50 IS NOT OLD | EMPOWERED WOMEN EMPOWER WOMEN | FASHION OVER 40Well, well, well. I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday so far. I don’t have any plans for today even though Joe and I talked about going to Baltimore for the weekend. He fell in love with that area about 15 years ago and was talking about it the other night. We bought a boat that was docked in the Inner Harbor at Fells Point, at least that is where I think it was. We never took it out and never really did anything with it, but we would occasionally go there and sit on it. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | EMPOWERED WOMEN EMPOWER WOMEN | FASHION OVER 40 Those plans must have gotten ditched because he hasn’t mentioned it since Thursday night. I also have had some plans get ditched although it was nothing that I did. Remember the lady that I trained to take over my job at the lumber company so that I could retire? She QUIT! Today is her last day on the job. Did you all gasp like I did when I found out? So, come Monday, guess who will be going back to work and starting the training process all over again? This time we are going to be doing a detailed, step-by-step, journal of every process that we do. I want anyone who takes this job to know “how” and “when” to do all of the things that I used to do. You never know when that will come in handy. So, today, I am just going to sit back and enjoy the day. 50 IS NOT OLD | EMPOWERED WOMEN EMPOWER WOMEN | FASHION OVER 40Empowered Women Empower Women!!! I want to thank my Energizer Bunny Friend for giving me this wonderful t-shirt. I love it!!! I love the slinky material, I love the deep v-neck, but what I love most is the message. Women who can, should empower other women. There is never a reason to tear another person down and there is always a reason to build someone up. If I am going to wear a message across my chest then I want it to be one that I can stand behind. All at once I heard Helen Reddy in my head singing, I am woman!50 IS NOT OLD | EMPOWERED WOMEN EMPOWER WOMEN | FASHION OVER 40 Finally!!! I have some of the new fall plunder items and I am so thrilled with everything so far. I know that I did a horrible job showing you the Charma earrings but you can trust me, these are super cute. They are tortoiseshell oval hoops and they are 1.5″ big. There is a matching necklace that I am ordering next called the Maren. Tortoiseshell is one of my favorite prints and I have a lot of jewelry with that print on it. The leopard print cuff bracelet is called the Rochelle. This is really nice and it is a hinged cuff so it is super easy to get on. This is not a flat print on the bracelet, it is hair so it looks really expensive. I have been celebrating my 3 year blog anniversary by offering a free piece of jewelry with every 50.00 purchase (excluding taxes and shipping) for this entire month! Go here and have fun shopping! Make sure that you pick a party with my name in it so that I can track the purchases.50 IS NOT OLD | EMPOWERED WOMEN EMPOWER WOMEN | FASHION OVER 40 My little ballet slippers are very old. I have had these at least 3 or more years and for me, that is a long time. These are by Isaac Mizrahi and they are really comfortable. I wore these when I was on my way to New Orleans in the airport. I can walk in them for long periods of time and they were easy to slip on and off to go through security. You can become fashionable simply by wearing a leopard print shoe. People will look at you in a whole different way when you put these babies on. Lol!

50 IS NOT OLD | EMPOWERED WOMEN EMPOWER WOMEN | FASHION OVER 40You would be surprised at how many women I saw in New Orleans wearing fringed hem jeans. This must be a huge trend right now because they were everywhere. I love this pair that I bought by Reba back a couple of months ago. These are more affordable than most other fringed jeans that I have seen. I am wearing my normal size which is a 10. This was my first purchase by this brand but I don’t think that it will be my last. Here are a couple of other things that I have my eye on. I am really considering the black fringe jeans. What do you think?

50 IS NOT OLD | EMPOWERED WOMEN EMPOWER WOMEN | FASHION OVER 40Whenever I get a phone call from a telemarketer I will say “no, thank you” and then hang up. How many of you are saying no, thank you every day? How many of you can think of something that you wish you had said yes to but you turned down the opportunity? I have heard Joe tell about some man who had the opportunity to be a part owner of this company but he turned it down. The company went on to become HUGE and the poor man talks about the missed opportunity now all the time. It is like his “glory days” that he missed out on. Today’s question is hard.  Comment below what you have said no to that you wish you had a “do-over.” The Vince Camuto handbag will be given away on Monday.

  •  gorgeous skin – no, thank you!

  1. Oh no! Poor you having to return to work on Monday. At least there is someone already appointed for you to train. It will be nice also to spend some time with old friends and workmates.

Here in the UK I dont know of anywhere that sends out jewellery like your ‘Plunder’ or clothes like you receive every month. It would be wonderful to look forward to getting. You get some fabulous necklaces and I am a sucker for a necklace.

    Have a peaceful weekend. Jill

  2. I remember saying no thank you to a promo at the ULTA store and then realizing the benefits when I saw some customers talking about the great savings and products they bought and got in return so now I really pay attention to the benefits of promo and sales love your blog and Happy Saturday!

  3. Love the outfit. Bummer about having to temporarily “unretire”. Hopefully the next one will last a little longer. Enjoy doing nothing.

  4. Wow she didn’t last long in your job. I know th feeling of training again. Sometimes when people are hired they don’t really think about all the job entails. You are smart tojournal nstructions. I am trying to think of a missed opportunity and I think it would be more education. When I became a wife and mother I wasn’t thinking career wise in the future. Love the shoes. Have a restful day.

