A SIMPLE BLACK & WHITE OUTFIT FOR A CLASSIC LOOK

Black & White has to be one of the most popular and classic color combinations. Black & white is chic, stylish, and elegant. You can choose to wear solid colors like I did today, or you can mix it up with prints which can be fun. I’ll show you later in this post a few ways that I’ve styled this color combination in the past, and they are still modern-looking years later.

My outfit today starts with a white top and a black bottom. This works for my body shape, but if you have broad shoulders, you might want to wear a black top instead. The white top will make your shoulders show up more, and the black bottoms will make your hips recede, so this would be a good look for those with a pair-shaped body.

Fashions can be worn by everyone; we just have to figure out the best option for your body.

Some of you have been missing my Joe stories. I don’t know if Joe has been behaving lately or if I just can’t remember her antics. I had these photos pop up in my Facebook memories, and I couldn’t help adding them so that all of you guys can get an idea of what I married.

When you marry someone who has the nickname “Honky Tonk,” you kinda know what you are getting. LOL!!! I bet this explains a lot.

Like the post I did last week where I talked about choosing clothing that has unique details, this white-button down has a couple of details that I want to point out. The shirt’s cuffs are embroidered with an interlocking C logo, there is a small embroidered black line at the last button on the shirt, and there is a dotted black line on the collar and the cuffs. Those are small details, but they really elevate the look of the shirt.

This classic white shirt is made of wrinkle-resistant fabric with a little stretch. I usually wear a size 1 in shirts from Chico’s, but I decided to size up to a 1.5 in this shirt. I wanted a somewhat loose fit, and the 1.5 worked for me. A classic white shirt can be worn for years, and I plan an upcoming post on different ways to wear a white button-down.

Here is a good look at the interlocking C logo, and you can see a tiny bit of the black dotted detail on the cuff. It also gives you a good look at the mixed-metal jewelry that I’ve worn several times before. The multi-strand necklace is a true statement necklace and will get a lot of wear from it.

The matching bracelet is just as versatile, and I especially love the chains that look like fringe. That is a cute detail, and I love the movement it creates. My earrings are also mixed-metal, and they are a great medium-sized hoop.

Whoops, I can’t forget these Quay (pronounced key) gradient sunglasses. They are so cute and very CHIC-looking. Small items like these sunglasses can make a huge difference in the overall look of your outfit. Plus, they make you feel like a movie star. Lol!

The black part of my black & white outfit is the So-Slimming Girlfriend Jeans. I love the long, lean look of these jeans, and they make my legs look like they go on forever. The Girlfriend style is one that I’ve loved for a while, and it is even more popular now that a relaxed look is trending. Boyfriend jeans can be too baggy on me, but girlfriend jeans have a relaxed fit without looking sloppy.

The So-Slimming tummy panel is great for giving you a little extra help in the stomach region, and it helps to create a slimmer look. I need all of the help I can get, so these jeans get a big thumbs up from me. I am wearing my usual size 1 in these jeans, and they fit me great.

I’ve had these black pumps for years, and I still love wearing them. You can wear classic items for years, and it doesn’t look dated. My pumps are a pair by Coach, but I’ll link similar pumps for you in different styles.

 

Here is a way to wear black & white with black on the top and white on the bottom. Can you see the difference in how the width of the shoulders looks? Below are similar items that you could use to recreate this look:

How about this look with black & white both being on the top. I incorporated light jeans on the bottom, but the focus is the black & white top. All of the items in this look are already sold out, but I’ll try and find similar ones.

A black & white outfit can be one item. This black & white dress is super cute with its bridle and bit print. I loved the contrasting cuff and collar…small details!
