Can you believe that a month has already passed since we were watching the ball drop and welcoming in the new year? So, how are those resolutions going, or do I even need to ask? I have a couple that is still going strong, but there are one or two that never even made it to January 2nd. Lol! I am going to look into Paleo and Keto, but I need to keep it simple.   3. Hi Tania. I so enjoy your “Joe” stories! Re weight loss, I hit age 63 last year & my weight was at an all time high. My size 16 jeans were starting to feel tight! So myself, along with a few family members joined Weight Watchers. After 5 months (think slow & steady), I was down 25 lbs. & into size 14 jeans. I went to the meetings more so in the beginning but now that I’m into the program I’ve been just doing the weigh-in. I made it through the holidays & came out with only a 1 lb. gain, yay! I love that I can use the WW app for their point system & it keeps me accountable. With the app you can scan the bar code on everything in the store to see the point value. And if you don’t have a WW in your area, then you can start one! (Something else you can add to your busy day, lol!). It’s all about eating smart, weeding out the junk (I don’t deprive myself of my goodies, but I find I don’t need the sweets as much). Stick with your veggies & lean meats & you’re good to go. There are sooo many amazing WW meals/tips (especially desserts) on the internet. My goal is another 25 lbs by July then it’s maintenance! The older you are when you loose weight, the more it shows in your face, so now I’m seeing some of that saggy neck skin though…I can work on toning that flabby arm skin now, but that neck….well, that’s the trade off for the weight loss!     Two things worked equally as well for me, but Keto definitely had me feeling the best. The first thing I tried was simply using the My Fitness Pal app and logging every single thing I ate…every bite. I stayed within my macros and dropped weight quickly. I did it for about 2 1/2 years with great results, even though it only took a few months to lose the weight.

    Back in 2017, I decided to do Keto to see how I would feel. The first two weeks were awful, but after that, it was great. My body felt so much better without the carbs.

    Life happens and stress definitely comes with it. I fell off of the Keto wagon, but I am disciplined enough now to generally stay within my mental macros. I have maintained my weight for over a year.

  5. Hi Tania, almost 2 years ago I changed my lifestyle after being mistaken for my mother in laws sister! I was sugar addicted and had been eating whatever I wanted for my whole adult life. of course, I had tried diets before but after 12 pounds I would reward myself with sugar and then it was over. I was really good at losing 12 pounds. now I am down 55 pounds and my success lies in starting to exercise (only 5 min on an elliptical 3 times a week at first, now I exercise 20-30 minutes everyday and have even run a marathon) and using My Fitness Pal to honestly watch what I eat. I have to eat a lot of protein to stay full, and that was how I changed my life. not very exciting, but I am very busy and don’t have time for meetings and am not willing to cook separate meals from my family. portion control, protein and exercise. I wish there was a magic wand but this how I am achieving success everyday.

    Love your selection for today. Beautiful colors. I have been following your blog for a couple years. I was looking for help of styling as newly retired. I found so much more. I love your style and I so relate. I am encouraged each week by the inspirational posts. I love the community and enjoy the comments. Last October,in response to your interest to lose weight , I saw a little comment from a reader that mentioned a way of losing weight. It was about a book called “Delay,Don’t Deny” by Gin Stephens. I read the book and began 9/1/18. I have dieted my whole life and never found an easier more satisfying way of eating. No cost, no counting,no stress. I have lost about 30 lbs. This is my new way of life and it is a part of a very large community. I highly recommend,give it a look.

  8. I absolutely adore those two colours together, including the beads and would never have put them together myself. You are such an inspiration. Before reading your blog I would have worn two colours together, whereas today I am wearing a mixture of yellow and turquoise with a multi coloured scarf lol. My new years resolution was to join the gym with my partner and so far we have kept it up and are visiting three times a week. I just cant bring myself to cut out chocolate though and I do need to lose weight as I am getting married on the 15th November and I want to look and feel fabulous. This is being followed up with a trip to New York on the 30th so that is my motivator. SHOPPING….

  10. Be sure to add exercise in every day! I get up at 4:00 5 times a week & hit the gym. I’ve been doing it now for about 6 months & it isn’t always easy but once I get my workout in I feel great & am energized for the day. I also have been one to eat pretty healthy but if I want to cheat every once in awhile it’s ok but I usually feel guilty if I do cheat. lol. The 2 days I don’t go to the gym I put in a kettle bell DVD & do a 30 minute workout. Good luck!!

