50 IS NOT OLD | BLACK ON BLACK STYLE | FASHION OVER 40Gurls, I am going on the road again. This time, I am going to be going to San Francisco California, and I have never been there before. I had a lot of friends on FaceBook leave me some “must do” things to do since I will only be there for a few days. I have never been one to travel before; I figured that it was expensive and I could “see” all of the sights on the internet. Plus, the biggest obstacle for me when it comes to traveling has been my fear of flying. I have let an unreasonable fear keep me for going and enjoying different cities and places. I would choose to spend 12 hours in a car driving to Florida instead of hopping on a plane that can get me there in about 1.5 hours. (Insert shaking head here.)50 IS NOT OLD | BLACK ON BLACK STYLE | FASHION OVER 40This trip isn’t costing me much since I am being flown out there, put up in a lovely hotel, treated to a wonderful reception with heavy appetizers and drinks, a tour of the R+F headquarters, and some training by some of their staff. Wow! Someone needs to drive to my house and pinch me because I am still in a daze. I decided to stay an extra day so that I could do some sightseeing so this coming Saturday I will be jamming as much into my day as I possibly can. I can’t wait to share my adventure with all of you, and if it is half as nice as I have heard, I will probably be making another trip with Joe later. Be sure to shout out your favorite thing to do there since I can only choose a couple of activities.
50 IS NOT OLD | BLACK ON BLACK STYLE | FASHION OVER 40I love the texture and the zig-zag pattern of this sweater. This is by a fairly new brand called 1.State that was only launched in 2014. They try to bring clean architectural details to a feminine, modern look. I like what they have created, and I have another sweater from them that I will be showing you tomorrow. This fits true to size, and it is hand washable. It features a drop sleeve look and a crew neck which almost looks like a turtleneck on me. This sweater is very cozy, and it will become one of your favorites fast. Here is the link for women’s regular, and here is the link for women’s plus.  50 IS NOT OLD | BLACK ON BLACK STYLE | FASHION OVER 40I know that these red pumps were the first thing that you noticed in this picture. I am falling in love with this shoe designer even though I originally only bought his purses. The brand is Michael Kors, and I now have four or five pairs of his shoes, and everyone is so easy to wear. I took advantage of the Half Yearly sale from Nordstrom and bought this pair and another pair that will be a pair that I will wear in the spring and summer. Here are a few that I think are very similar. Believe me when I say that a pair of red pumps will change your outlook.

50 IS NOT OLD | BLACK ON BLACK STYLE | FASHION OVER 40I don’t have a clue what has me so tickled. My daughter was playing photographer today for me, so I am sure that she was making fun of me in some way. I thought that adding my wide leg black pants that I bought at Cato Fashions would keep this outfit looking dressy and classic. I don’t wear black a lot, but I do like the effect that you get from wearing black on black. I was trying to think the other day what one word would describe my style. The best that I could come up with was “colorful”, and then here I am wearing strictly black and white. I am glad that I decided to add the bright red pop of color so that I could still be considered colorful. What one word would you use to describe your style? Do not use pitiful, clueless, drab, or sad. You are reading my blog, so I would like to think that I have helped you change so that those words don’t apply. Lol!

I think you look gorgeous in black – you should wear it more often

Aww, thanks, Julie! I don’t mind black if it is not right up against my face. I like a brighter color against my face to brighten my look.

  2. Black on black is my daily choice. When I wear a color, people think I am crazy!🤣🤣🤣. I just love the look of black clothing, shoes, boots, purses, etc. You look great in black!😊

Have fun on your trip. I have never been to California, but my husband travels out there every couple of months.

Gina, you and my sister would look like twins. It is so funny when we shop since her entire cart is black, gray, or navy and I have all these wild prints and colors. Lol!

When I traveled to San Francisco by myself years ago, I only had one free afternoon so I took one of those city bus tours. It lasted 3-4 hours and I got to see a lot of highlights that I couldn’t have seen if I had tried to do it on my own. On another business trip I had my husband with me and we took a trolley to Fisherman’s Wharf on our free afternoon. Enjoy your trip!

  4. The trip sounds very exciting! I’ve never been so can’t recommend anything but look forward to hearing about it! Love the red shoes with black. Wish I could wear those heels!

  5. enjoy your trip! You look both classy and comfortable and the red is a great pop, cobalt blue would work as well for another great look. I would have to say my look is office casual, sometimes more office than casual and sometime more boho. I love to mix up my look and it has been so much easier since reading your blog=Thank You

  6. You look great from head-to-toe!! Love the pops of red!! Have a great time in SF!! Can’t wait to see your photos.

  7. I started reading your sunday blogs exclusively, loving your encouragement with spiritual faith. Eventually i started looking at your daily blogs and now experimenting with some of the looks you suggest. I’ve found you to be very refreshing amd very helpful with your suggestions. Keep up the good work. And BTW i love the red shoes.

  8. I just returned from a week in San Fransisco and Napa. It was wonderful! We spent time at the Warf, took a boat cruise around the bay and under theGolden Gate bridge, and walked the bridge. If you have a chance to drive south on hiway 1, DO IT! It is the most amazing drive every. Such a great place to visit. I will be back!

I love San Francisco! I haven’t been there for a long time but there’s so much to see and eat! I love your outfit. Sadly I don’t do well in heels anymore.

Love your whole outfit! The sweater is adorable and the pop of red is perfect! Enjoy your trip!

