50 IS NOT OLD | THE RIGHT WAY TO WEAR CAMOUFLAGE FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40Well, gurls, I have an update to my steroid story from yesterday. But, before I tell you about that, let me tell you that there isn’t going to be a Friday with Friends blogger this week. I have several that are lined up, but no one could make this Friday work. Most bloggers (not me) have posts scheduled ahead of time, and there were conflicting matters. Oh well, stay tuned, they will eventually get to come and visit. Back to the steroid story; Joe has now decided that he LOVES me on steroids. He is even claiming that he is going to have to keep me on them for at least a month. Lol! Here is what happened today.
50 IS NOT OLD | THE RIGHT WAY TO WEAR CAMOUFLAGE FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40I slept okay, but I woke up early and couldn’t go back to sleep. I finally got up at 5:00 a.m., and started getting some work done. When Joe got up, I had already done all of my emails, comments, posting, sending out the blog on another server, etc. Then, I went into the bedroom and put a new bedspread and bed skirt on the bed. I gathered up four loads of laundry and started those. Loaded the dishwasher and started it before heading out the door to cook 3 pounds of bacon on the Blackstone Grill. I just got some bacon presses, and those things worked terrifically. I made a 7-layer salad, got all of the laundry put away, swept off the porches, and made some banana nut bread with Emersyn. Joe just kept shaking his head because I never cook…or even clean. Lol! I was still going strong at 10:00 p.m. I think that he would take the bad mood, but that seems to have left. Win, win on his part.
50 IS NOT OLD | THE RIGHT WAY TO WEAR CAMOUFLAGE FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40Can you see me? Haha! I recently found this cute camouflage dress while I was out shopping this week. I can’t decide if I like camo or not. There are days when I like the print, but then the next time that I see the print, I am not into the print at all. When that happens, I will try to purchase the products at a less expensive price. I don’t want to invest a lot of money into a trend or a print that I am not sure that I like. So, when I saw this dress at Cato Fashions for under 25.00, I thought it was worth the purchase. I love the swing style; it is flowy and comfortable to wear. Plus, I like the flattering deep scoop. I am wearing a large, and it fits fine. Here is the link.
50 IS NOT OLD | THE RIGHT WAY TO WEAR CAMOUFLAGE FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40The Dallin is a 2.5″ textured gold hoop earring. I love this style; it is so easy to wear with almost anything. I added these earrings because I thought it went well with my necklace. This is last month’s Posse, and it is not available for purchase this month. This month’s set is a mixture of spring and fall. I’ll upload the picture for you to have a look-see. The Posse is a subscription service that is 25.00 for one to three pieces of jewelry, and that includes shipping and taxes. It is a great deal to start getting Christmas presents; you could have four gifts bought before it rolls around. It ships monthly on the same day that you sign up, and you can cancel at any time. There are no enrollment or cancellation fees. Here is the link to the Posse.
50 IS NOT OLD | THE RIGHT WAY TO WEAR CAMOUFLAGE FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40I thought that adding cute booties to the look helped this look be more fallish in nature. These faux suede booties are a pair of my favorite boots, and I wear them all the time in the fall and winter. I love this fawn-like color, and these are very comfortable for a shoe with a heel. These are not very expensive either, especially since they are on sale. You can purchase these for 30.00! Here is the link.
50 IS NOT OLD | THE RIGHT WAY TO WEAR CAMOUFLAGE FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40Thanks for all of the comments yesterday. I enjoyed reading them! Let’s see if you can comment again. Today, I am looking for real answers. I am sure there are things you like about my blog and things you could do without. It is impossible to make everyone happy, but I like to think that I would keep an open mind if several of you all suggested the same thing. Maybe you don’t like hearing so much about my life, or maybe you would like me to do more posts about dresses, purses, etc. Maybe you think that I am practically perfect the way that I am. I look forward to reading your suggestions. (I think) Lol!

  1. Hi Tania,

Glad to know that you are feeling better! I love your blog and always look forward to reading it. I love the way you style your outfits especially when you pick an item and dress it in different ways. I love the fact that you are godly too :-). Have a great weekend and keep well.

