A GOD OF ABUNDANCE
God is the God of abundance. I know this, and if you read my Sunday blog posts, then you know this also. But, what is abundance? What does that mean? What does it mean for my life?
According to Merriam-Webster, abundance means an ample quantity or a relative degree of plentifulness. Yes, please, I’ll take a double portion of abundance! Here are some words that we can associate with abundance.
basketful, boatload, bunch, bundle, bushel, carload, chunk, fistful, gobs, heap, a lot, mass, much, oodles, pack, passel, pile, plentiful, plenty, potful, profusion, quantity, slew, ton, truckload, wad, wealth, affluence, bounty, myriad, plethora, profusion, prosperity, riches, wealth, ampleness, fortune, opulence, prosperousness, thriving
Did you look at those words? THOSE are words and things that God wants to give us. Our Lord delights in giving to us, and He wants the very best for us. Do these words make you feel excited at what the Lord wants for your life?
That is what the Lord wants to give to you, but what are you expecting from the Lord? What are you willing to ask the Lord to give to you? Do you have the faith to ask?
In the past, I have been guilty of thinking that the Lord “knows” what I want, so I don’t want to “bother” him by asking. Or, I have said to myself, “the Lord knows what is best for me, so He will give me what I need.” Yes, the Lord does know what I want, and He does know what I need. However, there are a few verses in the Bible that tells me that even though the Lord already knows, He wants “me” to ask for His blessings.
John 15:7
7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
Matthew 7:11
11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
James 1:5-8
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
John 16:23-14
23 In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
A brand New Year has been gifted to you by the Lord. It is now time for you to ask God to bless you abundantly. He longs to give to you. He longs to bless you. It is up to you to “ask” and then you must have the “faith” to “believe” that the Lord is capable of doing even more than you ask.
Have A Blessed Day!
James 1:5-8! I use this one all the time at work! Thanks for sharing!!
Abundantly blessed! Our God is an awesome God!
Thank you Tania! I tuly needed that reminder! Have a blessed week and thank you for honest sharing and spiritual wisdom! God bless!
I think he also said “ask and you shall receive” it may not be what we want at the time, but I also say it is in your hands and leave it to Him.
I just found your blog and I am delighted. The topic of abundance is a great one! I am praying to see abundance in my peace of mind, willingness to serve others, joy in the good others find when I am at a loss, and love for those I don’t find loving or lovable in some way. I think if I am living that abundance which I must have has His/Her! child, all the needs will be met.
Thanks for encouraging such a lovely sharing.
Amen!!!!
What a great reminder! Thank you!
