showing your upper arm, this is a great dress. I was worried that the smocking might make the dress show my rolls, so I ordered a large. The dress seems to fit me fine, and a medium would have probably worked, but the large looks good too.

The dress has a deep v-neck which elongates your neckline and creates a longer, leaner look. If the deep v is too revealing for you, then I would suggest adding a cami under it to hide your cleavage. A pretty yellow one would be cute, but I try to keep a neutral cami on hand if I don’t have something that matches the print. The floral design print is small but beautiful, and I think it is prettier in person than it looks on the website.

The caramel tote handbag looks expensive even though it isn’t. The handbag is faux-leather, and it is in a stylish and classic shape. I love all of the different compartments that keep all my stuff separated and easy to find.

Let me know what you thought about these dresses and if you have any plans this Spring.

I am celebrating this month because it is Joe’s Birthday month. He told me that I couldn’t make a big deal out of his birthday. I don’t think that announcing for the entire world to see is making a big deal. Lol! So, randomly, each week, I am going to pick a winner for a gift. The gifts will vary in size and price, and I will pick the winner from the comments that I receive during the week.

This week’s winner is…..Deborah!!! Keep commenting, and you might be next week’s winner.