    Be blessed
    Joyce

Thanks, Joyce. I am glad to hear that you enjoy when I do a series. I may do more of those in the future.

    Hi Tania!
I LOVE to hear about your life! I hope others feel the same way and that you will continue sharing your life with us. And every day I look forward to the clothing you will be styling. My pocketbook gets used often to the dismay of my husband! LOL!! I am recovering from a partial knee replacement; Each day I look forward to 12:01am when your new blog entry is posted for those of us in the central time zone. Thank you for sharing your life with all of us!! I am hopeful that my knee will be strong soon and ready to wear the clothing styles/items you model for us. Love to you from Minnesota!

I hope you have a speedy recovery, Chris. It is a slow recovery, but I hear that the surgery works great! Thanks for following.

  3. I like when you tell stories from your life and the Sunday post. I like when you have pictures of other places and always like to know where it is. I think it would be fun to see around your town and learn the interesting things about it.

I love your blog because you keep it real and I can relate to lots of things you post about. One suggestion… due to a medical condition I’m not able to wear trousers/pants but I can wear leggins ok. I would love some more posts about dressing up leggings whilst hiding the tummy area 🌞

    • Tania Reply

Hiding the tummy is a high priority with me too. I haven’t been wearing leggings as much, but I have a few that I will be wearing for fall.

  5. I really like this dress! Your blog is great just the way it is and I really like your use of colour and pattern. I don’t like boring clothes and your outfits are always something I would wear.

  6. It’s always fun reading about things happening in your life. I just brought an inexpensive cameo shirt for the fall as it is the trend this year. I have had to take steroids in the past and I love them. I get so much done around the house. Too bad they aren’t good for you in the long term. Feel better.

  7. Cato is one of my favorite stores so I love it when you wear & post outfits from Cato. I’m like you, I can’t decide if I like camouflage or not. I did purchase the camouflage sweatshirt with the lace up detail that you featured a few weeks ago. Going to have to check out this swing dress.

  8. Liz DiCamillo Reply

I love the camo dress dressed up with the jewelry. I don’t normally like camo but you’ve made it feminine and “softened “ it. The boots are perfect with it. Love hearing all your stories and would love to see more pictures at the places you shop/visit.

  9. Love the dress! You look so nice in it and it is a fun dress! Camo seems to be in this year! And you can wear so many different colors and accessories with it! FUN!!!!!!!!!!

  10. I thoroughly enjoy reading about your everyday life—the good, the bad and the funny! I like reading about your family and getting a little peek at your collections, your home and your surroundings. And, I can’t wait to see what outfit you have put together next. Sometimes I absolutely love it and sometimes it’s not to my taste but I know someone else is drooling. You do a great job of putting together something for everyone. And, your Sunday messages are little treasures to start a new week with. I find them to be a blessing. Nope, can’t think of anything I’d change. You are totally rocking it!

    • Cheryl Peffer Reply

I think we all enjoy reading about your everyday life. Our loving husbands can get on our last nerve at times, they can do the funniest things and our grandchildren give us the cutest stories ever. The clothes are the best, I can’t imagine your closet!! I have not jumped on the camo wagon. I like it on everyone but me.

  11. I enjoy your life stories. When I am on steroids for an upper respiratory thing, its a guarantee that the house will get cleaned! Lol

  12. Although I am a gurl and I love your fashion sense, the only proper way to wear camo is on a deer stand. All my camo is exclusively hunting clothes 🤣🤣

    • Tania Reply

anet, that made me snicker. Goodness, if the only way that I could only wear camo was on a hunting trip, then I wouldn’t have any in my closet. Lol!

  13. I love 90% of your blog! The 10% I don’t like is when you push R&F. I started reading for the fashion ideas, not to read a sales pitch. I don’t fault you at all for working your business, but maybe you should start a 2nd blog just for R&F. You could direct readers who are interested to the other blog, while those of us that can’t or don’t use the product could just read about fashion and your funny family stories. Yes, I can skip over the R&F parts, and I do, but since it is such a big part of your life it might deserve a blog all its own. I still love the fashion parts and the Sunday inspiration though! Oh, and I want a long chunky cross necklace-if Plunder comes out with that again, please show it on your blog!

