50 IS NOT OLD | COCO CHANEL AND A CLASSIC LOOK | FASHION OVER 40Hello from the bright and sunny town of Grundy, Virginia!!! I am thrilled that we have had a day or two of sun after all the rain that we had last week. My yard has been saturated and I have tried to stay out of it especially if I am wearing high heels. I made the mistake one day last week of trying to take some pictures in the grass and when I went to move my shoe stayed stuck in the ground. Lol! I almost fell trying to make the shoe come with my foot. It was quite comical and I so glad that Joe was not home to witness the whole thing. There are just some things that he doesn’t need to witness. Lol!!!50 IS NOT OLD | COCO CHANEL AND A CLASSIC LOOK | FASHION OVER 40 For the next six months, I am going to be on call. I have been summoned to Federal Jury duty. I know that it is my civic duty BUT, the Federal courthouse is an hour and a half away from where I live. So, I will be looking at a 3-hour round trip at best. Also, if I get called for a case, then court starts at 8:00 am and can go until 6:00 pm. I would be looking at leaving my house around 6:00 in the morning and not getting home until at least 7:30 at night. The $50.00 per day that I will get paid sure doesn’t sound that appealing when I could be looking at a 13 1/2 hour day. That would turn into me making roughly $3.70 per hour PLUS, I am also out the gas money. And, if money was not the issue, and if driving 3 hours round trip was not the issue, then how about the part where I am still going to have to do the blog and they won’t let me take a phone into the courthouse. Lol! I don’t guess what you will be getting “what to wear on jury duty” photos. Lol!!! Oh, did I happen to mention that I am on call for SIX MONTHS!!! How am I supposed to put my life on hold for SIX MONTHS??? That is crazy!50 IS NOT OLD | COCO CHANEL AND A CLASSIC LOOK | FASHION OVER 40 If I had to pick a “brand” that I knew I would fit my style, it would be Eliza J. I say that because I have never gotten anything from this brand that I didn’t like. I had never even heard of this brand until I got my first dress in one of my Trunk Club shipments and I have been hooked ever since. This dress is one of Joe’s favorites and he compliments me everytime that I wear it. 😊 Who doesn’t like to get compliments??? I loved this dress for several reasons and the first one was, quality. Eliza J is a very nice line and everything I have gotten has been lined and a thick material. I love the fit, their items have all ran true to size. And, I love the style on this dress. Stripes is a classic print but the cute tassels make this dress modern also. I would say the pricing of the dresses is in the medium range, at least for me. If you have been used to paying 400.00 for a dress, then you will think the prices are cheap. And, if you have been used to paying 24.95 for a dress, then you will think the prices are expensive. Lol! Everything is all relative.

50 IS NOT OLD | COCO CHANEL AND A CLASSIC LOOK | FASHION OVER 40Pearls, pearls, pearls. Can you sing that to the Motley Crue song, “Girls, Girls, Girls?” Lol!!! Try getting that song out of your head for the rest of the day. Hahaha. I am loving the new pearl jewelry from Plunder Design this fall. The vibe that I was going for was based on Coco Chanel and I actually have another pearl necklace to add to this look but I was running late for church so I just went with the Alicia and the Brindy. The Alicia has three different strands and a cameo that is attached to one of the strands and the Brindy is a single strand with a gorgeous rhinestone clasp. I also added the Nola pearl cluster stud earrings that really make a nice statement. They are showy without being too large and over-the-top. My goal was to be noticed but to also be more classic. So, how did I do? If you are interested in getting your own Plunder jewelry, then go here and be sure to pick a party with my name in it.
50 IS NOT OLD | COCO CHANEL AND A CLASSIC LOOK | FASHION OVER 40I love lots of color, so I added this hot pink 3/4 sleeve cardigan to the dress to brighten it up. Plus, it is always cold in church so this served two purposes for me. Joe is the one whose body temperature runs hot but even he was scooting closer to me last Sunday trying to stay warm. Lol! I also added my new Kate Spade leopard print handbag to add some fun to the outfit. I don’t carry small handbags usually but I will out on dates or to places that I don’t want to have to keep up with my bigger bags.

