A MONTH OF THANKSGIVING
I try to be a thankful person, I think that thankful people are so much happier. They take stock of their lives and are so appreciative of everything that they have been given instead of worrying about what they are lacking. If I am eating a hamburger that is something to be thankful for. There are people throughout the world who do not have food to eat.
Last week my sister told me about something cool they did at her church youth group. When the kids came together for church, they told them they were going to serve them food. They sat a few kids at tables, but the majority, around 40, sat on the floor. The kids at the tables represented the developed parts of the world and were served fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans etc. But what about the other kids who sat on the floor? Those kids? They represented the poorest of the poor, and received only a small bit of rice and daal. It was VERY impactful. My sister said her daughter has been praying for those kids ever since, and her church is getting the kids together to pack food boxes for delivery on Thanksgiving.
Ephesians 5:20 – “giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Psalm 100:4 – “Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!”
Psalm 95:2 – “Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!”
Things that we take for granted is something that parts of the world do not have. Getting up to a warm house, turning on the electricity with the flip of a light switch, flushing the toilet with running water by pushing a lever, or even having your cup of coffee while reading your favorite blogger.
Stop and take a look around you for just a few moments. In your prayers be sure to do a prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord and then say an intervention prayer for those who are less fortunate.
Have A Blessed Day!
Thank you for this lovely post.
I have had a tough couple of months experiencing 2 deaths in my family within a week ofor each other.
Today I have been feeling low and tearful
So I made myself a cup of tea
And sat down to read a few blog posts that have piled up in my inbox