    • Tania Reply

Beth, I am glad that you like 90% of my blog. It is kind of funny, because that 10% you don’t like, has made the biggest impact on my life. It has changed my looks, my confidence, and has added money to my bank account which had made me less worried about the future. I can’t stand the idea of not sharing that with other women.

      • Sara Nance Reply

Don’t stop the R & F information – it’s giving me encouragement that maybe I could do that business – I love hearing your stories about your life, fashion and the business!

  14. Love your life stories and Sunday Christian theme! Keep stories about Joe in! We all love our husbands but they can get on our nerves. Your southern colorful stories add a certain something! Keep it as is. I tend to skip the R&F skin care line posts so can see Beth’s point of view.

    • Tania Reply

I am glad that you like my Sunday posts. Those are special to me.

  15. Hi Tania, I love your blog as is:). I especially admire your work ethic of posting every day. I read your blog every day & enjoy reading about your life! Thank You!

  16. So glad you’re feeling better! I love the dress! I especially like how you put the light colored jewelry with it Have a great day Tania!

Tania I enjoy your posts very much. You are so down to earth and REAL, that is a draw for me. The only tweak I would suggest is a bit less selling. I agree with Beth, perhaps another blog exclusively for those interested in the products. Otherwise, love your outfits( and appreciate that they aren’t all high end) ,love your stories, and really love your Sunday posts. Keep up the good work . Happy to hear you are feeling better.

    • Agreed. There are way too many blogs featuring neutral, high-end, expensive clothes that I will never own. I appreciate that you show everyday styles from Cato, Walmart, Old Navy etc. AND LOOK GOOD.

      • Tania Reply

Thanks, Sharon. I try to keep my clothing as affordable as possible. I want to look good, but I want to have my money to spend on other things. Lol!

    • Tania Reply

Jodi, I am very much a down to earth girl. I almost have to laugh about how some of you dislike me sharing about RF. That is the one thing that I love the most! It has given me skin that I am proud of, confidence that I never had, and some financial security. I never contact anyone, I just want to make it easily accessible for those who do want, or need, the skincare or the business.

  18. I love your blog and read it daily! Like a few others, I skip over the R+F portion as I have my own favorite products, but I understand the need to promote your business. Please don’t ever stop your Sunday messages, it’s a great way to start my week♡♡♡

  19. Tania,I love reading your blog hope you don’t change anything love hearing about your family and the way you style outfits love that your down to earth and your Sunday posts are always the best your blog makes us feel like we know you personally and that’s awesome .

  20. The camo dress is cute! You can accessorize in various ways and I think it would be cute with denim as the weather cools down. I enjoy your blog and your real life stories and adventures. It is fun to chuckle at the humor in our lives. I particularly like that you have a positive, upbeat attitude!

  21. I’ve only been a “member” for a few days and love your energy, sunny outlook, style and tips. Above all I love people who are passionate about what they do!! It shows!

Super cute dress and timely article on camo. I have a pair of skinny camo jeans and sometimes struggle with styling them. You’ve given me a few ideas already. I’m going to check out the jewelry site too.

    Keep it up girl 🙂

  22. Ooops, forgot to throw in a “lol” about your steroid high! :). That’s identical to my experience. I had worked out, bought groceries and finished laundry before 8 am. Crazy 🙂

    • Tania Reply

Haha! I have never experienced a steroid high before. I would love to be able to keep that. Lol!

  23. I was on steroids 3 years ago for a REALLY bad case of poison ivy. My house was never so clean!! I flew around like a mad woman…but I also couldn’t sleep. My Dad used to say that steroids could make a dead man dance. I think I need a prescription to get my house clean…lol.
Love your blog, not crazy about camo.