50 IS NOT OLD | COCO CHANEL AND A CLASSIC LOOK | FASHION OVER 40I went on Facebook with no makeup Wednesday morning. 😱 Joe can’t understand why on earth that I would do that. I told him that he sees me all the time with no makeup on and that I go on the blog with none on, and that is seen is several different countries, so why would I care to go on Facebook? He didn’t have a good explanation for that! Lol! So, that got me curious……….how many of you wear makeup every day, or at least most days?

Yesterday, I shared the story on my latest consultant who told me why she wanted to join me in business. I said that you could check out the different options that were available to you, but, I forgot to give you the link to do that. Lol! SO, if you are interested in learning more, click HERE!

  1. Good morning, Tania!

You look so spiffy. Definitely a look I’d wear for work or church. If I wore dresses any more.

Just got a chestnut-goldish sweater that I’d never have bought normally (not really my color) but it’s SO cute. And thanks to your input, I realize I have several things to wear with it.

Jury duty. Could you stay in the town where the court is located? I certainly wouldn’t want to experience those LONG days. And driving when tired. My son works an hour away & I pray for his safety every day.

Love hearing from you each day.

Thanks, Jeannie! I love wearing dresses, even if my pale legs show. Lol! About jury duty, if I lived 90 miles away then they would put me up in a hotel if I had to stay for multiple days but I am on 60 miles away. The reason that it takes me so long to get there is that I live in the mountains with VERY curvy roads and you cannot drive fast on them.

The new Plunder jewelry looks amazing on you and the Coco Chanel layering is working! My Plunder Alicia necklace was in my mail today. I got the Gentry pearl earrings and they are big but look ok with the Alicia necklace. I like your button earrings, they are stylish. Your whole outfit looks great. Sorry about your Jury duty. I am 70 now and so I don’t have to serve on Jury duty anymore here in California.😉

    • Tania Reply

Yay!!! I am thrilled that you also got the Alicia necklace!!! I love the Gentry pearl earrings but I think I will wear them more with jeans and a younger, trendier look.

  3. Gosh your jury duty sounds horrendous. At least here in the UK courts are more accessible.

How about preparing a few more videos. Time consuming for you to put together but would be available to use at the lat minute. I feel sorry for you.

However, I love what you are wearing. So cheerful and a perfect fit.

  4. Tania, this is one of your best styled outfits! Love all of it. Great job! I wear makeup every day to work, and on the weekends if I’m leaving the house. I may skip it if I’m sure I’m staying home. Haha, I need all the help I can get.😁

    • Tania Reply

Thanks Holly!!! Joe will be tickled to hear that one of his favorite outfits was mentioned at a “best-styled” outfit. Lol!

  5. Love the outfit…I have a similar dress and will try hot pink with it now! I think you may get some money for your travel if you serve on Grand Jury. I found this: Federal jurors are paid $50 a day. Jurors can receive up to $60 a day after serving 45 days on a grand jury. (Employees of the federal government are paid their regular salary in lieu of this fee.) Jurors also are reimbursed for reasonable transportation expenses and parking fees.
Hopefully, you won’t need to find out! 😊

Marcia, it really isn’t the money and it isn’t even the traveling that is my real problem. My biggest problem is the fact that my life is on hold for 6 months. No spontaneous trips…….

  6. Cute outfit! I wear makeup every day to work. I feel more polished and confident and frankly have always enjoyed playing with makeup. On weekends it depends what I’m doing. Im happy to go natural too.

    • I was on federal jury duty a few years ago, and I was on call for a year. It was difficult, but it was also very interesting to see the justice system process up close. I wear some makeup every day-us southern girls love our makeup!

      • Tania Reply

Teresa, I have NO interest in seeing the justice system up close! Lol! I will leave that to others who find that fascinating. I just want stick to my interests and play on my computer. But, you can rest assured that I will have makeup on when I am there. Hahaha!

    • Tania Reply

Janet, you and I are on the same page. I love makeup and I just don’t feel dressed unless I have it on.

  7. Love this outfit!! That dress is adorable with the stripes and the fringe on the bottom. Love the way you mixed leopard and hot pink with it!

I never, ever go without makeup unless I’m sick as a dog! I just don’t feel awake or productive without it. In other words, the mascara makes me feel like my eyes are open. 🙂

    • Tania Reply

Thanks, Stacey! I agree with you about the makeup. If you cringe when others see you without it then that is a sign that you need to put it on every day.

  8. Great outfit. I love the colors!

Thank you for accepting jury duty — especially with the lengthy travel involved! Wow — you are a great American!