  11. San Francisco is my favorite city. I love to stand at the top of the crookiest street and enjoy the view of the bay. It is unbelievably beautiful. I took a bus tour in order to see the highlights of the city then come back with Joe and spend more time. It is a wonderful city. My style is comfortable. My basic colors that I wear are black, grey and beige.

  12. Love the outfit and the red shoes! Have fun on your trip and safe travels!

Safe is the only word I can come up with for my style. I do go blingy with shoes. Have a wonderful time.

  14. Love your blog Tania, and your style. Definitely take the hop on hop off bus tour. The tour guides are usually very good. You will see and learn alot. I would suggest you go in morning, you can have lunch at Fisherman’s warf and then continue on and get off at any of the attractions that interest you. If you can a trolley ride is cool as well. Alcatraz is another good tour but it may take too long and you may be too late for tickets. Don’t worry about the flight. Bring a good book and just try and relax.

  15. Lovely photos – black and white is always a glamorous combination adding the bold red turns the outfit to sassy.
Enjoy your tip and training – I am sure you will make the most of your extra day and I look forward to the photos and reading all about it. Safe journey – Jill x

  16. My style is primarily casual elegance. Thanks to your inspiration, I have stepped up my accessory game and now have a large collection of fashion jewelry that is mostly necklaces and bracelets. My scarf collection has also been enlarged.

I see your style as appropriately and eye-catchingly eclectic. You are always appropriately dressed for the occasion, but your personal style comes shining through and your looks are memorable.

    Thank you for this blog!

  17. San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities. The bus tour another person mentioned is a great idea. If you can, take a tour on Alcatraz also. Best views of the city from that island. And don’t forget to ride a cable car!!

I would say my style would be “fun”! That is a very classy beautiful style and the red earrings and heels just make the outfit! I am in love w that creek behind you! Is that on your property? If so, OH MY! I can’t wait to hear about your trip to San Francisco! The Wharf is my only recommendation of something I wouldn’t miss! Oh yeah, and Golden Gate Bridge! And you will love the food!!

  19. You look beautiful, I love your black and white outfit! I’m looking forward to the day when I can wear a sweater again. I’m ALWAYS hot so never go there!

  20. Love this outfit, Tania! You look great and the shoes really add a statement. Enjoy your trip to SF, but don’t expect too much. The City is filthy and you’ll see things you wish your eyes could erase. It’s a shame because it used to be a fabulous city to visit. We’re avid SF Giants fans and won’t even go to the City to see them play anymore. Last year we flew to Denver to watch them play.😭

  21. Head to Ghirardelli while in San Francisco! After a decadent hot chocolate or hot fudge sundae take the trolley up to Lombard Street! The view is gorgeous. You will have so much fun exploring this area; be sure to pack comfy shoes for walking. I love the red pumps with the black and white outfit. You look amazing!

  22. You look great as always. Loved the sweater so much I just ordered it in white/black. Good for you for getting out there and enjoying the fruits of your labor. You earned it. Ironic how you have a fear of flying and your hubby has his own plane. Hahaha…..

  23. I follow you because I too describe myself as colourful. I love seeing how there out colour together without looking tacky. You do that very well. You do look gorgeous in the black outfit too. Keep up the good work. FYI I am wearing ultraviolet today…over black.

  24. I live only thirty miles from San Francisco but hardly ever visit. The hop on hop off busses would be the way to go to see the city. I love the running musical production Beach Blanket Babylon. It’s intertaining, fun and the costumes are hilarious.

  25. I’ve been going to San Francisco for more years than I care to remember. It’s not the same anymore, but if you have a plan and know where to go, as well as areas to stay away from, you can see a lot in 1 day. This link, https://www.tripsavvy.com/san-francisco-in-a-day-1479082, covers a lot of helpful things to know and hits the best things to see and do. I would dress comfortably, wear shoes I could walk uphill in, and I would be very aware of my surroundings. Also, you might want to google up the most dangerous areas of San Francisco so you know ahead of time where you might want to avoid, especially if you’re by yourself. Hope you have a lovely and safe trip.

  26. Tania, I’m so thrilled that you’re going to San Francisco! I personally Love Fisherman’s Wharf, which has a few restaurants to saunter into, or you can eat soup in a sour dough bread bowl out on the street. 😉 You also should wander to Pier 39 which is blocks away, also on the waterfront. There are some touristy yet fun shops. Plus that’s where the piers where there are sea lions honking, swimming and basking in the sun. So fun to see! Then there is the trolley car and Lombard street. Those are all my faves. Good luck and have fun!

  27. I love your black on black look. Very classy. And the red is great!

I wore a lot of black because my “significant other” LOVED black. I have colorful tops but even years after he passed on, I still wear a lot of black & gray. (With my favorite red or burgundy.)

Have a great time on your trip.

  28. Really like this look- the pop of red is great! Travel- I’d much rather drive so we see more of the country along the way. Since it’s usually just my husband and myself- we are “free” to make little side stops if we want. Sure, most travel is on interstate- but we keep our eyes open for fun stops. Hate flying….

  29. Love this outfit! My daughter and her husband live in San Francisco. I think you will enjoy your time there. The West coast is so different from the East coast. It can be damp and the fog is real.

  30. Have a great trip to San Francisco Tania! I really like this outfit and the texture in the sweater. I’m so glad you chose to wear red shoes with the black and white, it really jazzes things up! Are you going to take those gorgeous red booties with the gold zippers to San Fran? You should, but I know you’ll be a knockout whatever outfits you take! Have fun!!!

  31. Boudin Sourdough Bakery is wonderful for breakfast or lunch! Have fun! You always look amazing and so well put together.
