The weather has finally decided to warm up again for a little bit. I was beginning to think that we would go straight to winter and not have a fall at all. I have bought too many cute fall outfits for the snow to start flying, so I am thrilled to see the temperatures beginning to rise. Today, I’m going to show you how to wear one pair of pants multiple ways.
How to Wear Your Clothing in Multiple Ways
When you want to make your wardrobe look more extensive than it is, then you need to get creative. Learning to wear your clothing in multiple ways will expand your wardrobe visually, if not literally.
- Keep the core piece neutral. If you want to wear the same item repeatedly, you don’t want that item to be too memorable. Don’t pick a statement piece since people will remember it and notice.
- Dress in layers. Adding a coat, jacket, cardigan, or wrap can drastically change the look of the outfit.
- Statement accessories can be the star of the outfit. If you wear bold earrings or a statement necklace, that will grab all of the attention, and no one will notice that you are wearing the same top or pants.
- Change up the shoes. Shoes can make a huge difference, and they can change the look from dressy to casual. Changing the color of the shoes also makes a big difference.
- Finally, pick items that can be worn with multiple things. A white shirt, a navy sweater, or a camel top are all examples of tops that could be paired with multiple pants or jackets to look different each time.
I am styling these corduroy pants in multiple ways today, and I have them worn in a couple of other ways to show you later this week. This popover poplin top is so pretty, and the print is excellent for wearing this fall, but it would also be great for spring. This is another example of being able to wear your clothing in multiple ways. Since there are so many colors on this top, you could wear it with many different colored pants or jeans.
I wasn’t sure how the top would fit, but I took a chance and ordered a medium. Sometimes a medium is perfect, but there are times when I need a large. Thankfully, this time the medium worked and fits great. There are a LOT of different colors and prints; you can check out all of those here.
Here is the length of the top in the back. I doubt this top is long enough to be worn with leggings, but it would be cute with jeans.
The poplin top is thin, so I added this navy quilted jacket with gold snaps for warmth and a different look. This quilted jacket is gorgeous, but it is also relatively expensive. I looked at all of the reviews, something I rarely do, and “almost” everyone was raving about the jacket.
Navy and gold are so classic and look luxurious and elegant, so this jacket has my name written all over it. Do I wish it was less money? Of course, I do. But, I know that this jacket is one that I can wear for years since it is a perfect transition coat, and I’ll get a lot of wear in the spring and fall each year. Navy is a color that goes with almost everything, and since the jacket is warm, comfortable, and lightweight, it will be one that I reach for a lot. I’m wearing a medium, and it fits me great.
Would you have thought that bright pink and these caramel-colored corduroy pants went together? I love wearing pink all year round, and I think it is a pleasant surprise for most people when worn in the fall. When you look at the poplin popover top, did you notice the bright pink in the print? Look at patterns to find color combinations that you might not have thought about otherwise. I use tops and scarves a lot for color combination inspirations.
Look at this cowlneck tweed pullover sweater! Can you see the quality of this sweater radiating in this picture? I try my best to describe the items that I am wearing, but I can’t do this sweater justice. There are certain retailers that I can count on for having quality clothing, and Talbots is high up on my list.
I prefer a cowlneck over a turtleneck since it isn’t tight and constraining. The color of the sweater is vibrant, and it has tiny flecks to give the color interest and dimension. I also love the diamond pattern print since it also creates interest and dimension. I am wearing a medium, and it fits me well. I must not have gotten a “behind the scenes” photo, but the sweater is long enough to wear leggings. It also comes in a couple of other colors if pink is out of your comfort zone.
I’ve always loved corduroy pants, and this year, corduroy is trending! That makes me happy, and I’m wearing this fabric more and more. Talbots has great corduroy pants, and this twig-colored straight-leg pair gets an A+ from me. The fit is fantastic, and they feel fabulous. I am wearing an 8 since I’ve found that I need to size down one size in Talbot’s pants and jeans.
I also love that Talbot’s offers petite and plus sizes since those are getting harder and harder to find. Old Navy also offers a wide variety of sizes so that you can check them out for your clothing. These corduroy pants come in several other colors, and if you are brave, there is a bright pink pair that is gorgeous!
The items that I didn’t mention were my boots, jewelry, and belt. The Tory Burch lug sole boots have been sold out in stores for a while, and the belt is one that I bought last year. I’ll see if I can find some similar items and link them below. The jewelry is simple, large hoop AVI earrings, an 18 Kt. Gold Vermeil Cross necklace, a Ryder multi-strand necklace, an Apple Watch, and a David Yurman bracelet. These are my everyday staples for jewelry.