  5. I too have a good friend, I call her my wise friend, who sent me that phrase about empowering women, in an email! I’m sure I’ve said no to small trips and little things that come and go, but a big missed opportunity, well, I can’t think of any. I said not to a principal position at the school where I teach…but don’t regret it! Love classroom too much!

    Good luck next week!

  6. Just be very clear that you are returning to retrain….Not Returning To Work!!!! Yikes those wonderful husbands have a way of sucking us back in!!! I regret not taking a job that I was offered when I graduated college. It was out of state and I didn’t want to leave my family. I wish I had been more adventurous! Best…Kathy

  7. Great shirt! It would also be a great shirt for Sororities to wear during Rush. I remember saying no to travel if it wasn’t going to the beach. But that was in my younger years and now I want to just travel-just about anywhere will do.

Well, you are just too hard to replace !! Hopefully the new replacement will be there much longer.

  9. I really can’t think of a missed opportunity that I regret. Though my husband might disagree. He’s the risk taker and I’m more on the conservative side, I have to weigh all the options. He likes to say he’s the dreamer and I’m the dream crusher 😉

Love your outfit today! I’m really loving the Plunder tortise shell too! I just received Maren ❤️❤️!! I love simple classic looks on weekends!

So sorry to hear about retraining someone for your job. Sometimes or most of the time, thats a blessing in disguise.

I’ve said no to many things, either personally or professionally, but one thing that stands out is taking a teaching job in another state. I’d be in a different place now, but Ive realized things happen for a reason and I’m happy with my decision.

    Have a blessed day 🙏😘

    • Sorry you have to go back to work – hopefully it won’t take long to find a replacement that will last.
Love the outfit. I love the fringe on jeans but Can’t quite see them on me. I love the jewelry and just ordered the 3 pieces 😃. Now I’m looking at the Reba line at Dillard’s 🤑

  11. Oh, saying no to new friendships would be mine! Some days we are so busy, so tired, and maybe just a bit selfish and adding one more thing to our day is just that… one more thing. I have missed out because I didn’t want to do that one more thing and put myself out there. As great as they are, friendships are work. But, I have learned that without our friendships, who do we share our thoughts on makeup, skincare, food, travel and life experiences with? I WILL put forth the effort to make amazing new friends! Best of luck training the 2nd replacement on Monday, you just may find a new friend…

Your positive attitude is empowering! I would say there are 2 things I regret saying no to. A Timeshare opportunity and going back to work after disability. I am a nurse and had some long term injuries and health issues. I feel now that maybe I should have pushed myself. But I wouldn’t be able to do the job I so loved. Maybe a different career path? I miss nursing so much! I do a lot of sewing and papercrafting. To keep myself busy I sew and craft items for hospitals and donate. It fills that void just a little. Enjoy your weekend .

  13. Love your outfit, especially the shirt. I couldn’t quite see myself in fringed hem jeans so ended up with a pair of “raw hem” instead! I have had many missed opportunities over the years, but finally decided that everything happens for a reason and life is too short to spend on regrets. Sorry to hear that your retirement was so short, but you are great at multitasking so it’ll be a breeze for you!

    • I was offered a college scholarship many years ago and turned it down to get married. I don’t regret getting married, but I sure do regret not getting my college degree.

  14. Sandy Smith Reply

My regret is saying no to getting a higher degree at a university in another state. I did finally get that degree 20 years later, tho.

  15. I never further my formal education but then again my life experiences really gave me an education that I couldn’t buy!!

  16. Charlcy L. Green Reply

I read all your comments this morning and it made me giggle…everyone loves you and admires you just like I do! I love graffic tees w important messages and you have so done that msg! Cute jewelry too! My missed opportunity was being asked to marry a very good, kind, handsome, funny Christian man 20 yrs. ago that I didn’t. Enjoy your relaxing Sat. before ” going back to work”! Ugh!

  17. I really liked your blog when you just told stories and shared your fashion tips. I’m not into all that you’re putting out.

  18. It surely didn’t take them long to find another person to fill your old job. Do you think the previous lady didn’t feel well trained enough? Whoever takes that position is bound to feel the pressure of filling your shoes. I hope this one will be “the one.”

  19. It is really hard to find employees that are dedicated to their jobs anymore. The old saying that when the going gets tough, the tough get going just doesn’t seem to apply anymore. I regret turning down the opportunity to further my education back in the day.

  20. Kristi Tandy Reply

I love your entire look, and I agree that leopard print dresses up any outfit. (I regret not completing my college education.) I hope your return to work is swift and successful. Enjoy the remainder of your weekend!

  21. I said no to college. My father died when I was 14 and when it came time for college I just couldn’t leave my mom alone. I regret the lack of education but never the relationship I nurtured with my mom. Of course, God worked all things for my good!

  22. Love your shoes!! I have a similar pair I bought last year!! It’s a shame your replacement didn’t work out. Perhaps she bit off more than she could chew? Everything happens for a reason and someone will fill your shoes in no time!!
I didn’t go to college, I got married and we traveled across country instead!! No regrets there, besides I have 40 years of life experience and that is fine with me!! 😊😊
