50 IS NOT OLD | EVERYONE NEEDS SHAPE ENHANCING JEANS | FASHION OVER 40I am in a getting better at everything I am doing mode. So many of us get in a routine that we never want to learn new things. Learning new things takes time and effort and what we are already doing is working perfectly well. The truth is that for most of us our age, we are just afraid that we can’t learn how to do it differently. I am raising my hand here because I HATE the time it takes me to learn something. The learning curve seems to take longer and longer each time. Last week I decided to learn how to use MailChimp. It is an email system that a lot of bloggers use but it is not an easy system to learn. They do not have a support phone number so I was left with YouTube and Google as my trainers. 50 IS NOT OLD | EVERYONE NEEDS SHAPE ENHANCING JEANS | FASHION OVER 40You have to be careful who you listen to on those platforms because you really don’t know if the person knows what they are talking about. Plus, some of the videos and instructions are several years old and the whole process has been changed since then. I survived my first newsletter (not the best but it worked) and that gave me the confidence to try another avenue…….photography. I use a point and shoot camera and I put it on autofocus so that I don’t have to learn anything. I have tried to learn how to take pictures using manual focus but I always give up in the end. The pictures are too bright, too dark, not in focus, etc. I called my sister (don’t I always) to have her walk me through the steps. It was an epic disaster. Lol!!! She doesn’t know my camera so she couldn’t tell me how to change the settings. Plus, I was using a mannequin to focus on. I focused the camera then I would run and move the mannequin and then jump into the picture where it had been standing. It was really hot, I am in jeans and a long sleeve shirt, I am miserable, and the pictures are not turning out like I want. But, I am learning. I am not staying stagnant. I will get better. Don’t settle….ever!!!50 IS NOT OLD | EVERYONE NEEDS SHAPE ENHANCING JEANS | FASHION OVER 40Football season has already started and here in Grundy, the high school’s colors are blue and gold. That is the first thing that I thought of when I saw this top. The next thing that I thought of was hot cute this top was. I like the crossover design of the top and the fact that it has a button to hold it in place at the top. As you can see, the top is lined with a different check pattern which gives some visual interest when you roll up the sleeves. That check pattern down the placket makes this blouse really stand out. I bought this top from a local boutique in town called Trendy Threads. You can call or text them to see if they have this in stock. I know that she will mail for you.

50 IS NOT OLD | EVERYONE NEEDS SHAPE ENHANCING JEANS | FASHION OVER 40I added the Constance necklace to this look because of the blue and gold print in the tassels. I wasn’t sure when I bought this necklace if I would ever wear it but I have found a lot of things to wear it with. I like all of the mixed media in this necklace. You have the gold chain, the wooden bead, the fabric cord, and all of the different tassels. This is not your run-of-the-mill necklace and you will certainly stand out wearing this. I think this will look adorable with just a plain navy tee shirt or sweater. The Sydney earrings have blue fringe and hammered gold. They are a 3″ drop and they are a nice statement pair. I am not sure ladies my age have gotten on board the whole fringe trend, but I really like the trend. The Tasha bracelet is navy beads and a golden tassel on an elastic cord. This just slips on easily and looks super cute with this top. Did you know that this month is my 3 year Blog anniversary? I can’t believe that it has been that long! I am celebrating by offering a free piece of jewelry with every 50.00 purchase (excluding taxes and shipping) made this entire month! Go here and have fun shopping!50 IS NOT OLD | EVERYONE NEEDS SHAPE ENHANCING JEANS | FASHION OVER 40 I thought I would show you what Joe calls my best “asset.” Lol! Just kidding, he never says that, but he should. Hahaha! I love this pair of jeans that I got c/o Cato Fashions. These are shape enhancing bootcut jeans and they are only 24.99! What a fabulous price!!! I like the semi-faded look, not too light and not too dark. I tend to wear more bootcut jeans in the fall especially with boots. (imagine that) I have noticed more and more bootcut jeans in the stores. All of those features are nice but I heard tummy flattening and I quit listening after that. Lol! That was all that I needed to hear. These are my normal size but I think that I could have worn a smaller size. I am not sure if they run big or if it is because that I have lost some weight.50 IS NOT OLD | EVERYONE NEEDS SHAPE ENHANCING JEANS | FASHION OVER 40 I added the deep mustard Earth shoes to the look. I have had this pair for about 8 months but I really have never worn them very much. I just couldn’t find anything that I wanted to wear them with. I do like the way they look with this outfit and they are pretty comfortable. I have only heard good things about this brand. I bought mine from QVC but it looks like they are almost sold out of all the different colors and sizes.50 IS NOT OLD | EVERYONE NEEDS SHAPE ENHANCING JEANS | FASHION OVER 40The discounts for my Blog Anniversary extends to my Rodan + Fields products also. I gave out the details in yesterday’s post about the Buy More and Get More From Me sales that are going on. But, I have an extra special for NEW Preferred Customers. I want everyone to at least “try” Rodan + Fields but some people balk at paying the one-time enrollment fee of 19.95. This month, because of my anniversary, I will reimburse the 19.95 back to all NEW PC’s. This is not something that I normally do so be sure to take advantage of this while you can. Go HERE to my website, shop for the products you want, go to checkout, click on the enroll as a Preferred Customer, and then hit continue. As Emersyn says, “Easy Peasy” but if you do run into problems just let me know. Remember, you have a 60-day money back guarantee so what have you got to lose? Oh, yeah……….age spots, lines, wrinkles, acne, etc. Lol!!!