  11. Love that color combo! I hear ya with the weight thing. I am fighting the menopause weight. My husband and I do some ort of a fast at the beginning of every year. This year, it’s the Daniel Fast, and I also added in intermittent fasting where I only eat between an 8 hour window. This seems to be doing it for me. I feel so good, I am even thinking of going vegetarian (well, mostly….)

  12. Beautiful color in that top and I really need to look into Vigoss jeans as I love them everytime you wear them! I decided this week that I am tired of making two separate meals..one for hubby and one for me. I have been trying to eat “healthier” the past six months but have found then that I eat more sweets and snacks then usual. My hubby wouldn’t eat any fruits or veggies if I didn’t put them in front of him and he stays the same size. So starting in February, I am going to try and eat a smaller portion of what I make him and then hopefully be satisfied with one sweet a day. If I feel I need more, then I will make a chocolate protein drink. I don’t know if this will work, but I hate coming up with two different things to make for each meal. I also exercise 30 min. a day and then try to get in additional walking. Wearing a Fitbit helps me know where I’m at with steps throughout the day. Good luck with what you are trying.

  14. I love that top. The color is so pretty and looks good on you. The turquoise jewelry is a good choice too. Gives the look added interest. Ive read about those shoes too. I bet they are comfortable. I’m lucky to have a good fast metabolism so I don’t have to diet but my husband and son have been on the Keto diet. I think it’s not too healthy myself but they’ve lost a few pounds pretty fast. They’re doing this for a month then going to a moderate well balanced diet minus sugary drinks etc.

  17. Intermittent fasting has been mentioned above at least three times and I’ll say it again. IF isn’t a “diet” but a lifestyle change, one that is SO easy to implement. Eat basically what you want, though sensibly, in an 8 hour window, nothing for the rest of the 24 hour period. How simple is that? I’m not hungry first thing in the morning so I usually eat breakfast at 10:30 (fruit, yogurt, a crepe and hot beverage). I’m not hungry again until 2 when I have a salad (I love Costco’s individually prepared Santa Fe salads). Then I eat a sensible dinner. Chocolate in some form is a must for me every day. Daily walks and one to two sessions of reformer Pilates a week keep me toned. (Don’t you just love how when you mention “diet”, everyone has something to say, lol?!)

    You look great, BTW!! Love how you paired the turquoise and plum color; that never would have occurred to me!

    Love all your stories, keeps me entertained for sure. As far as weight loss, low carb is the way to go. I like Atkins. It is easy to follow. Go to Atkins.com, start at Atkins 20 and you are on your way. I feel so much better cutting out sugar and carbs. I’m down 13 lbs since Christmas. I found Keto too complicated. I like simple.

    Please don’t do the keto diet for weight loss. It is great for that but there are negative consequences for long-term health. A moderately lower-carb diet with about a 100 grams or so of carbs will allow a lot of variety. Adjust for your personal metabolism and activity level. Using a monitoring app like My Fitness Pal can be helpful even if you do nothing else.

    I’ve lost 55 lbs slowly over the last two years by having a lot of fruit for breakfast, a large salad with meat or seafood for lunch, and meat with cooked veggies for dinner. Large portions at meals with no snacking in between. There is no need to ever feel hungry. Variety is the key to good nutrition. With careful choices, you can still eat out. Slow and steady will preserve gallbladder health and reduce sagging skin. Rapid weight loss can result in surgery.

    Whatever you choose, please look into the long term health effects.

    I want to add my favorite healthy eating plan to the list of other responders. I Know God makes us all different and I hope you find a plan that works for you. I love my “Trim Healthy Mama” plan. Their book is on their website and on amazon or library….. I hear you about wanting something easy. This was for me. The book comes with recipes. I choose 3 for each meal and rotated. But once I got going it is great. The authors are: sisters, believers, they live in Tennessee and the approach is Bible based.

  22. I have no doubt you will achieve your weight loss goal just like everything else you have accomplished. I am convinced Keto and intermittent fasting are the way to go. Start simple and with a daily routine to help you stick with it. I will find the video I have pinned that tells you how to prevent the Keto “flu”.

    Very cute outfit and beautiful color! I love that top! Tania, I have done the Keto diet last year and lost 30 lbs in 4 mo and it was the easiest diet ever! No measuring, counting calories! You make regular foods but instead of using oatmeal in meatloaf you use quinoa, instead of pasta you make zuccini noodles w a zoodler, any chicken, fish or beef and lots of green veggies. You can even make cookies and “fat bomb” candies! Just no potatoes, pasta or regular bread! But I even made keto bread, pancakes, cinnamon rolls! Try it! You ‘re never hungry or feeling deprived. Pinterest has great recipes! P.S. I’ve NEVER worn a two piece- even when I was 110 lbs!
