I am running on empty. Everything in my life seems to be piling on me all at the same time. I know that I can’t be the only one who feels that same way. As women, we tend to juggle a lot of things in the air and most of the time we make it seem pretty easy. However, there are times when we might “drop” a thing or two. Then, there are times when the whole kit-and-kaboodle comes crashing down around us.
I am not a fan of flying but it seems like I have been doing my fair share of flying lately. One of the instructions that you will always hear the flight attendants tell you is to put on your own oxygen mask before attending to anyone else. I understand the concept but it is not in us (women) to operate in that manner. We want to take care of EVERYONE around us first and then whatever is left over, we will take for ourselves.
I feel like my life is starting to look like my cell phone. I see the low-battery light blinking and I am now running on the low-battery mode. That is the mode that keeps you going but you are not operating at your full capacity. That means that it cuts out things that are considered unnecessary and energy draining. For me, that would have been the extra time that I have been spending on making sure that I was eating correctly. It was the time that I had been spending on walking. My morning devotional time has also been cut short. And, in return for those few extra minutes gained by cutting out those activities, my energy has actually gone down instead of going up.
I need to be plugged into a power source. I need nourishment for my body and my soul. I have all of the necessary items to give me power but I actually need to use them. Just like with my phone, I have the cord to plug into the charging brick, I have the charging brick that plugs into the wall outlet, and I have the electricity that runs to the wall outlet. But, if any one of those things is not operating correctly, then the phone will not charge properly. In my life, I have nutritious food, I have a treadmill, and I have a Bible. But, unless I eat the right food in the right amounts, walk on the treadmill, and read and try to discern the word of God, then I am not plugged into my power sources.
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
Words that jump out of those verses at me are, bow, grant, strengthened, dwell, rooted, grounded, comprehend, love, knowledge, filled, abundantly, power, and glory.
It is easy to re-charge your battery when you have the correct power source. Eat the right food, walk the mile, and feel the strength and power that comes from the word of God.
Have A Blessed Day!
