A MOTO JACKET WITHOUT ALL THE WEIGHT
I should know by now to quit making plans. Remember yesterday when I mentioned that my daughter was on her way home and I couldn’t wait to see her? Well, it turns out, that I could wait for after all. She has come down with a head cold, and she said she was feeling tired because she didn’t get any sleep the night before. Plus, she is congested in her head, and she said that she was a little dizzy. DON’T drive when you are feeling dizzy.
I am beginning to think that my daughter is just trying to torment me. I don’t know why that would shock me since she has been doing that since she was a child. Lol! And, to try and drive me even crazier than I already am, she is talking about getting a stinking dog again. Don’t get me wrong, I love dogs, but she doesn’t have a clue where she is going to be living, working or anything else in a year. I tried pointing out that it was not fair to be yanking a dog around and that she needed to wait until she was settled and then we would talk about it. I swear you would think that she is Emersyn’s age instead of a woman in her early 30’s because you can not reason with her. After reading this, you ought to feel better about YOUR children. Hahaha! If you would like to adopt a headstrong, independent, totally unreasonable young lady, please let me know. Just asking for a friend. Lol!!!
I love the look of a moto jacket, but I have never been a fan of how stick and heavy the leather ones can be. My neck bothers me when I have something heavy on the back of it, and that includes a jacket or a coat. This moto jacket has a rugged look that I like, but it is a cotton-blend knit, so it is not near as heavy. It still has all of the style of a moto jacket including the asymmetrical zipper. I love that this is a hand wash and lay flat to dry item because I am not one to go to the dry cleaners (I don’t have one) very often. This jacket fits true to size, and I am wearing a size large.
The Promise necklace from Plunder Design jewelry features three strands of silver rods and disks on a black cord. This necklace takes all of the guesswork out of layering a necklace and makes it look effortless. I paired it with the Sam earrings which are no longer available because I was too lazy to look for my hammered silver earrings called Myra. Lol! The bracelet is not available either, so I don’t know why I even bothered to show you what I was wearing. Here are some styles that would work instead.

When I am purchasing a bag, I look for the weight of the bag. If it is too heavy, it will bother my shoulder when carrying it. I love cross pouches and if they are made of leather, that is a plus. I don’t like cheap purses or ones made of cloth or nylon.
Thanks for all the great looking ones you show us each day. Love your blog!!
Great bag! It would go with just about every outfit!
Mercer bag 🙂
There is nothing about this purse I don’t LOVE!
Love the snakeskin purse. It goes really well with your outfit.
I, too like large totes. My sister calls my purses “feed bags”! LOL!
I love this handbag. The whole look is great!!
The one thing in a purse that is a must for me is outside pockets….I can’t stand having to open a purse to get my keys or phone out..it is just so inconvenient and time consuming. Now mind you I have bought plenty without this feature and I tell myself that the other features it might have will compensate for the lack of an outside pocket….but these purses will always get regulated to my closet or spare bedroom and I end up not using them. It pains me to purge beautiful purses but I have to every so often because hubby gives me the evil eye if I am buying another one and there are 8 in my closet lol.
I have one I recently purchased that is being delivered on Monday that your daughter may like. It is by Ivy and Fig..and it is vegan…yep a vegan purse. Found the company on Instagram. I didn’t purchase the purse because of that particular reason ..I just liked the purse. My 91 year old mother has moved in with me. She has dementia. For safety reasons I carry her wallet with me now. So i have my wallet, her wallet, and all the normal stuff I carry ….all while trying to put her walker in and out of my vehicle! I needed a sturdy and slightly larger purse than what I had on hand.
I picked the Olivia too…just in a different color.
So glad I found your blog. As an added bonus for me I am totally in love with the mountains and try to get there as often as I can . We love Fancy Gap and the surrounding area. Hoping to convince Hubby to move there one day.
Love the Moto jacket. It looks light, but warm. That handbag goes perfect with the look. Beautiful bag!
I have had my eye on a few different pairs of grey jeans, but haven’t been able to find a pair I like, but I really like the look of these. I am sold! To Old Navy. As for the purse, I like the idea of the removable crossbody, and I would probably wear it in the Hobo style. I think I still like the “Bastet in Love” purse from yesterday’s post.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Mercer…any of them
A handbag must have some small pockets placed either one on the outside for cell phone, and some on the inside for lipstick, extra gum, and lotion!
Was so hard to choose between the Mercer” Hair Calf Leather Whipstitch Shopper Tote in brown, the Mercer Hair Calf leather Whipstitch crossbody in brown, or the Mighty Olivia Leather Convertable Backpack/Hobo Crossbody in ALL four colors! WhT a truly fantastic giveaway! ??
Really cute outfit, one of my favorites! I’d love to win the Mercer tote!
Like the gray jacket love the versatile purse!
