50 IS NOT OLD | SUNSHINE ON A CLOUDY DAY | FASHION OVER 40When I get home from working at the lumber company I am usually dragging my tail. It was really bad yesterday when I got home so I heated up a cup of coffee that was still in the coffee pot from this morning. I am not really sure why I even bothered because normally coffee doesn’t really wake me up anyway. I finally got woke up enough to start on the blog and then when Joe came in he got to telling stories, etc. and that woke me up. I didn’t think anything else about the coffee until I went to go to sleep. Bad move, very bad move. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | SUNSHINE ON A CLOUDY DAY | FASHION OVER 40I think Joe must have fallen asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow but my eyes popped open and refused to shut. I kept wondering why was I having a hard time going to sleep since I didn’t have anything bothering me or on my mind. Then I remembered the coffee! I tossed and turned and decided never again to drink coffee when I come home from work. Then, I came home today and I am so sleepy that I can hardly keep my eyes open. Lol! I know it is because I didn’t sleep well last night and if I can just tough it out then I will be fine. Someone just needs to tell my eyes that because they are not paying me any attention. Wake me up in about 15 minutes. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.50 IS NOT OLD | SUNSHINE ON A CLOUDY DAY | FASHION OVER 40Don’t let these bright eyes fool you, they are seriously tired. Lol! I am sure that a huge part of you are already saying that you can’t wear orange. It isn’t one of my favorite colors either but I like to have a few pieces of clothing in almost every color. The orange was not something that I had planned on wearing today and in fact, it was an afterthought. I grabbed this BRIGHT orange cardigan just to keep me warm and I wanted to keep in the “theme” of my color palette today. I do like the style of this cardigan which has a deep V neckline and 3/4 sleeves. This style is probably my favorite and the one I will choose if I have a choice. This is an older cardigan that I bought at Old Navy several years ago. I love finding their cardigans on sale and then buying several different colors.

50 IS NOT OLD | SUNSHINE ON A CLOUDY DAY | FASHION OVER 40The entire outfit was all planned around this Paisley scarf. I saw this the other day when I was shopping at Cato Fashions and grabbed it in the white color. It also came in Navy but I decided that I wanted the bright white just to herald in Spring. You just have to think about spring when you see this outfit. Some of you may think Spring but still be dressing for winter. It is coming, I promise!!! I knew a groundhog wasn’t a good predictor of the weather. Lol!

50 IS NOT OLD | SUNSHINE ON A CLOUDY DAY | FASHION OVER 40I am wearing the dark blue Diana jeans from Kut from the Kloth. I know that I wear this pair a lot but they fit so good and are so comfortable. I probably should try another style from them to see if I like that one just as well so I’ll have to think about that. The darker the jean the dressier it appears. So, if you wear the lighter colored jeans it will look more casual and the darker jean will appear dressier even if you wear the same top. Huh! I may have to try that one day and put it on the blog to see if you gurls agree with that statement.

50 IS NOT OLD | SUNSHINE ON A CLOUDY DAY | FASHION OVER 40With this outfit on you will be singing, “I got sunshine, on a rainy day. When it’s cold outside I’ve got the month of May.” You’re welcome for now having “My Girl” stuck in your head. Lol!

I really appreciate all of the shares and the pins of my outfits that you have been doing. PLEASE continue to do that, you won’t believe the difference it has made in my number of visitors to my blog.

  1. Hi Tania,

I love the color combinations – It just pops! Enjoy your day.

Love this outfit. These colors are amazing…Bring in Spring!

  2. Tania, that color combo is really pretty. Love the shade of blue. I wear NYJD jeans, but see a lot of bloggers talking about Kit from the Kloth. How do they compare?

    • Tania Reply

Honestly, I have never tried NYJD jeans. I had a pair shipped to me with my Trunk Club once but they were almost identical to a pair that I already owned and so I shipped them back. So I can’t compare the two brands.

    • I tried a pair of Kut form the Kloth jeans and went back for more. I am tall (5’10”) and have slim hips, (I’m an apple shape or inverted triangle, …whatever they call it these days). The jean’s cut fits me really well without having to alter them, …I quite often have to take in the seam in the hips and thighs. There’s just enough spandex to button over my not slim waist with comfort. The jeans do run large, I had to size down one size.

  3. I love the Temptations! I also really like your outfit! The scarf is beautiful. You sound like your blood sugar is dropping in the afternoon. Have a small healthy snack so you don’t get so tired. Best…Kathy

That sounds like a good idea, Kathy. I need to have a few healthy items at my desk to keep that from happening.

