I love wearing scarves all year long. Adding a scarf to an outfit is one of the easiest and cost-effective ways to change your outfit’s look. There are lots of styles of scarves, and there are lots of ways to tie them. Today, I will show you 3 easy ways to wear a scarf, and I promise you can do these.

Almost anyone can wear a scarf; you just need to figure out the right type for your body.

Petite Frame

If you are petite and feel like a scarf overwhelms you, you want to choose smaller prints and thinner scarves like the one I have on today or a chiffon or silk scarf.

Plus Size

Ladies who are plus size can wear large prints and scarves, but you don’t want to add bulk. You can still wear a blanket scarf, but it will take some practice to know what works best for you. However, you will want to try and elongate your body, and wearing longer scarves will help. I like to draw the eye inward, so I create a loose tie with my long scarves that draws your eye in and down.

Busty Women

Once again, it would help if you avoided bulky scarves. Extra bulk or weight will only make you look more top-heavy, so instead, stick to thinner, more sleek materials. Scarves that fit closer to the body will work best for you, but the best advice I can give to anyone wanting to wear a scarf is to experiment. Try lots of patterns, colors, styles, and different tying techniques.

I love my black velvet jacket from J. Crew Factory! I wore it last month to celebrate my anniversary, and I plan on wearing it later this month for Christmas. This jacket is so versatile, and it looks great in both a casual or dressier look. Velvet is a luxurious material, and it elevates any outfit that you choose to wear the jacket with. I am wearing a size 12 in this jacket, and I think that is the perfect size since I can wear a sweater or button up under it.

This cheetah print camisole and matching scarf are a great alternative to wearing leopard print. I love the cheetah print since it is smaller and daintier than a leopard print, and it is not as “in your face” and noticeable as leopard. Like a leopard print, the cheetah print is a great neutral and can be worn with almost anything. I am wearing a large in the camisole, and it is quite roomy without being huge.

These black suede Vince Camuto boots are pretty awesome! I have been trying to decide if I am going to keep the boots. Do I really “need” another pair of black knee boots. So far, the voice inside my head that is saying YES is winning. Lol! I don’t have a pair of slouch black boots, and the black suede looks so good with everything. Plus, as an added bonus, I love the pointy toe that elongates my legs AND, they are still on sale for $100.00 off!!! I am wearing a 9 1/2 even though I usually wear a size 9. The website suggested sizing up a half size, and these fit great, and I even have room to wear socks.

I just got this leather hobo bag by Rebecca Minkoff in, and I had to grab it for these photos. I haven’t even taken the papers out of it yet, but I wanted to show it to you. The color looks a tad bit toward the purple side in these photos, but it is more of a steel gray. I love the size of the bag and how the hobo tucks in under your arm. One of this bag’s style features is the gunmetal chain handle that gives the look an edgy modern look. Here are a few other handbags for you to consider.

Wearing an oblong scarf long and loose is the easiest way to wear a scarf. It hangs down the lapels to create a long and lean look, which works for most people. I especially like wearing a scarf like this with a coat or blazer with a wide lapel.

This is probably the way that I wear a scarf the most often. It is a simple tie, but not knotted. This style also elongates your look, and since it is tied in the middle, that draws your eye inward. That helps to make you look thinner also, so you can understand why this is my go-to style.

The last look is easy to style also. All you have to do to create this look is put the scarf around your neck and then take one end and wrap it back around your neck. I then fix the ends so that they are the same length, and then I tie the ends together. You can tuck this inside the loops or leave it tied. This is just a different take on an infinity scarf.

I am wearing the same pair of skinny ankle jeans from Chico’s that I wore in yesterday’s look. They are comfy and fit me great. I love the color of these jeans, not too dark and not too light. I always have to size down in Chico’s clothing, so I am wearing a size .5 in these. These jeans also come in a light washed color if you are not a fan of dark wash. I like both colors, but I feel like a dark wash jean is dressier than the light wash version.

My jewelry for today is simple. I am wearing a pair of my favorite hoop earrings, the AVI. I am also wearing the Maggie bangle bracelet and the Fallyn cuff bracelet.

Some of you have asked, so I thought that I should mention that my red lipstick is called Daring Red by Chanel. I love this shade of red, and I also love the color Sensual Rose. Those are the two colors that you see me wearing the most often.

I always comment late as I read my phone when i lay down at night! Love this ensemble! What a timely fashion suggestion. Most aren’t dressing up for work and the most we can do is go out for a casual dinner! This is the kind of outfit that is perfect for almost anything we can do nowadays!

    1. Julia, you are right about being able to wear this outfit almost anywhere.

I am Pinning your pictures : yesterday, today, and whenever I need to recreate them going forward into this Holiday Season! Luckily I can find previous outfit combinations from your “Shop My Post” section! What a gorgeous, sassy look this is, Tania! I love, love the knotted scarf look but not sure I can master it. Those suede knee boots look fabulous w the outfit! And I just love those glasses on you! Win, win! Have a fabulous day w your new beautiful bag!

  5. I appreciate your blog today. As a petite, busty woman I struggle finding just the right scarf. Some of mine that are too bulky, I’ve starting cutting in half, width wise, and sharing the other half with a friend.

    1. That is a wonderful solution. You might also use a portion as a tie for your handbag or even on your belt loop.

  6. Tania, what if you are a busty plus size petite 😆? Which I am. 🙂

    1. Sandy, you need to stick to smaller prints and thinner scarves. You might have to hem or cut scarves if they are too long for your frame. The infinity scarf will work nicely if it is a thin fabric, and the same goes for the bib scarf look.

    1. Thanks, Shelly! I am glad that you liked the outfit.

      1. Tania, I love the color of your lipstick thanks for sharing about it. I am not wearing it any more since the mask covers it. Do these lipsticks rub off on the mask? If not then it might be time to get new lipstick!

        1. Jeni, it stays on pretty good if you don’t add the gloss. However, it is not as resilient as LipSense.

    1. I am glad that you liked today’s post.