  24. kristin greene Reply

If steroid medicine does that for energy I might need some too! I never like cleaning. Lol.
I love how you do your blog. Love the Sunday posts, and the fashion and specially like your stories. I do miss seeing your purses. And even some of your video blogs. I still remember the one where you let your granddaughter do your makeup! You are a patient grandma! But one of the things I like is that each day is different.

  25. Julia Purtill Reply

The same thing happens to me when I am on steroids! But they also increase my appetite, ugh! You would look darling in a tow sack as my memaw would say! I appreciate you putting R&F at the end so we can always get your good stories at the beginning! Hope your respiratory infection gets cured.

    • Tania Reply

Julia, so far my appetite has stayed even, thank goodness! I have always tried to keep my R+F at the end of the posts, and I do not post about it EVERYDAY. I try to make it easy for those who are not interested but keep it for those who really want to see what the products are capable of doing.

  26. Chicki Atwell Reply

Gimme some of those steroids you all love! I need some more energy! Tania, so many things I love about your blog! Just don’t love the jewelry! Would love to see something high-end or vintage, antique, or passed-down from your grandmother. I realize it’s a line you are selling, but I think fine jewelry elevates an inexpensive outfit just as much as a LV handbag or MK shoes! Love your outing Joe when he messes up! Keep up the good work!

  27. Love your blog. I look forward to it every day. I like to see what clothes you put together, (I actually wore red & blush together recently!) I’m always tickled to read your stories…especially “JOE” stories. I appreciate your Sunday posts very much. Sometimes it seems like you know what I need that day!
I’d sure like some of that energy!

  28. First, I want to say I LOVE your life stories and the reasonably-priced, fantastic fashion you show on your blog. It’s the reason I began following you (and I coveted your short, asymmetrical haircut then too!). However, I would have to ditto the others who have commented about the R&F “selling” on your blog….It’s my least favorite part. I cannot afford their products. When I see all the lavish trips they provide their consultants, I have to wonder if the company would cut back on all that excess, then maybe they could lower their product prices and make everything more affordable for those of us who do not have the extra money to spend on expensive facial products. I understand that with R&F, It’s beneficial to get more people signed up on your team, so what better way than to push it on your blog that has a tremendous audience. I do skip past the R&F part as much as possible, but it still tends to annoy me. I miss the days of old where it was just about you, your funny family and friends, and fashion! Whatever happened to your two best friends from the lumber company? Did they retire too? I miss seeing your stories with them.

    • Tania Reply

Shirley, I am glad that you “maybe” enjoy the blog. Lol! I could explain how the products are more affordable than you think, but I am not trying to convince you. I never surprise my audience by posting about RF anywhere other than at the end of the post. I am sorry that annoys you.

  29. I follow a couple blogs. You are hands down my favorite! I love your real life stories.
Your clothes are fantastic and most importantly affordable. Love the jewelry and the shoes, even if your heels are too high for me.
It so good to know someone else’s life is sometimes a little crazy too.
    Keep your real life coming!

    • Tania Reply

Yay!!! I am glad to know that I am one of your favorites.

  30. Rosalind headley Reply

I always totally skip the R-F parts and wish it occupied less space on your blog. I thoroughly enjoy your life stories and your clothes.

    • Tania Reply

Thanks for reading my blog. I am glad that you enjoy my stories and my clothes.

  31. You were one busy lady yesterday. I think I need some steroids 😂.

    • Tania Reply

I enjoyed being busy! I wish that I had that much energy all the time.

  32. Love your blog. Would like to see more clothing that hides the belly(if hiding the belly is even possible lol)!

    • Tania Reply

Cindy, believe me, I try to hide the belly. That is one of my LARGEST flaws!

      • Cindy Baker Reply

Lol…If you have a large belly, you are doing a great job of hiding it. I will follow your lead in clothing 🙂

  33. Do not change a thing. I love your blog because I can identify with you and your lifestyle. I also like that you wear affordable clothes. I’m a southern woman by the grace of God and a Christian. Mama always told me to take what I can use and leave the rest. It works for me. : )

    • Tania Reply

Thanks so much!!! I am like you, I cherry-pick my information when I read others posts, whether from a blog, Facebook, or instagram. I am so glad that you won’t change a thing.

