50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR A CARDIGAN | FASHION OVER 40Today was a much better day for my cold. I am so glad that I have some energy and that I am no staying asleep on the couch all day long. Getting a shower, putting on some makeup, and finally getting out of my pajamas were the highlights for the day. In case there is anyone under 40 reading this, I will just tell you now……when you cough or sneeze, you run the risk of peeing on yourself. 😱 You just need to learn the stop, cross your legs, and wait method. Lol! Am I lying gurls???50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR A CARDIGAN | FASHION OVER 40 I wanted to share some BIG news that is happening today in the Stephens household. Today my baby, my youngest child, turns 29. Yep, my baby boy who just happens to be 6’4″ tall is having a birthday today!!! Woot Woot! That is part of my fantastic news and then the other part is……today my baby girl leaves Juneau heading home for the winter!!! I am thrilled for her to finally be home since she has been gone since at least 2009, maybe even longer. She asked me on the phone last night if I had talked to one of her friends. I told her no and asked why. She said that they knew that she was leaving Juneau today and thought I might have told them. When I mentioned that I might have told you “gurls” she said, WHAT??? You gave out all the details, etc. Lol!! Actually, I don’t think that I did tell everything but she knows me well enough to know that I might have. Hahaha! Let me put it to you this way; if you don’t want me to tell everyone something, then you have to say that it is a secret. Otherwise, it is free game. LOL! Treat me like you would a reporter…..”this is off the record.”
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR A CARDIGAN | FASHION OVER 40I have been wanting to wear this color scheme for a while. I love the dark olive pants and the old gold tank top together. This old gold color tank top is one that I have had for a while and it is always a favorite top for me in the fall season. I guess that it reminds me of the leaves after they turn colors. For those who might not be able to wear the brighter yellows, this color could work instead.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR A CARDIGAN | FASHION OVER 40I added the Daniella gold fringe earrings to the look. I had been wanting a pair of gold/mustard earrings so I was very happy when these came out in the catalog. Since I was adding a few gold/mustard accessories, I added the Dalls ring. I love the ring! It is heavy and a perfect fit. My large gold metal cuff is called the Muriel. It has removable links and will fit up to an 8.25 wrist. I left the best for last. I love the Italy necklace! I call this the Ivory necklace all the time and then I wonder why I can’t find it in the catalog. Lol! This and the Bronte are my two favorite necklaces right now. Of course, they are huge and very showy. What does that say about me? Lol! Just go to my website (here) and pick a party with my name in it.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR A CARDIGAN | FASHION OVER 40 I have been on the lookout for a pair of dark olive colored jeans. I have become a HUGE fan of NYDJ jeans, so I couldn’t resist these that came in my Trunk Club shipment last month. I have been waiting to show them on the blog until the weather got a little cooler and it has finally cooperated. I even saw frost this morning on my patio! The best part about these Marilyn twill jeans in the Sugar Pine color is….they are on sale!!! I am a sucker for a good sale. Lol! Go here to find them. 50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR A CARDIGAN | FASHION OVER 40This cardigan is old. I wanted to say that really fast since I know a lot of you are going to be mad at me because you can’t buy it. I am sorry, I bought this last year at a local boutique and I love it even though I don’t wear it that often. Because it is so noticeable people will remember it when I wear it. That is the downside of having a statement item. Here are a couple of suggestions instead.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR A CARDIGAN | FASHION OVER 40I sure am glad to be feeling better. Thanks for all of the kind thoughts and prayers that were sent my way! If Joe gets me sick again this year, you may need to be sending prayers his way because I am going to “jack his jaws.” Lol!

  1. Good morning from a cold but dry UK. Glad to hear you are feeling more like your old self. The olive and mustard look great together, how lucky you are to have a trunk club. I have never come across one of those here. They certainly send you some unusual items. Have a nice day.

  2. Glad you are feeling better Tania and it will be so lovely to have all your family near you love those colors on you yellow is s tricky colour 😆enjoy your day

  3. Good morning. I have a middle son celebrating his 36 birthday tomorrow. Why are the years seeming to fly by as I get older? Doesn’t matter. I have 3 sons who will always be my babies. Enjoy time with daughter but remember she has been her own boss for a long time. I tend to forget mine are grown up.and my motherly advice comes out. Your outfit is cute for the season.

  4. Good morning, Tania! SO glad you are feeling better. ❤️ You look marvelous! Happy birthday to Joseph! Safe and happy travels to Ashleigh! Blessings!

  5. Glad to hear your feeling better!! I appreciate your honesty in what women 50+ go through!! Keep it up!! Love your look!

  6. Love the colors on you. You look great in that yellow. I just got a pair of olive jeans myself. They are my new favorites. I almost spit tea out as I was reading about the sneezing thing. So true. Instinct has me crossing my legs if I even suspect I will cough or sneeze. Glad you are on the mend. Birthday wishes to your “baby” and wishing safe travels for your daughter.

  7. I too have been looking for dark olive jeans so went to place my order for these along with another color and realized after placing, I ordered two olive green and not the other color also..geesh…so getting that corrected as I type. So if your daughter didn’t know you shared about her coming home, does that mean she doesn’t read your daily posts…LOL ??? Safe travels to her as she makes her way back home. Probably a good thing you aren’t traveling back with her since you are just getting over being sick. You wouldn’t have had fun packing and getting ready to meet up with her.

  8. Hey that peeing problem doesn’t get better, just a age thing for us gurls!

  9. I have been wanting olive jeans too! And olive booties and olive earrings! Do you know if plunder has anything in olive? Love the outfit, glad you are feeling better!

  10. Love your blogs and your honesty about real life. You’re a joy to read.

Thanks, Charlotte. We are all alike so there is no need to pretend that we are something that we are not.

Good morning, Tania. I’m so glad you are feeling better. Birthday wishes to your baby and I hope your daughter has a safe and eventful time coming home. After 12 weeks from breaking my ankle I’m walking (like a pirate) on my own and feeling so much better about life. We take (I take) so much for granted! If you can get up on both feet and can fix yourself a cup of coffee and walk to your favorite seat in the house to drink that coffee, get down on your knees and thank God right now! Seriously, I’m so thankful that I can do that, without a scooter or crutches or help from my sweet husband, that put up with me forever. Sorry I made this post about me, but I’m praising God right now, with a big ole smile on my face. I’m still very swollen and have a limp, and pee my pants sometimes ;- 0 but thankful! Lol
The colors look great on you…Cute outfit. I have too much olive in my skin tone for those colors.

Melesa, I sat here with a big ole smile on my face also. You are so right about taking things for granted. We never know the shoes that someone else is walking in. I am tickled to hear that you are back being mobile, even if it is slower than normal.

  12. Glad you are feeling better. I too love those colors together. I need to look for mustard color items!
