50 IS NOT OLD | DRESS FOR A DINNER DATE | FASHION OVER 40I had to laugh at a comment left yesterday by Nancy. She said that she and I sure vacation differently because she would never dress up while on vacation. Lol! That struck me as funny because she just doesn’t realize that I haven’t taken any pictures of me in my bathing suit and coverup. That is what I am wearing most of the time. Lol! However, I do love to dress up if we go out to dinner or go shopping. 50 IS NOT OLD | DRESS FOR A DINNER DATE | FASHION OVER 40I actually bought this dress last year at Cato’s but I never wore it. I took the tags off of it when I put it on to go out to dinner. I love white although it would look better on me when I have a tan but that doesn’t stop me from wearing it. Someone commented yesterday also about not wanting to wear a dress because of having white and pasty legs. I understand completely how you feel. That is why I use a sunless tanner until I acquire a little bit of tan. She also mentioned that pantyhose have gone out of style. Yes, they have but guess what? Kate Middleton (you know, Prince William’s wife) has been spotted wearing pantyhose which is giving them a comeback. However, these are not the pantyhose of old, they are very sheer.50 IS NOT OLD | DRESS FOR A DINNER DATE | FASHION OVER 40I miss my tripod for taking pictures. Lol! Poor Joe is trying but he is lacking some skills. Haha! He either cuts off my feet or my head or the pictures are not sharp and clear. He is so proud of his new Galaxy phone that I haven’t had the heart to break it to him that he needs a little practice in taking pictures. Lol!! Anyway, you can see the grommet lace-up detail that goes up both sides of this dress. This dress also has the cute key-hole neckline for another unique detail.

50 IS NOT OLD | DRESS FOR A DINNER DATE | FASHION OVER 40I added a small clutch purse that I have had for a long time. I am not even sure of the brand but it is a snakeskin design. I picked that because it was neutral and would go with almost anything. When I am going out to dinner I don’t feel like I need to take my big purse with EVERYTHING loaded in it. I normally just slip my phone that has a credit card slot case on it, a lip balm, and a few other items like an ink pen and keys to the car into the purse.Because I am not carrying a lot of items I can carry a small clutch.

50 IS NOT OLD | DRESS FOR A DINNER DATE | FASHION OVER 40We did enjoy a toast after dinner. This has really been a nice getaway but it will all come to an end tomorrow. Joe laughed today and told me that he could get used to living like this. Lol! Such a hardship on him!!!

I do want to thank all of my customers who trusted me when I told them about the wonderful products that Rodan + Fields have to offer. When I started sharing my love of the products I had no idea that a trip like this was even available much less possible for someone like me to earn. Most incentives and rewards with R+F are based on “team” participation but this trip was based solely off of my efforts. R+F tires to reward the individual, the team, the existing customers, and the new customers. They have had 2 incentive-based rewards for new Preferred Customers and yesterday they announced the 2nd incentive that is for existing customers only. I LOVE that. I always hated seeing the TV and phone companies only giving rewards to new customers who sign on. R+F believes in taking care of their loyal customers.

Beginning Thursday through April 30, every US and Canadian Customer who places an order of a select Regimen (Reverse, Redefine, Soothe, UnBlemish) or AMP It Up Special as part of our limited-time Body Glow Gift special will receive a complimentary ESSENTIALS Foaming Sunless Tan and Daily Body Moisturizer! A $52 retail value, this gift with purchase is a fantastic way to achieve beautiful, healthy-looking skin from head to toe. Go to www.tstephens5.myrandf.com to go shopping.

  1. Your break is definitely over too soon. Love this dress with the side detailing you are onto a winner with this dress. The purse is also a eye catcher. Once again you look fabulous.

I am always on the lookout for a detail that takes the item up a notch or two.

  2. Hi Tania,
    Looking lovely as always!
I know what you mean…every time one of the royal ladies wear something it sells out in record time! 🙂
Still waiting to find out our new prince’s name…👶 👑

  3. I have to agree with Nancy about differing vacation styles. I would never even think to pack pumps for a beach vacation. I would have been in sandals with that dress and probably all the others. I guess I need to bump it up a notch. I have really enjoyed all of the dresses. Everyone so pretty on you.

Debbie, when we were having events on the beach I did wear a pair of Tory Burch flip flops. Lol!