  34. I agree with several others and don’t like the R&F parts. I cannot afford them and not sure I would spend that much money on skin care products even if I could. I know I can skip over that part and I do, but it makes me wonder if some women are convinced to buy the products even if they cannot afford them. That said…..I love your blog, the ideas and choices for clothing, especially from affordable sites. Also love the stories about your life and family! Love the Sunday posts and the fact you are not ashamed to proclaim your faith. (That makes up for the fact of the part I don’t like). 😊

    • Tania Reply

Judy, I am sorry that you are not a fan of the fact that I post about my skincare. I love R+F, and I used it before I ever started selling it, or posting about it. I only started posting because I was asked what I was doing. I do not EVER message anyone from the blog to try RF. I do not think that anyone is swayed to buy something they can’t afford because there is a money-back guarantee where they could send it back if they have buyers remorse. I do make a conscious effort to only post at the end of my blog so that women who are not interested can easily skip those parts. I am so glad that you love my Sunday posts and stories about my life and family. Thanks for being a faithful reader, and remember that I am still taking steroids, so I appologize if I am being overly sensitive.

  35. I think I need some steroids!! Impressive amount of work done at so early in the morning. I’m am big into camo right now – actually I have been all summer. I like the swing dress – one of my favorite styles. Cute! Cute!

    • Tania Reply

I am a big fan of swing dress! They really work to help cover my flaws.

  36. I forgot to comment about any changes you should make. My answer is NONE AT ALL. I loved your blog first time I read it over 2 years ago and still do. It’s my favorite! And I’m glad you posted about R+F because I now have the healthiest, best skin I’ve ever had – yes, me the skeptic is applauding you. It’s also become a life-changing business for me that I would never have had if it wasn’t for your little blurbs at the end of your blog. I thank you for that. 😊. Don’t stop sharing the products or the business it could change someone else’s life too.

    • Tania Reply

Johnna, you are a breath of fresh air! You have become one of my best friends, and yes, it was because of a blurb at the end of my blog. I can see the difference in you also. It is funny how it changes your life and attitude. See you in Nashville!

  37. Hi Tania – I am a long time blog reader. I was reading before R&F. I remember thinking wow her complexion looks better, I wonder what she is doing. I know R&F products are very good but they are expensive. Some people just cannot afford them and some who could may just not be willing to pay the price. I am probably in the middle. I always look to see if you are offering a special. If I had a blog and sold R&F I would definitely mention them because it’s the perfect forum. So I think having at the end is a great compromise. I love your family stories and think you are such an easy read. You have made me think about color and what looks best on me. I am at a point in my life where I want to be more selective and feel I need to edit what I have. I also think environmentally more people may be trying to use what they have. So any suggestions there would be appreciated. Hope you are feeling better every day.

  38. Don’t change a thing. I love reading your blog everyday and you are one of the few I am subscribed to who is actually diligent about posting on a regular basis. Love the ‘Joe’ stories because they add authenticity to your blog. Keep up the good work. You have a real talent for fashion.

  39. I love your lead-in stories, about your life and happenings. Please don’t stop sharing about that! I also love your style, though, every once in a while, I’m not fond of an outfit (mostly because it’s not really my style/taste or I don’t think it’s as flattering on you as most other things are) and am always so surprised when I read the comments and others are gushing over it! Just goes to show that “to each their own”! Admittedly, I breeze past the R&F section too, but appreciate that you put it at the end so I can do that without missing the majority of your post that I do love to read.

  40. I recently began following your blog because I liked your style posts on Pinterest. I enjoy seeing how you put together an outfit with all the accessories, as I am trying to open myself up to new styles and it gives me great ideas! Even though we are not the same coloring, I find myself trying some of things you have shown. I enjoy seeing the items you are passionate about. Keep doing what feels right to you, I’ll be following along.
