A SUMMERTIME OUTFIT
The other day when I told you that I had nothing to talk about someone commented that I could talk about dinner and it would still be entertaining. You know that I took that as a challenge, right? So, let’s talk about dinner or supper, whichever you call it. Here at my house, the two words are used the same and they both mean the meal we eat after we get home from work.
Friday and sometimes Saturday nights are “I don’t have to cook” nights. Sometimes we go out of the house to eat, sometimes we go pick up something and bring it back home to eat, and sometimes we scrounge. Scrounging is when we stand and look in the refrigerator for minutes on end just looking for something to eat. My problem is side dishes. I always have some kind of meat available but I just can’t seem to keep side dishes on hand. I like something that I can fix one night and it lasts for a couple of nights. I hate to cook! This week I made a huge bowl of pasta salad that was delish. That is the kind of dishes I need EXCEPT I really need something a little better on the waist line. YEP, I want recipe’s from you. They must be easy, simple, taste good, and diet friendly. How hard could this be? Lol!
Until I start on a diet and lose a little weight I guess I will just wear tops like this one from Lisa Rinna. This top has many nice details like the little silver bar at the neckline. Even the little key hole opening is a flattering detail. The top is oversized but the way it lays on your body keeps it from looking like a box. The top is on sale and comes in several colors.
Because I was wearing white pants I decided to add the white drop earrings from Plunder Design. These earrings have a 3″ drop and are extremely lightweight. All of these earrings in this style are only 8.00 each. You need to stock up on several colors, like red, black, white, navy, ivory, and pink. That way you only have to pay the shipping costs once. These make really cute presents to keep on hand or start stocking up on your Christmas presents early.
This Colleen necklace has turned into one of my favorites simply because it is so versatile to wear. It looks great with silver or gold, it is a great length, and I do love monogrammed items. Lol!
I have on two bracelets on my left hand. The Lucinda pearl bracelet has a mixture of floral designs. (I found a way to sneak in florals Hahaha!) The other bracelet is a little hard to see. It is the Leslie. It says Bless on the face and it has red hearts printed around that. It also has some red beads that are on the chain.
My Dooney & Bourke purse has a few wet spots still visible. Lol! It rained last night so I set my fern out in the rain to be watered. I moved it back to its normal spot when I got ready to take pictures. I didn’t even think about it being wet and I brushed up against it and got my purse all wet. Thankfully it is drying without leaving spots. I love this style purse because it has separate compartments and it is big enough to carry all my necessary items in.

You know when you put a post on FaceBook you wait to see if you will get any “likes” or “hearts?” That is how I feel about my blog. Leaving a comment and pinning a picture to Pinterest is my equivalent to a “like.” If you share my post on FaceBook that is a “heart.” Show me some love, gurls!!!
The comment section is at the end of the post, so keep scrolling. I look forward to reading all the comments, they make my day. Be sure to follow me on Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.

I love that top! The color, the cut, the details… just everything!
I’m the WORST with side dishes. I usually just keep the freezer stocked with steamable bags of veggies for sides. I do enjoy Paula Deen’s corn, avocado, and tomato salad ( http://www.pauladeen.com/corn-avocado-and-tomato-salad ) but unfortunately it doesn’t save very well because of the avocado.
Hey you’re not too heavy and you always. Look gorgeous! Ill send you my recipe for broccoli salad.
A favorite side of ours for summer is a bowl of berries! I get raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and strawberries and mix them up in a bowl! The only berries you have to cut up are the strawberries. Wash all under cold water in a colander and put them in a big bowl. Mix them all up, cover with Saran, and store in the fridge. They last a few days. Healthy and yummy side dish.
I love my white jeans. However, within 10 minutes of leaving the house I always end up with a spot of something on them. I’ve started carrying around SHOUT packets in my purse. LOL
Hi Tania, you look amazing! I’m always anxious to read your next post. I love white everything! Especially for summer. My problem is that most of my wardrobe are solid tops. Recently, I bought a few floral print blouses and was reluctant to wear them, but i did pair them with white trousers and received many nice compliments. I think I’ll go shopping for more. Lol. I too am not to fond of cooking, so my wonderful husband takes over dinner and bar-b-ques some terrific chicken over mesquite wood, living in Texas, thats what we do. My sides consists of veggies in a bag. Just pop the bag in microwave for 5 minutes. Vegetables come out so bright and juicy and delicious! You can never go wrong. Or my son’s favorite…cooked ramon noodles, served as pasta. Serve them without the broth. But make it healthy by adding your own seasoning or just add butter to them. This is making me hungry. Lol.
I have a lot of solid tops, too. That is where really cute jewelry and scarves really change the look. I’ll have to try the ramen noodles that way. I always loved the noodles but shied away from it because of the sodium of the broth pack.
If you like zucchini, cut some up in longish chunks, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with seasonings and bake in a toaster oven at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes. It’s easier than pan frying and more tasty than microwaved. It keeps for several days and reheats well.
Yes, I love zucchini. That sounds like a way of fixing it that even I could do. Lol!
Hi Tania!
Cucumber salad is so refreshing in this heat. Slice cukes and red onion…add a bit of sugar, some white vinegar, and dill to taste. The cucumbers stay crisp for quite a while. As always, you look lovely.
That sounds good, Julia, but I will have to substitute cherry tomatoes for the onion. I love cooked onions but I can’t stand a raw onion.
I’m interested in your jewelry. How can I buy it?
Marcia, you will love the plunder jewelry. You go to http://www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens and pick on the party with my name in it.
I am going out today to look for bargains on white jeans and shorts. My daughter is getting married on a cruise in Sept, and I need some cute things to wear. ?
My husband and I have sushi every Friday night. We either pick up & bring home, or we go there to eat. We have been going to our favorite little sushi restaurant every Fri night for 13 years. They are awesome. If we are out of town, or miss a Fri night, they get worried about us. Lol. Sat night is snack night. We usually have some kind of frozen snacky items on hand. Then we go down to our basement movie room and watch a movie, or start a new Netflix series. Sun thru Thurs my husband usually cooks. He travels a lot, but has a home office. So, when he is home he can get a head start on dinner before I get home. He is a good cook, so I’m a lucky girl!
Joe and I love sushi also but we don’t have a lot to choose from. When we were in Alaska we went to a restaurant that had ah-mazing sushi.
Well, so much for my vow to not buy anymore clothes this summer- I just ordered two of the tops you are wearing! It was first introduced two years ago and I liked it then, so what the heck! I’m excited to get some new side dish recipes. I too hate to cook: I don’t like messing up my kitchen!
Talk about anything you want, Tania. I’ll be here to read it every morning. Happy Saturday ?
Nancy, those tops are on sale so it just made sense to buy two. Lol!!!
