I was doing a team training the other night, and I asked the ladies on the call this question: “What is your strength?” I went around to each of them, and the answers varied from person to person. Then, after we had gone through everyone, I asked this question: “What is your weakness?” Once again, I went from person to person to see what everyone had to say.
Most of the ladies could easily answer me what they considered their weaknesses, but when it came to finding their strengths, they had a harder time. I have found that we tend to focus on our faults and weaknesses. We tend to spend lots and lots of time trying to get better at what we consider a weakness. It sounds like a good plan; why wouldn’t you want to get better at something that you can’t do well? But, in actuality, we need to be spending lots and lots of time on our strengths. If you are an awesome writer, then you need to concentrate on becoming a writer and developing your skills. If you stink at writing, then maybe the idea of becoming a writer shouldn’t be something that you want to become. One of my strengths is my mindset. I am a positive person by nature, I shake off negativity quickly, and I like encouraging others to be a better person. The things that I am not good at are not a huge concern to me; I will either get better or not. My focus is always going to be on what I can do and seeing if I can improve on those areas. You know that I am going to ask you later on about your strengths, so put your thinking cap on. Lol!
Finally, I can wear my blazers and jackets without getting too hot. I love wearing cardigans as well because all those items help to create a thinner look visually. Without your clothes on, you will look the same as always; sorry that I can give you a tip to change that. Lol! My blazer is one that I have had for years. It is a beige linen jacket with one-button closure. I wear this jacket almost year-round, and it goes with pretty much everything. I am wearing it in a casual style today, but this could easily be dressed up for a more professional look.
I had to add a small touch of tortoise print to my look. The Maren necklace adds just the right amount of animal print, without being in your face. I know that some of you aren’t animal print crazy like me, but you can still enjoy the trend by adding this necklace. My trio of bracelets is the Lelani (large matte gold link), a white and gold bracelet from the Stacia bracelet set, and a large wooden bead bracelet from the Randee set. I love mixing and matching different sets together.
I am always on the lookout for cute flats. I love wearing high heel shoes, but there are days when I want to wear something different. But, finding cute flats can be a huge challenge. I want style!!! I want comfortable shoes also, but I want something with style. Lol! When I found this studded snakeskin loafer, I knew that I had found exactly what I was looking for all these years. These are by Steve Madden, and I bought them at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Here is the link to the shoes.
What do you think about wide-leg pants? Honestly, I am still on the fence with this style. I see it on others, and I love the look. But then I try it on me, and I am not convinced. I liked these pants and the drawstring pull-on waist. I also liked how they had a casual vibe, but how they even managed to look chic. But, because I have struggled all of my life with pants being too short, I think the length of the cropped pants bother me. These pants (link) are from The Loft, and they are on sale, AND they are also an extra 40% off with the code FALLFEST.
I told you that I would be circling back around to ask you about your strengths. I want to celebrate with you, so be sure to leave a comment. I bet your comment will inspire others, and you might be surprised how strong you are. Tonight I am using my strength (mindset) to help me to overcome a weakness. (public speaking) You would have been surprised if you had met me 25 years ago. My biggest worry was that I was invisible. I felt like I didn’t have a voice and that I disappeared into the background. I never had my picture taken (funny, huh), and I worried that my children wouldn’t remember me if something happened to me. I think that those memories are why I want to help women so much. I want everyone to feel “visible,” and fashion is one way to make that happen. If you feel confident in your style, that confidence will show up in other areas of your life. Tonight, I am stepping outside of my comfort zone to help others. Tonight I am asking if you want to hop on a ZOOM call to hear more about what I do and why I love it so much. Tonight I am showing you how I became visible! ZOOM is a free app that you can download (here) to any device. ZOOM allows us to talk and see each other, which allows you to ask questions if you wish. To join the call, you download the app and then hit the Join A Meeting button and type in this number: 575-241-0946 Remember, knowledge is power, and you can never have enough knowledge. This is an easy-going simple call with NO obligation. I hope to see you there!!! Plus, there will be a free gift for everyone who joins me on the call.
