I want to wish all of you a Happy International Women’s Day! Today is a day set aside to celebrate women, although we should celebrate women every day instead of only one year a day. There is a theme for today, and it is #choosetochallenge. To change the mindset of how women are viewed and treated, we have to celebrate women who have had great accomplishments.

I searched for famous quotes from women to include in this article, and I was thrilled to find so many to choose from. I had heard some of these quotes before, but I didn’t know who said them.

1.

“Life is tough, my darling, but so are you”  –  Stephanie Bennet Henry

2.

“Always be a first-rate version of yourself and not a second-rate version of someone else.” –  Judy Garland.

3.

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”  –  Eleanor Roosevelt.

4.

“If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.” –  Margaret Thatcher.

5.

“Every woman’s success should be an inspiration to another. We’re strongest when we cheer each other on.” –  Serena Williams.

I was thinking of a way for me to celebrate International Women’s Day, and I decided that I should stick to my roots. Not my roots in a genetic sense, but in a fashion sense. So, I decided to try my hand at dressing like a French woman. Since I am not french, this is a total gamble on my part, but there are a few things that I know about French women.

Dressing Like A French Woman

French women are very stylish. They believe in quality over quantity and will invest in items that will last. French women develop their own style and don’t follow every trend. That doesn’t mean that they don’t dabble in trends, but they incorporate a trend into their own personal style.

French women like to look polished and put together; however, they don’t like to look like they tried too hard. You might see a French woman dressed perfectly, but her hair might be tousled. Some of the things that a French woman is known for would be a beautiful red lip, trench coats, their love of neutrals, and stripes.

The Dagne Dover Classic Tote is a perfect neutral handbag. This handbag is a coated canvas bag, and it can serve as a work bag and a fashion accessory. It is a nice large size, and it will hold a 15″ laptop. It has a padded compartment on one side that is perfect for the laptop or iPad, and it still has enough room for all of your other essentials. I’ve had this handbag for years, and it still looks brand new.

Stripes are a classic pattern that you will be able to wear for years. I love the v-neck style and the longer length of this striped tee. This is a nice roomy tee, but I still ordered a size large to make sure that it didn’t highlight any lumps in my tummy region.

This navy double-breasted jacket with the large gold buttons is one that I’ve had for a bit. I would probably never wear this jacket buttoned, I prefer it to hang loose.

I love the material’s thickness, and I think that the blazer is very chic, very classic, very polished, and very flattering. The blazer is a size 12, and I love the way that it fits. The jacket is almost completely sold out, so I’ll link to some similar ones for you.

This high-rise cropped flare jean has a cut hem look. The high-rise cropped jean is one that you will be seeing a lot of this spring and summer. The good thing about these jeans is that they look good with sneakers, flats, and heels, so they are very versatile. It has taken me a while to get used to them, but I am starting to come around. I ordered my usual size 30 in these, but I think that they are too tight through the waist. I already have a size 31 on order for me since I like these jeans a lot.

Speaking of flats…these navy flats are a pair from Appleseeds that I wore in a post on Friday. The flats are flashy, but they are fashionable and they pick up on the navy stripe and the navy blazer. The whole outfit is cohesive looking, and that makes it look like some thought and effort went into the look.

I had to add my favorite red high heel pumps to the look. To me, these pumps take the outfit from a casual and everyday look, to glamourous and date-night worthy. The large gold AVI hoop earrings, and the Beckett gold link necklace and bracelet are swoon-worthy, and give the whole outfit an elevated style.

I am celebrating this month because it is Joe’s Birthday month. He told me that I couldn’t make a big deal out of his birthday. I don’t think that announcing for the entire world to see is making a big deal. Lol! So, randomly, each week, I am going to pick a winner for a gift. The gifts will vary in size and price, and I will pick the winner from the comments that I receive during the week.

This past week’s winner is…..Rory! Keep commenting and you might be next week’s winner.

  2. I am a big fan of quotes and the ones you chose were great! I am also a big fan of stripes! It is helpful to see how the outfit changes with the simple change of shoe style. Love this post!

  3. You are rocking that outfit, gurl!!! Happy Birthday to Joe!!!

Your comments reminded me of the show “Emily in Paris” that we binged watched on Netflix. Emily an American has her own youthful style and the French, their style, like you stated. I like both looks!

I was in Quebec City a few years ago in an art store. The owner came up to me and said “Oohh la la, you look SO pretty!!” She made my day and I will never forget it!! As women, we should always be looking for opportunities to make other women feel good about themselves! Her French accent just made it all the better!!

  6. I have always loved navy and white!! Very Classy!

  7. Love the style of the blazer…very flattering!

  8. I love it with the red shoes, and the loafers are good, but I can’t get on the tennis shoe train with a tailored navy blazer. Call me a stick in the mud!

  9. I wanted to add that the jeans could be super casual looking but adding the blazer takes it up a level and makes it dressy and good for work or night out.

  10. I love this classy look. I have always stayed away from horizontal stripes though, because I thought larger women shouldn’t wear them.
