50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE THE SAME BLOUSE AND NOT LOOK THE SAME | FASHION OVER 40Joe and I had a fabulous time on our “date night” away this past weekend. We are the worst for “talking” about doing something but never actually doing it. We went to the Biltmore in Asheville, NC for my 50th birthday and loved the place. We planned to go back again, especially to go and watch the drum circle. I am now 58 years old and we have never been back. As I said, we are talkers but not doer’s. I think that in the old west it might have been something like, “big hat, no cattle.” Lol!!!50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE THE SAME BLOUSE AND NOT LOOK THE SAME | FASHION OVER 40 But, I think that this time it might be different. Joe fell in love with the Carnegie Hotel and I can certainly understand why. It is gorgeous and stately. Lots and lots of dark stained wood that reminds you of what a library or study would look like in a castle, not that I have ever seen any in person. I meant to take pictures while we were there but there was a wedding going on and children were EVERYWHERE. They were running and playing tag, let’s just say that I am going to have to go back at another time. Lol! The food was amazing in the restaurant andJoe just went on and on about the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese melted on top and the shrimp and grits with lots of cream. He also said that we would be starting a diet today. Hahaha!50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE THE SAME BLOUSE AND NOT LOOK THE SAME | FASHION OVER 40 This was a rare moment when the kids had just ran down the hallway. I told Joe to quickly let me take a picture before they came back. Notice the Buffalo watching him in the background. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE THE SAME BLOUSE AND NOT LOOK THE SAME | FASHION OVER 40 Today, I am starting a small series where I am going to be styling this top in different ways. I asked you in an earlier post if this would be something of interest to you and I got a positive feedback on the idea. I decided on this top that I bought last year in Alaska when I was visiting my daughter. It is a nice print but nothing crazy so I thought that most of you could find something in your closet similar. This top is by Bobeau and it has a deep v-neck and is sleeveless. I love a v-neck because it is a flattering look since it elongates your neck. I like a sleeveless top because they are so versatile. You can wear them alone, with a jacket or a cardigan, or you can wear them with something underneath it. It is harder with a top like this to wear something underneath, but it is possible. Don’t issue a challenge. Lol! Here are several tops in the exact same style but with different patterns.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE THE SAME BLOUSE AND NOT LOOK THE SAME | FASHION OVER 40The Bobeau top has a pale peach background so I went with the Cassie earrings the have peach fringe on a gold hoop. These are not as large as some of the statement earrings since they are only 2.5″ but the fringe is a hot trend right now. Fringe is not going away anything soon and it is also expanding into the clothing and handbag arena quite heavily. The Constance necklace is a combination of colored fabrics on a gold chain. It is a peach/pink combination but the navy in the tassel is why I chose to wear it. I don’t have it on right now, but I just got the Frankie bracelet in. That bracelet has sold out twice before I could grab it so I encourage you to go and have a look at it if you like animal print. I am sure it will sell out again soon.  I love my Plunder jewelry because it is affordable and I can get all the latest trends without spending a fortune. Go to www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens to make a purchase and please pick a party with my name in it.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE THE SAME BLOUSE AND NOT LOOK THE SAME | FASHION OVER 40 The color of these pants is extremely pale peach. This is a pair of linen pants that I bought last year at Cato Fashions when they went on sale. I laughed when I saw the 3.99 tag on them. I do love my bargains. Lol! Peach is not one of my favorite colors so I really wasn’t sure that I would wear these very much but at that price who cares. I wore these the other day (here) and someone commented that they looked too old for people our age. What? I just thought they looked like regular old pants. Lol! Since I have already worn these twice, I feel like I have already gotten my monies worth. Lol!!!

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE THE SAME BLOUSE AND NOT LOOK THE SAME | FASHION OVER 40I added a navy mesh cardigan that I have had since last fall. It isn’t a lot of coverage so it is still easy to wear in the summer months. It just has enough coverage to hide your arms for those who are self-conscious about them. I just liked that it all tied in with the navy theme that I was wanting to pull out in the print of the top. When you look at the picture you will notice that the blue in the top now jumps out at you. When I style this top tomorrow that might not be the case.

  1. Love the whole outfit, especially the cardi. It really pulls out the blue in the top and makes your eyes show up too.

I thought the blue really brought everything out also, Angie. Now it makes me worry about the way I styled the top tomorrow. Hahaha!

Susanne, you and I seem to think alike a lot of the time. Lol!

  2. I like the series idea. I would like to see you do a series on pants too. Linen pants in the summer look stylish not old lol.

  3. The outfit is really nice and what a great find on those pants. The blue cardigan really brings out your eye color!! I love linen! I always laugh when I’m ironing it as I know the minute I move it wrinkles!! 😂😂

Carol, I love linen too and I have learned to embrace its wrinkles. Lol! I refuse to have wrinkles on my face but I can tolerate them in linen. Lol!

  4. Love this outfit and thanks for the options where to look for a navy cardi as I don’t have one but would like to get one. The pair of linen pants that I purchased from Dressbarn still have the tags on as they have bigger legs and I can’t decide if I like that look on me or not. I’m glad you kept these peach colored ones as they look so nice and for that price, you did have to get them!

I enjoy all your “series” posts. I have those earrings too, but haven’t worn them yet. Love the way the fringe dances against my neck.

  6. I looked back at your previous post wearing these pants. Then I had to look at the comments to see exactly what was said about the pants being too “old”. All I can think, is in the previous post the simple top and pants may not have looked trendy, therefore that reader thought it would make you look older. I like the way you styled them this time the best but the other post was ok, too. 😊

WOW, you should wear that blue all the time. Your eyes look absolutely gorgeous!

  8. Just back from a day out wearing linen. It has kept me really cool while we have been sightseeing in 33 degrees. More of that in my blog later. Love you in this top and love the blue of the cardigan. Nice touch.
