Oh my goodness, the rain just keeps coming and coming. I have seen several places flooding and I hate seeing that in the news. It is so sad to see people work all of their lives and then it wash away in a few hours. The rain here hasn’t been quite that bad but I came home yesterday to a surprise. The wind had picked up the patio umbrella and thrown it into the pool. 😱
Are you a gardener? I “used” to be flower gardener, not a vegetable gardener. I would plan where I was going to plant the flowers so that they could have blooms throughout the entire garden and they would bloom at different times through the year. I went through hundreds of magazines and I would plan and plan and plan. Then, I would spend all day long with my rear stuck up in the air weeding and mulching and planting. Lol!
The long weekend is over and it is time to get back to work. I ended up working on Monday until about 2:00 and then I came home and did the blog. Our plan was to head over to my Energizer Bunny Friend’s house for some relaxation on the patio. It would have been nice just to sit around and have a few drinks without having to be in a rush to go and do something. The weather didn’t cooperate and I hate that we had to cancel. I admit that Joe and I don’t normally go places anymore. There is usually a trivial reason like I’m tired, I don’t want to have to clean up, or even that I haven’t gotten the next day’s blog post done.
Happy Memorial Day!!! I want to first thank anyone who has served in the armed forces for your service. Service to our country is an amazing call to duty and one that is severely underpaid. For those who have children who have been called to duty, I know you are extremely proud and petrified at the same time, and I commend you for the service that you also provide for our country. And, even if you are like me and don’t have anyone in the services and have never lost anyone in combat, you are still a patriot. A patriot’s definition is one who loves their country and supports its authority and interest. So, whether you are from America or any other country, I hope you are proud of your heritage and those who have died trying to defend its freedoms.
I love listening to books when I drive. When I travel I used to listen to talk radio because it was like having someone in the car with me. If I listen to music on the radio I tend to get sleepy and tired but hearing a voice while I am driving will keep me alert. The problem with talk radio was that I wasn’t always interested in the subject that the radio host was talking about. Then I discovered the app, Audible. Audible is an app that allows you to “listen” to books. So, if I am walking on the treadmill or driving down the road I now have the option of listening to a book that I am interested in.
Friday was gorgeous here in Tennessee but I am not sure how nice the rest of the weekend will be. Even if the weather cooperates I am not sure if the sickness bug is going to be kind. I am feeling better but poor little Matti has come down with a stomach virus. She spent the night with me on Thursday and before we went to bed she said that she had a headache. Her hair was pulled back in a tight bun since she had been at a dress rehearsal for her ballet recital and we assumed that was probably the issue. We gave her some children’s Tylenol and she and I went to bed.
Hi, ya’ll from Tennessee! I made it to my mom’s and I brought me sore throat with me. Ugh! I am amazed at how medicine works. I took 2 pills Wednesday and I felt better, not great but better, on Thursday. It just blows my mind how 2 pills can make that big a difference. I want to thank everyone who is in the medical profession. You all make such a big difference in people’s lives.
The best-laid plans of mice and men can be changed. Yesterday I was so thrilled to celebrate my Rodanniversary and I have been looking forward to it for months. I want to thank everyone who ordered products and those who also chose to become a business partner with me. I just wish that I felt better. Wouldn’t you know that I would get sick on the one day that I wanted to celebrate? Lol! I ended up going to the doctor and being prescribed medicine for an extremely sore throat. I feel like crap. 😟
I did a Sunday post once that talked about decisions; how every day we make small decisions that can affect our lives in ways that we never expected. Starting the blog was one of those decisions. I had been talking about it and thinking about it for over a year and one weekend, out of the clear blue, I sat down and started the process. I had no idea that my life would change from that one small decision. I hope that my one decision has also changed YOUR life in some aspect. I have gotten many emails from readers telling me some of the changes that my blog has brought about in their life. That is a humbling thought. My decisions have an impact on others.
I am here to tell you that the life of a blogger is not all fun and games. There are no jets sitting on the tarmac waiting to whisk us away to glamorous destinations every week. Clothing brands are not throwing free clothing and purses at us every time we turn around. You get TONS of emails and messages from men that you have no idea who they are. And, there are times when you just don’t feel like taking a picture or writing a post. But, today was the worst when it comes to blogging, I was terrified.