It is hard to believe but my first Weekly Newsletter went out with only a small problem. I hope to get better with every version. I would love for you to subscribe to this, all you have to do is click HERE!

  10. I found Mailchimp challenging to learn too, but they do have a very good chatroom for help. If you want to email me at salgodwin@cox.net I can walk you through how to access it. I”m from Roanoke, so we may speak the same language! My blog is salliegodwin.com. I love your blog – it inspires me!

Great tip on Cato! Will check them out. Also – you might consider using a Virtual Assistant for things like MailChimp so you can concentrate on growing your business/blog and let them do what they do best 🙂

    • Tania Reply

Kate, I have actually been looking into that just this week. I have a couple of things that I need to be done. I need a media kit, help with SEO, Instagram, Mailchimp, etc. When I get back from Convention next week I think that this will be a priority.

  14. Hi! So many of us were wondering where you bought yesterday’s jeans, or what brand they are? The embroidered ones. Love the Cato ones today, too. Thanks!

    • Tania Reply

Holly, they were by Cato’s also. They were a pair that I bought earlier in the year.

  15. This is the perfect casual outfit and I love it !!! I went to subscribe to the newsletter but does that mean I wouldn’t get these daily emails then? It would only let me check one so I didn’t know what I needed to do to get the newsletter and these daily posts Thanks for your help.

    • Tania Reply

Sandy, the daily blog posts are coming from a different service so you will continue to get those. The weekly newsletter is just an additional one that will go out one time a week on Saturday.

  16. Another winning outfit! I’ve never seen anything like this top. For a small town you sure find some terrific pieces!

Hope you have this R&F promotion again somewhere down the line. You are definitely a “go getter”. Hope you achieve your goal

  18. What a great shirt and how clever of them putting a stud fastening at the top of the crossover. This looks like one I would be able to wear as without the stud they just gape open. The colours are I nice autumn transition also still carrying a summer feel. 10 out of 10 for the whole outfit lol. Have a nice day. Off to a French market later x

  19. I signed up for your weekly newsletter but haven’t received it. Please help, thank you, I don’t want to miss a thing!!!

  20. Love your outfit. I took up photography two years ago and absolutely love it. Perfect hobby for this empty nester.
Shoot your photos in open shade. Not spotted or speckled shade where there is patches of light. Or have your husband or family member hold a large reflector. It will make a world of difference. Cloudy and overcast lighting is also great.😊
