It has been a wonderful, but tiring weekend. I love, love, love going to the vintage fashions shows, but it is also a lot of work. There is the setting up of all the products, the pre-sale on Friday for 2 hours, and then the day of the show. On show day, there is another hour for pre-sales, (merchandise you can buy right then), then the show. In the show, models come out wearing vintage clothing, jewelry, coats, and hats. They also carry vintage items, such as purses, umbrellas, cigarette cases, sunglasses, and more. A brief description is given of each item, and then the prices for each item is read. You raise your paddle to bid, and if more than one person wishes to bid, it will go to auction. I managed to snag two winter coats, (one with a matching hat), a beautiful pearl bracelet, several purses, and some miscellaneous jewelry. You will see pictures in the upcoming weeks.
Age is an attitude. That is my motto, but that along can not keep you from looking older. I do firmly believe that your attitude does keep you acting and feeling younger, but Mother Nature eventually takes her toll on all of us. So, what can we do to “trick” her?
I have tried a lot of mascara, and I am sure you have also. Every time I find one I like, I think “this is it, finally the one”. I thought that when I started using, Benefit, They’re Real Mascara by It Cosmetics. However in this month’s Birchbox, I received a sample of Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara, and I quickly changed my mind.
Today we look at my favorite eyeshadow, a shade by Makeup Geek called shimma shimma. For $6.00 a small pot, it is well worth the purchase. I use this color daily; I mean, every single day!!! I use this to highlight the brow bone and also on the inner corner of my eye. This is a pale gold or champagne color. Makeup Geek actually says the color is pale beige, but that does not do this color justice. It stays on nicely, and is NOT glitter. The pigmentation is excellent! I was blown away by these eyeshadows, I bought several, and plan on getting a few more. I was a little shocked when I first received my order, I was not expecting these shadows to come packaged without a case of some kind. They come in a paper type package, and are in a metal pan. The name is on the bottom of the pan for future reference. I purchased a Z Palette to hold my shadows in, but they are a little expensive. I read somewhere that you can buy a Sewlutions art bin @ Hobby Lobby, which is cheaper and works just as well. These are magnetic, and your eyeshadows (and blushes) stay put for transportation purposes.
I rate these a 4.75. The only con I have on these eyeshadows, is the packaging. It is a little aggravating to have to purchase another product just to house your shadows. However, after you purchase the housing, you can always have your favorites together without multiple pots or palettes. There is always a silver lining.
I have been using It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Anti-Aging Micro Powder for over a month now. Try saying that three times fast. Boy, that is a mouth full. I have to say, I really like this powder. I put on my moisturizer, primer, foundation, and concealer then I set my under eyes with this powder. I usually will then apply my eye makeup, then contour and apply blush. After those steps, I then apply the powder over my entire face. The blush seems to stay better if applied before using the powder. I guess that is why it is a setting poser. Duh! Most of the time I use a dabbing motion with my face products. This helps to insure that all the product is in the tiny lines and pores. However, with this product, you sweep it on using a larger brush. The idea is to have an airbrushed effect on your skin, camouflaging those pesky pores. This is according to itcosmetics.com:
Award-winning Bye Bye Pores® Silk HD Anti-Aging Micro-Powder is infused with Collagen, Vitamin K and Pure Silk for a perfect, poreless, airbrushed finish. It absorbs oil and shine, and blurs away the look of pores, without settling into lines and wrinkles. It sets makeup and helps to diffuse the appearance of wrinkles and pores instantly.
Developed with leading plastic surgeons, this powder is infused with Hydro Collagen to smooth lines, Pure Silk for a poreless finish, and Vitamin K to help reduce discoloration. It also contains Anti- Aging Antioxidants Vitamins A, C, and E to help ward off free radicals throughout the day. Translucent and colorless – it works on all skin tones. Formulated without Talc, Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum, Synthetic Fragrance and Phthalates.

I have fairly dry skin, so this is from my perspective. This is a loose powder and is translucent. So far, I haven’t noticed any caking. I have read that for some people that was their issue. I however, have not experienced that. I think the key is to use a large fluffy brush and apply in a thin layer. My makeup stays in place and I don’t get shiny or sweaty during the day. However, remember I have dry skin. It is a very fine powder. I can definitely see where it got its name – silk. It just flows over my skin. After you have applied this, your face feels really smooth. You don’t need a great deal of product, you just dab your brush in the product, tap on the side of the container, and apply. It will last a long, long time.
Over all I really like this product and will purchase again when the time comes. I give it a 4.75. I am only deducting a small amount because the packaging is kind of plain. For such a nice product you would think it would come in a snazzier container.
Follow my blog with BloglovinHappy Monday everyone! Today is Makeup Monday and while the product I am reviewing it not technically a makeup product, it is a beauty product. I assume, (really hope) that most of you shave your legs, and we might as well make it as comfortable and painless as possible.
I love to try new types of makeup products! That is a very simple but totally true statements. Makeup costs a great deal of money! Another simple but true statement. Did you know that there are some services, you can subscribe to on a monthly basis, that will send you different products all for 10.00? I subscribe to two of them, Ipsy and Birchbox. Both of them have great products and for 10.00 you get to try new things without breaking the bank. You answer a few questions and they send you products based on your answers. Will you like everything? Probably not. But if you like having a makeup Christmas package delivered monthly, then this is for you. Here are my two packages I received this month.
I’m a little slow to jump on the CC train. I just recently purchased It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better 50 SPF CC Cream and so far I am completely in love.
I have only been using this for two weeks, but it has quickly become my every day foundation. I apply a moisturizer and primer before applying the CC cream. I suggest you apply sparingly, a little bit goes a long way. I am using way less product than before. Even though it is sold as full coverage, this is pretty much a medium coverage. However, it is build able if more coverage is needed. I bought the shade light and it looks like my actual skin. It reduces the redness and evens out my skin tone. I am particularly conscious of any cream settling into my life lines, aka – wrinkles, and so far I am please with the results. I can only hope the anti-aging properties are hard at work.
My very first makeup review! I am sure I do not need to remind anyone, but I am not an expert when it comes to makeup. I do however, have an opinion on, well pretty much everything. So, let’s get started.
Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Palette. This is actually my first Kat Von D purchase, but it will not be my last. I have several neutral eye shadows, and was really hesitant about this purchase. I had been wanting a good matte palette and after watching Jaclyn Hill where she raved about this one, I thought -why not? After all, who can disagree with Jaclyn? She is the “Queen” in my eyes when it comes to makeup. But, she is young, and makeup that looks good on her, might not translate to aging skin.
