50 IS NOT OLD | NEUTRAL FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40You gurls have heard me say over and over again that I don’t cook. It is not that I can’t cook; it is that I decided not to cook anymore. When I started blogging, I was working full time, and then I would come home and have to start the blog. I didn’t have time to cook and clean up the mess, and also do the blog. I was too stressed trying to get it all done that Joe said that we could start “scrounging” each night and eat whatever we had handy. You might can tell from my photos that I am not missing any meals. Hahaha
50 IS NOT OLD | NEUTRAL FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40I used to like to grill out in the summer months, but I have even given that up. But, I think that things might be changing, and I might even start cooking again. No, I am not giving up blogging, but we got a new toy, and I love it so far. It is the Blackstone Griddle, and I have cooked every night since we put it on the back porch. I cooked chicken and asparagus on the griddle last night, and it was delicious! The chicken was so tender and juicy, and even though I was not a huge fan of asparagus before, I ate all of it last night. I even ate the asparagus before I tried the chicken. Joe had to play on it too, so he cooked three eggs. Lol! That night we had bacon and eggs, but it was easy, and my house didn’t smell like bacon for the next three days, so that is a huge plus. I would love it if any of you have one of these griddles and have a recipe that you want to share. Here is the one that we purchased.
Doesn’t that look good?
50 IS NOT OLD | NEUTRAL FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40Here is your color-loving blogger, styling a neutral outfit once again. I have not idea what has happened, but I am loving neutrals for the first time! This sleeveless sweater has the cutest open-weave yoke. I love the fact that it is sleeveless because that makes it so easy to wear under a blazer or a jacket. I will continue to wear this sweater all year round, not only in the spring and summer. I am wearing a large in the sweater, and it fits me perfectly. Here is the link to the website.50 IS NOT OLD | NEUTRAL FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40 You might have noticed that I did a quick change on the top for you. I thought that you might want to see how changing the top for a darker color changes the look. I am wearing a simple navy v-neck that I believe came from Old Navy years ago. The jewelry pops off of the navy top. Both the earrings and the necklace are old pieces and no longer on the website.
50 IS NOT OLD | NEUTRAL FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40The utility vest that I have on is from last year. I love a waterfall vest because I think it is slimming. I hope this style stays in the stores for a long time, but they never seem to stay very long. There are a few waterfall vests on the Cato website,  just not in this color. My extremely comfortable ballet shoes are from Nordstrom, and they are Tory Burch. I love these because they are cute as well as comfortable. That is a combination that is hard to find. Here is the link to the shoes.
50 IS NOT OLD | NEUTRAL FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40I did some math on Google today, and here is what I found. Did you know that you could take a 1,000.00 and put it in a savings account at the bank, and you would probably earn less than 3% from your money? At the end of 5 years, you would have made 159.27, bringing your total to 1159.27. That isn’t bad for leaving your money sitting in the bank. But, is that really how much you want to earn in 5 years??? This is what I was talking about on yesterday’s blog when I said that we need to figure out how to make money work for us. Earning 159.27 in 5 years is not smart!!! But, that is how we have all be taught, you stock your money in savings where it only earns a piddly amount of interest. Look at the people who have lots of money, do they stock it back, or do they reinvest it in other opportunities? You and I both know the answer to the question. I guess the real questions is, why don’t you do the same???

I made a one-time investment, and now I bring in a monthly income. If I had saved that money and put it in savings, do you know how much I would have? My money would have barely grown. We let fear keep us from seeing opportunities that come our way. This time, I want you to use fear to your advantage. I want you to say what will I miss out on, instead of will I fail? Quit doubting yourself and letting this opportunity pass you by. You are capable, you are smart, and you have what it takes. Now, invest in yourself, and see how your life in a whole different way! I can’t wait to see who will recognize this opportunity; most sadly won’t. Email me at taniastephens12@gmail.com

It is awful! We have been taught the wrong way to have more money since we were small.

  1. Love your neutral look today! I’m SO ready for some cooler weather. These high 90’s & triple digit heat indexes are a killer! I’m curious….are you going to cook on your new outdoor griddle all winter outside? I have often wished for a griddle I could use on the stove inside!

I hope to be able to use it in the winter. But, my biggest problem is that I need something to keep the rain off of me when I am cooking. I am working on Joe to get him to address that problem.

I am really loving neutrals this year!!! You are right, the food was delicious.

  2. Our banks are very fussy about what we can and cannot do. I save all our loose change and every so often put it into bags and have it put back into our account. The bank will now only take a certain amount of coin bags and they have to be full of the correct coinage. They will not accept any part full bags! I always thought banks were there for our service and not to say what we can and cannot do with our personal accounts. Regards – Jill stylishatsixty

  3. I forget we can combine most neutrals together and get in a rut wearing the same neutrals together. I going to walk on the wild side and mix brown with grey. LOL I think I’m leaning more toward the first look. Lighter just appeals to me more now than I’ve gone all silver. Had no idea my hair would be silver. I like it.

  4. We have one of those griddles, we got it last year and we used it all winter too. We cook all our bacon on it. We got a big one for the lake because we have a big crowd. We love to cook pancakes and French toast on it. I could go on and on about. We love it.