    • Charlcy Green Reply

I will never be as brave as you and go on line or in public w no make up! Kudos to you, woman w good self confidence! I love the cute dress w that hot pink color. Beautiful scenery too!!

    • Tania Reply

Beth, I am not sure that “accepting” is the correct term since I really didn’t have a choice. Lol!

  9. You look gorgeous♡ The pink sweater and pumps really pop this outfit. I have always wanted to serve as a juror as a learning experience, but NOT for six months, that has to take a toll on everyone’s health, home life, etc.
I NEVER am without a little makeup, I’m a very pale redhead and my eyelashes and eyebrows are invisible without makeup, my husband wouldn’t even recognize me!!

  10. Sandy Avery Reply

The hours you might have to put in are the hours many working mothers with children struggle with. Be thankful you may only be looking at that for 6 months. If they have to pay for child care, it is like working for $50 a day.

Your outfit is very cute and the pop of color really finishes the look.

  11. Kelly Shipps Reply

Girl! 6 months is a long time to be on hold…sorry for that.
To answer your question, I wear make up in some sort of fashion, when I leave the house. Church and work are full on…running errands… I do your 5 minute routine.
I would love for you to do a video on your Roden & Fields daily skincare routine.
How do you use all the products and in what order?
Thank you for helping us gurls. 😀

  12. Patricia Daugherty Reply

I look forward to your email every day. I had not heard of Plunder until I started reading your blog. I ordered and have just received 10 pieces. The Alicia necklace and Nola earrings were two of the ten. Just thrilled with everything! 🌻

Tania, I just got off jury duty in my county (not federal though). It was a 2 week stint and I’m exhausted. The trip for me was an hour one way and traffic was a nightmare! I only got $12.5 a day and parking was $8 a day so I brought my lunch. LOL!

I usually don’t wear makeup these days. I stopped wearing it all the time a couple years ago. Now it’s just for work and church and occasions. I just lost interest in spending that much time. I do use skincare and I think that’s very important.

  14. Love today’s outfit! I love pairing bright pink with stripes! I feel really bad that you have to put your life on hold for 6 months! That’s crazy….I don’t know if I could do that, but I guess given that order you would have to accept it! Ugh!!!! As far as the makeup, yes …everyday! Wouldn’t think of never going without it..lol…hubby tells me all the time, I wouldn’t go to the mailbox without it…lol…. Speaking of, still waiting for the sample…lol….hopefully it will come real soon….#snailmail 😳

  15. Dana Buckingham Reply

Yeah, I’m one who wears makeup every day too – even if I don’t have anywhere to go (except the mailbox – ha!). I feel better with it on. The only time I have gone out of the house without it was when I was having surgery and was told “No makeup”.

  16. I did watch your post yesterday and it was great. Thank you. And for the record, I think you need to post images of appropriate jury duty attire! It is important that we all do our part to serve. I extend sympathy to you (if picked) for the extensive driving; that is a hardship. But I think you have a servant’s heart–look what good care you take of all of us! Speaking for myself, I would be a hot mess without some guidance.

  17. You look adorable, Tania. And I feel for you about that jury duty. That is utterly ridiculous! And, yes, I wear makeup in public at all times. Years ago I skipped wearing it, here and there, and someone never failed to ask me if I was sick. So, I’d rather look vibrant. LOL PS: Glad your grandson is on the mend.

  18. Starting at about 16 till I retired at 60 I wore makeup everyday. It took sometime but now at 72 I only put makeup on if I leave the house or if I have someone coming over. Always put on some lipstick though.

  19. I wear makeup everyday, but wear only eye make up on the weeeknds. I’ve been using R&F for just over a year now and I no longer have to wear foundation. I used to have a ruddy/reddish complexion, but thanks to R&F I said bub-bye to that!

  20. Love the striped dress with the pink sweater and shoes. I love pink, so that would be my choice to go with the dress always. As for jury duty, being on call is a small sacrifice to live in a country where you have the freedom to succeed as you have done. Have a blessed day!

  21. I love the look so much that I purchased the Alicia necklace – my first purchase of Plunder. I can’t wait to receive it!! A girl can never have to many pearls. You look great in this outfit Tania.

  22. I love wearing dresses too! They are so easy! This whole outfit is adorable and definitely my style!
