50 IS NOT OLD | LITTLE DETAILS CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE | FASHION OVER 40The weather is gorgeous here in North Myrtle Beach! So far we haven’t even experienced the normal hour-long rain shower that usually pops up every day. I always look forward to those little pop-up showers because they gave me an excuse to get to go back in and take an afternoon nap. Lol! 50 IS NOT OLD | LITTLE DETAILS CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE | FASHION OVER 40Traveling with small children takes some adjustment. Emersyn is almost 5 so she is easier to handle than Beckham. He is at the age where is getting mobile and can get into anything. But, he is not at the age yet where he understands the word no. Let’s just say that he now knows what sand tastes like. Lol! Emersyn would take her little bucket and go fill it with water to try and make sand castles. Beckham is fast as fast can be with those little hands. He will be playing and throwing the sand and toys and the next minute it is in his mouth. Yuck!!!
50 IS NOT OLD | LITTLE DETAILS CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE | FASHION OVER 40I think that I must have gotten addicted to the red, white, and blue theme I was wearing for Memorial Day. I can’t seem to stop wearing the colors together. Lol! this top is one of my favorites and I wear it a lot. I bought it last year when I went to San Diego for a Social Media Convention. This top came from a local boutique in Coronado Beach and I don’t know what the brand name is. However, I do like the way the top is made. This top is flowy so it doesn’t cling to the body which is a BIG plus for me. But, it is the little ties on the sleeves that sold me on the top. It doesn’t have to be a huge detail to get attention, sometimes it is the little things that really speak to you.

50 IS NOT OLD | LITTLE DETAILS CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE | FASHION OVER 40My t-strap navy sandals are by Tommy Hilfiger. They are several years old and in bad need of being replaced but I still love them. They are my go-to when I want something easy to slip on and navy goes with almost everything. I don’t have cute toes so just concentrate on the gold accent on the top of the sandal instead. Lol! Although, I will say that my pedicure looks nice. Lol! You CAN’T go to the beach without getting a pedicure first. Hahaha!

50 IS NOT OLD | LITTLE DETAILS CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE | FASHION OVER 40The raw hem trend is still going strong and I don’t see any end in sight for a few years to come. Normally, trends will last for at least 5 years. That is just long enough for everyone to have several pairs in their wardrobe before they change the styles again. How else would they be able to sell us more styles if they kept the same ones forever? Hop on board the trend early and you will get a lot of wear from your purchase. As he BORG says, “resistance is futile.” lol!

50 IS NOT OLD | LITTLE DETAILS CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE | FASHION OVER 40Now you can say that you have been “flashed” by a blogger. Haha! You just never know what you will find when you visit with 50 Is Not Old. On a more somber note, I am sure most of you have heard the Kate Spade was found dead of an apparent suicide yesterday at the age of 55. It is so sad that she leaves behind a young 13-year-old daughter who will have to deal with this all of her life. Money and fame can not make you happy, that is something that comes from within. I am praying for her family in this dark hour.

Be sure to check out my Instagram post later on tonight for a giveaway that I am having with my longtime friend (I’ve known her since birth) Airica Puckett. You will be amazed at this lady’s ability to decorate and her clothes are beautiful. And, just wait until you see her family, they should all be on a magazine cover, and I am sure they will be one day.

I really appreciate all of the shares and the pins of my outfits that you have been doing. PLEASE continue to do that, you won’t believe the difference it has made in my number of visitors to my blog.

  1. Firstly enjoy your holiday with the family. Sounds like you will have your hands full and never a dull moment. You are wearing a lovely casual outfit it looks easy to wear and comfortable for running around with the children. As you I was sad to read about Kate Spade, such a talented lady and leaving behind a husband and child. It shows you may look to have everything on the outside but be very unhappy on the inside. Will be thinking of them today. X

I do love the casual feel of the outfit! It was my traveling, on the road, outfit so I wanted to be comfortable.

  2. You look great, and I love the red, white and blue. Comfy is the word. Your are so stinking adorable. Inside and out! I enjoy seeing you every morning sweetness!

  3. I love the combo of red white and blue, always a winner! Yes, Kate Spade so very tragic, her young daughter, I can’t even. Money and fame. My ailing grandpa, a short time btsbefore he died became reflective, kinda chuckled and said ‘aw don’t EVER give up’.

  4. That’s my kind of outfit. Love tops that flow like that to cover any places you don’t want noticed. Adorable, as previous commenter said. And since I basically only wear my diamond pendant and studs most days this look suits me. I’m pinning it today. Enjoy your vacation. My daughter married last fall and can’t wait until I have grandchildren to play with like you. Side note: you cheer up my mornings with your humor and funny tales.

Kathy, I was wondering who was going to notice that! Lol!! I was running like a chicken with my head cut off trying to load everything in the car. This is what I wore on the drive to Myrtle Beach.

    • I like it…lol…sometimes no jewelery looks better! I can relate to that rushing around before hitting the road….. never ready ! 😜

  5. I forgot to say that those raw hemmed jeans are really growing on me too. I may have to jump in the bandwagon. 😊

Yes, very sad that someone so young would take her life when she has a 13 yr. old daughter depending on her. Poor child.
Cute top & your toes look great, as do your nails! I just got my Plunder order yest. w/the big tassel navy earrings & I can’t wait to wear them! Oh well, a little dirt never hurt any kid! I used to make mud pies & then eat some of them when I was about 3. Ha!