I would LOVE the Silver Metallic Hair Calf!!! I am looking for my first gray purse and this would be so lovely! If I win it, it will be the nicest purse I have ever owned.
This year my hair has silvered enough for me to make gray one of my primary neutrals. I have a very light warm complexion, so this is a whole new world to me. I’m working on a gray “pod” and now have a gray pair of corduroy pants, 2 gray base layers, 4 gray sweaters, a gray cardigan, and a pair of gray ankle boots. I still want some loafers, a purse, and maybe a jacket to finish off my collection. I think next year I’ll look for a new coat in that color as well.
I’m working on being able to post my outfits on Instagram, I would definitely show off that purse!! Thanks for doing this give away, that is very generous of you to do.
I know you are so happy to have your daughter near you again. May you delight in discovering new facets of each other. Nowadays, it seems that even food has become political. There are usually so many dishes served at this annual holiday that having a few vegan ones would not be a big deal. That way everyone gets to have their favorites and maybe try something new too.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!!
These bags are all so lovely. How is a girl to choose? 🙂
Pockets on the outside for phone, keys, etc. so I don’t have to dig is a must for a handbag!
SILVER METALLIC HAIR CALF TOTE is the bomb!
What I look for in most bags is a zip close top. I don’t like when the bag can flip open and show everything inside! ?
I look for roominess, pockets, color, and price.
Love this bag!!!
I’ve never thought about grey jeans but those look fantastic on you!
I like a handbag with lots of room and a zipper closure to keep everything contained, especially when I brake too hard and it falls off the passenger seat onto the floor!!
In a handbag, I look for room enough to carry my MacBook with me. Just found you on Pinterest and your blog! I love your style and I would wear everything. Thanks for being there for us 50’s!
I like when there are organization elements to,the handbag! Love the one you are showing in the blog today!
I’m so picky about purses! It has to meet several details before I will buy it. 1. quality material, it’s useless if it starts falling apart easily 2. It has to hang on my shoulder comfortably and not slide down my arm constantly 3. Must have a pocket to hold my phone so I don’t have to dig for it. 4. Have a size proportionate to my body, not too small to make it look ridiculous and not too large to exaggerate my waist and make me look like a bag lady. I really like this snakeskin purse and love that moto jacket! I’m like you, Tania, heavy coats and jackets hurt my neck. Hope your daughter is feeling better quickly and gets home to you soon.
Hello Tania. I love large handbags so I really want pockets and it must rest comfortably on my shoulder. Love the two bags you have shown us! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Carla
My handbags must be crossbody…very important ever since the time I was robbed inside a local grocery store while my purse was sitting in the ‘basket’ next to the handle bar.
I love a bag that has pockets on the outside ti put cell and keys, also color and sturdy handles and soft leather.
I love your Mighty Olivia bag! How clever. I often lean toward bags with practical cross-body or shoulder straps. Anyway, I hope your daughter feels better soon – and gets there hence quick. It has been agonizing slow, awaiting her arrival for sure! I dearly hope it’s in time for Thanksgiving!
A matching wallet ?
Gotta have an outside pocket for easy access to the phone. I prefer zipper closure, and like multiple pockets on the inside. ?
I travel a lot! I look for a handbag that makes me look like a million bucks, even when I have jet lag-and has pockets!
I love a handbag that zips to be closed!
Another beautiful bag today! I tend to gravitate towards larger bags, so I always look for one with both inside and outside pockets so I can find my phone and keys easily. A zippered closure is another must have.
Love a beautiful color and inside zip pocket!
I like a roomy bag without dividers!
Love the gray jacket. I did not see the purse in snakeskin yesterday or the removable pouch. Love it! I also look for a comfortable should strap that will stay on and a soft leather. I need the purse to be light so I can put more stuff in it! LOL
Love the snakeskin bag! I look for a shoulder bag and I love a tote style bag. Something big enough to fit all my must haves in!!
I love outside pockets for my phone and keys.
The most important consideration about a new bag for me would be the material it’s made out of. Good quality made bags will last a lifetime. I love your outfit today!
You look so cute in this outfit, love the jacket.
Wow, that bag really makes your outfit pop! Love the moto jacket too. Re purses, size and weight are big factors for me–not too big, not too heavy. I’d probably use the smaller snakeskin bag as a crossbody the most. Hope Ashleigh feels better soon! And waits on the dog!!!!
I look for purse with lots of pockets that is roomy on inside love your outfit today,
Hi Tania! Three out of four of my kids are in their twenties, the other is still a teenager, so I understand kids being headstrong. We can only say so much, right? They’ll do what they want to do. I’m learning to say, “I’m sure you’ll figure it out.” 🙂 I’m still learning!!! Lol I look for a bag with an inside pocket for my cell phone. It also needs to feel good on my shoulder.