    • Hi. I have a pair of Kut From Kloth jeans I received from StitchFix (I’d never heard of this brand before). I love them. They fit so nicely and don’t sag after wearing all day. Little pricey but good investment in my mind. Try them.

Tania, I’m going to have to put a padlock on my wallet. Since I’ve started following your blog a few months ago, my spending at Old Navy and such has increased 100%. LOL! Seriously though, really enjoy reading your blog. You’re down to earth and I love how you put clothes together that I wouldn’t think to do that way.

    • Tania Reply

Hahaha! Debbie, you are not the first to tell me that! Lol!! Could you send this email to Old Navy! Who knew my clothing obsession would turn into a business one day? You just never know!

      • I share your obsession and see a lot of pieces (old and new) that are identical to my own. With your song reference and acessessory fixation – or attention to detail, I’m guessing we are sisters from different misters as one of my friends tells me. Love your perspective and sweet observations. Keep up the wonderful job. P.S. If you haven’t already, check out Nordstrom Rack in store or online for discounted Kut from the Kloth.

  5. I would never think to buy a scarf and then build my outfit around it…this is cute. I totally agree that darker jeans are dressier and vice versa. If we are going to a dressier but yet casual event, I always pull out my darkest jeans. You might try a 5 or 10 min. walk in the afternoon when you are sleepy or try decaf coffee and see if that makes a difference. I wish I was one of those people that could take a 5 min. nap and then be ready to go again.

Sandy, I have always built outfits around an accessory. They have some of the best color combinations, usually things that I wouldn’t have thought of on my own!

  6. Hi Tania, Love your blog! Would you mind telling me about the fit on the Kut from the Kloth jeans? Are they true to size? What size do you take? Are these skinnies or straight leg? Thank you so much. Blessings, Cindy

I love your outfit! Just an FYI-I just bought three of those sweaters from Old Navy on sale. I have already worn the navy blue one several times. They are good to have this time of year. Warm today-cold tomorrow!!!!

  8. Oh gosh, I just had a terrible night of sleep too but I blame it on menopause. My brain wakes up and just starts chugging through my to-do list. I love orange and blue together and I don’t mind orange but as I write this I realize I only have one sweater in orange. And I also realized that I wear it a ton! Perhaps it’s time to add some more to my wardrobe! Good luck staying bright today!

  9. I’m with, Debbie! I NEVER shopped at Old Navy before starting to read your blog last month. Now they’ve got my money for a yellow dress, navy cardigan, and cute purse–all purchased online thru links from your blog. My husband asked me last night if I’ll be getting packages every day, so I think I’d better stop shopping for now!

  10. I like this color combo too. Orange is a favorite of mine. And the scarf just makes it all come together and it’s such a simple idea. Thanks. I like scarves but always wonder if I’ll really wear them. Gonna have to try a few more to use in this way. Orange looks good on you. I have those days too when about 3-4 pm I’m just beat. A quick snack can help. Have nice day, Tania.

  11. Love this outfit! The scarf just pulls it all together perfectly. I think you can wear any color.

  12. Tania, love your outfit, the cut, colors, proportions, …all come together to look great on you! Well done!

Orange is one of my favorite colors. Love the blue and orange together. Have a good day!

  14. Orange is not usually a go-to for me either. However, I have things in that color family that are orange-ish and I love them! And this song! Believe it or not, I took baton twirling, along with dance, as a child and this was one of my twirling recital songs! Such a Texas thing…or maybe Southern. LOL

  15. Oh I am heading to Cato Fashions this weekend. I cannot wait to see if that scarf is available.

  16. I am not sure how long you have had this blog, but it seems to me that about a year ago, or so, I found your blog. I did not follow it up until now. Love your style. You are so inspiring.

Sherrie, I started the blog in September of 2015!

  17. Why is it I am always so tired when it’s time to get up and wide awake when it’s time to go to bed at night! As with a lot of other things that seem out of whack with me lately, I’m blaming it on hormones and menopause! ARGH! My body is wondering what’s going on and my brain is mush! You look so pretty and bright!! I just love how you can put together so many pretty outfits day after day! I’m in such a rut! I stand and stare into my closet and can’t put together anything with what’s in there lately and if I don’t lose some of these pounds that have snuck up on me, I’ll have to wear sweats or yoga pants everyday! Everything is just too tight! Anyone else feel just so blah right now?! maybe when Spring temps finally stick around I’ll get with it!! Happy Spring Tania, I don’t comment much lately but I’m still following!!

  18. Love the scarf, it really brought the whole outfit together. I hardly ever go in Cato’s, but you’ve inspired me, as you do so well! “My Girl” is mine and my dad’s song 😁