I know you are going to love all of your products. If you think that my photographer is doing great then you have low expectations. Hahahahaha! I hope he doesn’t read that comment. Lol!

  4. I love the white dress. You look gorgeous in it! And I still wear a pantyhose when the outfit and occasion ask for it.

  5. I have really fallen in love with Cato. I went there because of your mentioning them. It is my new favorite store!

My hubby and I went to Hawaii a couple years ago and it was all I could do to come back. I understand Joe’s comment

I don’t enjoy panty hose but they do have a time and place. Putting them on is like stuffing a sausage, but once they’re on I do feel like I like ok more put together

Shari, Cato is not high-end but they have decent clothing that looks very nice. If I am not wanting to keep something forever then this works for me. I get tired of clothing very quickly so I don’t want to feel like I have to keep it because of the price.

  6. If I had to, I would pack dresses or long skirts for vacation but I try and get by with as few shoes as possible as they take up a lot of room and I don’t even own heels anymore…wedges yes, but not heels. For me it would also be sandals like someone else said but I guess you are on a “business” vacation so everybody there is probably dressed up for the evening events. You mentioned swimsuits; I have been looking at them as I need a new one so bad but just can’t decide what to get. A post on swimsuits would be helpful for those of us that are 60 as I feel like I need a little more coverup but yet don’t want to look frumpy.

I didn’t bring a lot of shoes with me either, Sandy. They are heavy and like you said, they take up a lot of room. I normally take one pair of heels, a pair of flip-flops, and a pair of casual shoes. This time I brought 2 pairs of heels but that is the only difference.

  7. Hi Tania! Glad you had a nice trip! Congratulations on your success! Had to comment: I was in Spain this spring and pantyhose are DEFINITELY a thing. It was so strange because no one wears them here anymore but I saw so many girls wearing them there! I didn’t really notice “mature” women in them because it was cool out so most legs were covered up but the girls who were baring their legs all had sheer hose on! (Like, while wearing shorts!)

Yes, Jo, everything has to be very very sheer and that includes any colored pantyhose. It will be hard to get used to wearing them again.

  8. Loving your vacation pix! I especially love that rattan bag w/charms that you got from r&f. Btw, count me as one of the girls who doesn’t dress up on a beach vacay. Although I wear mostly longer sun dresses, due to the island breezes, sandals, and a straw hat. Safe travels home to you & Joe…..

I LOVE that beach bag also. All of the colored charms are too cute and the one is a bright keychain that says RF. I have always taken a nice long maxi or sundress with me on vacation for when we go out to dinner. I just love dressing up. Lol!

  9. You look so lovely in all your dresses. I had to wear a dress yesterday to court(for a happy reason) and I did wear sheer pantyhose. I’m 53 and it’s hard for me not to wear hose. I gave my outfit a polished look.

Bonnie, it was hard for me to quit wearing them and it will be hard to start wearing them again. The old ones that I used to wear had a “sheen” to them and that is a no-no. The new versions need to look very sheer and really not be seen. I am glad that you had a happy reason to be in court.

  10. I am careful when I take shoes on vacation. Several years ago we had to pay $50 extra for the weight of our bags because of all the shoes I packed. My hubby was not real pleased. But we did have a great vacation in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

  11. Like the details on the dress and you look so nice in it! Would love to look like you with no muffin top here, bulges there!
I even sometimes where pantyhose that have the toes basically cut out to wear with open shoes….just feel like they finish the outfit!

  12. I like this dress too. And the shoes. I can’t wear heels any more unless they’re about one inch tall. Ha! And I am also of the pantyhose era. I still think that a woman’s legs look better with them and she just looks more finished. I did hear too that very sheer or black pantyhose are in fashion now.

  13. Hi Tania,
I love to dress up when we go to dinner while on vacation.
Off to Kure Beach end of June.
    You look fabulous!

  14. Hi Tania! I’m glad you have been having such a wonderful time on your trip. How wonderful for you and your husband! I think it’s great that you mostly packed dresses. You’re right; that’s pretty smart really. And you’ve chosen beautifully.

  15. So pretty, with the embellishments on the side! Fresh, simplistic, elegant…it has it all.

  16. Packing for vacation is a skill! Lol I always pack at least one dressy outfit for me and the hubby! As far as the pantyhose….most women just don’t have legs/feet to go bare for a dressy occasion! IMO