Actually that bag didn’t resonate when I viewed their site yesterday. First, I couldn’t get a view of the silver snake so I didn’t see that color. Also thought it was bulky until I saw you remove the front and got a good look at purse without the pouch…then I liked it and love the two for one capabilities…actually it’s a three for one, which is even better!! Sorry your daughter is under the weather…sending prayers for a speedy recovery and safe trip to mama.
I have a daughter just like yours!
I love that bag!! The factor I look for is size. I don’t want to carry a suitcase, but I also don’t want something too small and won’t fit all my things in it. This snakeskin bag is the perfect size!
Style, color, pop, versatility.
I look for purses with compartments, separate pockets for my keys and phone, and a light colored interior so I can actually see what is inside the purse. Soft leather as opposed to hard leather or material. I’m pretty picky about purses and feel the perfect purse has not been invented yet! Lol!
I love your outfit today, very stylish and looks great on you! I love the bags you are spotlighting, so far yesterdays was my favorite♡ I gravitate towards larger bags but absolutely must have a area to store my phone, a pocket, a lot, divider etc. Otherwise I am digging and by the time I find it, the call has ended. I’m sorry you were disappointed that your daughter didnt make it home…
There are so many things I look for in a bag, but #1 is versatility. As in: will this work with many of my current outfits? No more Diva bags for me — you know, the bag where you have to build the outfit around it. LOVE this versatile snakeskin bag AND the necklace.
I love these handbags and the innovative details like the detachable clutch! My number one “must- have” in every bag is a pouch for phone and eyeglasses! I tried three times to comment yesterday but my internet was down and it would not send. But my favorite bag from Shariff is the one you styled yesterday! However, I love your outfit today too and that purse looks adorable w that very flattering moto jacket! Great choices! So sorry about A-Ashleigh being sick and delayed!! But you are SO blessed to have your daughter coming to stay w you and your son next door always!! (my daughter hasnt been to my house in 10 yrs.)?? Maybe Ashleigh will get a cute little dog who plays w yours and he won’t be lonely.
I look for organization & something not too big or too small.
A handbag that has both a longer handle for over the shoulder and a short handle to carry.
I look for compartments! Not just one big area where everything gets jumbled together! Love that removable crossbody!
Lightweight is important….and that it can open and close easily….Love this purse too!!!
One thing I looked for in a handbag…. versatility since I do not tend to change bags that often. I really like a crossbody as it forces me to carry a bit less and is easier on my shoulders at this stage of life!!! LOL. Tanya saw ur video and man I can’t keep up with all your organization and things to carry!!! Never thought of a magnet LOL
Also, I look for a zipper close and inside pockets in a purse.
Good morning! This snakeskin purse is fantastic! I don’t think ‘snakeskin’ when I look for a handbag, but this works SO well! When I do look for a handbag, I look to see if it carries well (other than looks of course)… can I toss it on my shoulder easily, or if it’s a crossbody, does it hang in the right spot….. Plus I like really soft leather! Have a great day and thanks for the morning blog!
Love the jacket and jewellery. Very well put together…as always!
Love the snakeskin bag. I always look for pockets in a handbag. You can never have too many
I always look for a pocket for the iPhone, and for lipstick. I usually don’t carry a large purse, but I am loving that snakeskin bag!!
Love the outfit!
i look for inside pockets and a zipper closer. I don’t like pocketbooks that stay open and everything falls out if dropped.
Long straps for over the shoulder.
I love a bag that is made from good leather and not heavy!
By the way, what color lipstick do you have on?
The one thing I look for is inside pockets.
The one thing I usually look for in a handbag is versatility while still being attractive. I’m so glad you showcased this one today because I wondered what it would look like in person, being both a hobo and a backpack. I didn’t realize that the pouch could be used as a crossbody. That really is versatile. 3 in 1.
I always look for something with fun details. I don’t always want to wear clothing with a wow factor so I look for a bag with a wow factor, that’s why I chose the snake skin bucket bag yesterday. Love the Moto jacket!!
Handbags, for me, have to have a few interior pockets. I love to use them for my phone, keys and pens. Happy Thanksgiving~
Love the bag and the jacket! I look for a zipper closure or a magnetic closure. AND of course something with a “different” look.
I wear my gray jeans a lot more than I thought I would.? My pocketbook needs a bit of whimsy to it first. Then, I tend to see how it feels on my shoulder, don’t need the extra pain/weight with autoimmune issues!?
LOVE the moto jacket! The most necessary item in my purse is pockets and dividers.
Big & spacious with compartments and zippers to keep me organized, the option to hand carry it or hook it on my shoulder.
I like a purse to be sturdy, but lightweight and stylish too!
I always look for a handbag that will hang from my shoulder. Preferably flat handles rather than rounded. Rounded seems to roll right off my shoulder.
I love this look!! The jacket is really cute!!!
