50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO EXTEND YOUR WARDROBE SERIES | FASHION OVER 40The GRANDS are here, the GRANDS are here!!! I am channeling Paul Revere today, but I do feel like shouting from the rooftop. I live five hours away from my three grandchildren who live in Tennessee, so I don’t get to see them near as often as I would like. I am envious of anyone who has all of their children and grandchildren living in the same vicinity, or even an hour or two away. I have two who live next door to me, so I know how much fun it can be to have them close.
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO EXTEND YOUR WARDROBE SERIES | FASHION OVER 40I need to run to the store and stock up on EVERYTHING! Lol! Poor Joe and I tend to scrounge, so we never have a stocked pantry or refrigerator. With three children in the house, you have to have plenty of food available, so I usually send my son to do the grocery shopping. I don’t know about you, but I hate it when I send someone to the store to buy me a product, and they come back with the wrong brand. So, I send my son to do the shopping since he knows what they all like and will eat. Plus, my daughter-in-law is a great cook, so she does a lot of the cooking while she is here. I love it when they come to visit; it is like a mini vacation. A vacation that ALL my grandchildren are with me!!! Color me a happy camper!
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO EXTEND YOUR WARDROBE SERIES | FASHION OVER 40I am going to do a series this week. You gurls all seem to like it when I take an item, and then show you how to style it in multiple ways. I am starting it off today with this plain tank top from the Chicos Off The Rack. The lighting doesn’t show the color well on this top; it is an oatmeal color. Doesn’t that sound appetizing? The reason that I picked this tank to style for you in several ways is that it is a neutral that can be worn with a lot of combinations. The oatmeal color does not look great against my skin tone, so you will see how I wear the top so that it works for me. This is a scoop-neck top, so it is flattering by making my neck appear longer, which makes my face look thinner. These tanks are on sale, so I stocked up in several colors. I ordered these in size 2, which is larger than I usually order. I wanted to make sure that these didn’t fit me tight since I knew that I would wear them as a stand-alone piece, instead of always wearing them under a cardigan or jacket.
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO EXTEND YOUR WARDROBE SERIES | FASHION OVER 40Because oatmeal doesn’t look great with my skin tone, I added this beautiful summer scarf as an accessory. Blue is a color that I love wearing, and this scarf has a print on it that contains the oatmeal color. Ding, ding, ding! All of the attention is on the scarf, and no one even pays attention to what top I have on. This is a great way that you can wear the same top over and over again, and no one even noticing. My scarf is old, and I am not sure where I purchased it. I do get a lot of my scarves from Cato Fashions and Old Navy, so it is possible that it came from there. Here are several similar scarves, and they are all on sale.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO EXTEND YOUR WARDROBE SERIES | FASHION OVER 40Sorry that my lens fogged up on me when I went to take the pictures. It is getting that time of the year when the humidity is high. I have to take my camera outside and let it sit there for about 30 minutes before I can take pictures when this time of year comes around. That gives the lenses time to acclimate to the temperature outside, and not fog up. I have on a pair of summer jeans that I bought last year. These are the Tanya, (why I had to have them) and they are by Reba.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO EXTEND YOUR WARDROBE SERIES | FASHION OVER 40I can’t believe that July is already here. How did the first six months of this year go by so fast? That is how I sometimes feel when I look in the mirror…how did time go by so fast? That is why I work so hard to keep the hands of time from showing on my face. I am trying to increase my water intake, I am looking into ordering silk pillowcases to sleep on, and I use highly effective products on my skin. I am not telling you this because I sell Rodan + Fields, I am telling you this because I want you to be aware that you do have the power to change the way your skin looks. Did you know that only 20% of aging is genetic, and the rest is in your control? Take control of your skin, and if you choose to use the same products that I am using, then you have a 60-day money back guarantee on all the products. Here is how you order: go here and take the solutions tool. That will give you an idea of what products you need. If you are still confused, shoot me an email, and I will try and help to see what works best for you. (fiftyisnotold@gmail.com) Then hit the shop tab and choose your products, and go to checkout. At checkout, you will see a box to check that says Join PC Perks, click that to become my Preferred Customer and receive 10% off and FREE shipping. I am implementing a new program for my PC’s where each month they will have the option of ordering the Product of the Month at substantial savings. This is from me, not Rodan + Fields, so other consultants do not offer this. This is only for MY customers.

I can’t wait to see your series this week and I love the fringe hem jeans. You have inspired me!! Enjoy those grandbabies!

Doing the series is going to make doing the blog easier with the grands here.

  2. I like your shoes!!! What brand are they? I’d love the link to those.

    • Tania Reply

Kellie, those are an old pair of Aerosoles that have had forever.

  3. Enjoy your family time! I like your series blogs. They give me fresh ideas on how to style my clothes. I tend to get in a rut wirh familiar combinations

Exactly, Janet. We all get in a rut, myself included.

I too live far away from my grands. I am in the Atlanta area and they are in Vero Beach, Florida so it is about a 10 hour trip for us. I am so happy for you that you get to spend this time together 🙂 Have a wonderful week!!

My 5-hour difference doesn’t sound so bad in comparison to a 10-hour drive.

I love scarves. They’re magic. You look super-duper. A simple top, jeans, ballet flats, and a scarf are my uniform.

I am a scarf kind of girl too. I think they change the look of an outfit instantly.

I envy you that your children and grandchildren are that close. Ours are a 10 hour drive away and a two day drive away.

      • Tania Reply

I hate that your children are so far away. It makes it so hard to visit.

Even though the top is simple, some of the outfits are pretty dressy. I think that you will like the series.

  6. Cute outfit and I love wearing scarves because it does help add color; but I have a hard time wearing this time of year when it’s in the 90’s so then I struggle with accessories to give an outfit a pop of color. I know a necklace would do it but then you have that chair adhering to your neck since it’s so hot…LOL Enjoy the grandkids. I’m so envious because you have some that live next door. I bet they have so much fun when they are all together.

Enjoy your grands, I’m lucky enough to have mine close and keep them 2 days a week! Love the outfit especially the fringe jeans. It reminds me I have a pair similar with a teal trim on the bottom and they’ll be perfect for the matinee with my grands tomorrow!

    • Tania Reply

Cathy, you are indeed lucky and blessed, to have your grands so close to you.

I am jealous of you!! My grands are a 7 hour FLIGHT away from me (or about a 6 day drive). I do have four close by that are older, but the littles are so far away!! Love the jeans!

    • Tania Reply

Ester, that makes it so hard when your loved ones are so far away. Thank goodness for the internet, Facetime, and ZOOM. You can keep close by some of those options.

  9. Love your posts, Im over 60 and do everything I can to look and feel younger , my kids and grandkids are close and I’m blessed for that!