I look for pockets so that I can easily find things that I use a lot.
Love this look! In bags size matters. I need something that is not to small but also not the dark abyss where you put keys in never to found again.
I look for how a handbag closes, I prefer one that just snaps – no zippers or flaps that fold over. That’s too much trouble. This one is gorgeous!
Zippers to keep contents inside!
I like pockets in the interior of my handbags…for all my goodies that I carry daily.
How can todays bag be any cuter than yesterdays?? I look for organization in a handbag. Must have the right compartments so that it is functional and I can find my “stuff”!
I love all styles and sizes of handbags. One is just not enough! I just look for one that calls to me and so many do!
Pockets for organization
I look for a hand bag that will work with multiple outfits!
I look for a bag that’s real leather, none of that “pleather” for me — that’s my one thing!
Love your whole outfit. I look for soft leather and how it fits on my shoulder and doesn’t slide off easily.
I love your outfit today. I’m drawn to gray a lot. Love the jacket and the moto design. I totally missed this purse when on the website yesterday but that is gorgeous too…and it’s grey.
Love the outfit and the bag! Ain’t it grand that the awesome sale on Sharif bags make them pretty affordable??
I love a purse that is stylish but also functional.I need lots of room and has to have a long handle.I love that this one is is so versatile.
What a fun bag! I love that there is the grab and go option of the front pouch. I’d have to say versatility and organization is was I look for when purchasing a handbag.
Love the jacket. Maybe your daughter will make it by Thanksgiving.
I like a bag that has enough pockets. Most of the bags I have are the type everything I’m looking for is in the bottom. I have those purse organizers but they don’t help me.
This is a great looking bag but I like the one from yesterday. Have a great day. ?
I look for a place for my phone and a place for my keys when looking for a purse.
Good morning Tania! I have to have an outside pocket for my keys!
I look for an easy accessible pocket for my cell phone and keys. Love the look of these bags and some are even on sale already. Bonus.?
I usually prefer bags that have some type of preposition or divider so it is easier to find things, lol! Kind of cool that this one turns into a backpack!
When I buy a handbag I always make sure that it is easy to get into and that it has a spot for my phone!
I love a pocket book that has compartments ….and its own mini purse included inside
I always look for 2 pockets -1 for my keys and 1 for my cell phone. Love the look of these handbags!
I look at the color of the bag first. I want it to work with the most outfits possible. Love reading your posts!
I love love anything animal print. A lot of pockets is also a BIG plus.
After all of these years, looking at the handles on the bag is most important. Need a flat handle so it doesn’t pull on my neck! Then shape and color!
Oh and I LOVE the jacket?
It has to have a pocket for my cell phone because I can never find it in the bottom of my bag otherwise!
I like a handbag that is roomy with lots of pockets
I like for my bag to be roomy. I don’t like for it to be a suitcase, but I do like a tote style to be able to hold my essentials plus a lot more. This style is very intriguing to be able to remove the crossbody part to give the bag more versatility.
I can’t pull off the edge look of a MOTO jacket. LOL purse is nice!
I look for a handbag to be soft. A hard heavy one is not my first choice. This one sure is versatile. You look ready for a day of holiday errands. Your daughter sounds a lot like my boys. Never know to the last minute there plans. We still love them!
Primarily for me it has to be 1. the feel of the leather. 2. the weight 3. compartments inside (i loose everything!) and 4. practical – this bag appears to have it all! I love the fact it also becomes a body bag – for me this would make it ideal to se when travelling. Love this post and hope your daughter is with you soon x
I bought that same moto jacket a few years ago and it has been a great purchase. I am in love with that snakeskin handbag and how it can be worn multiple ways. On the website it looks a dark black and off-white, but yours looks gray. Which is accurate?? When I choose a handbag I go for looks and how it will work with my wardrobe.
I like to have an outside slip pocket or zipper pocket for easy access to my phone.
Because I am short, I look for a handbag to be proportional to my height! 🙂
Ashleigh, please listen to your momma. There are dogs being surrendered every day online by owners who learn they have neither the time, space or patience for a dog/puppy. Perhaps consider volunteering at a local rescue or animal shelter until you are in a position to be a dog’s forever mom?
Hi Tania! I absolutely need a number of pockets to serve as dividers for organizing in my handbags. It is a deal breaker for most bags. When I do break down and buy a one big section bag, I put a divider device in it to help keep me organized. I love the snakeskin design of this bag!!!
I always look for how a handbag feels on my shoulder (will it stay there?). It’s important to me not to be messing with it to stay in place all the time! This bag is so pretty!
Lezlie, I have that problem too. And don’t get me started on bra straps!
Plenty of room to look around for all of my stuff!
I look for really good zippers that won’t stick. I also don’t like a flap that goes over the closure.
Love the snakeskin bag! Great look!
