50 IS NOT OLD | ARE YOU LIVING BOLD | FASHION OVER 40Are you living your life bold? I bet that 80% of you said no, that you are actually living your life in the safe zone. I get it, I have been the worst over the years to not want to try something new. It didn’t matter if it was only trying a new food item I was just stuck in a rut. I tell Emersyn all the time that she doesn’t have to “eat” the item but she does need to at least “try” the item. I will tell her to take a bite and if she doesn’t like it that she can spit it out in the trashcan. She has been very good and open to this concept. But, are you?50 IS NOT OLD | ARE YOU LIVING BOLD | FASHION OVER 40Since so many of you tell me that you “can’t” wear this or that then I assume that means you are unwilling to even try new things. Like spitting out a food you don’t like, you can take off the offending item and you don’t have to actually wear it. I am not sure if it is my age that has made me bolder in my decisions but something has clicked. I have gotten bolder in my fashion. I have gotten bolder in my personal life. I have gotten bolder in taking risks that before would have made me a nervous wreck. The point is that you can be bold also. When I am old then I shall wear purple is a poem that celebrates the individual that is you. Don’t let anyone else hold you back and keep you from reaching your potential. I never knew that I had what it took to become a blogger but I am glad that I tried. I never knew that I could get up in front of people and lead a training but I am glad that I did. I never knew that I would have the courage to start a new business in my 50’s but I am glad that I did. I bet there are a lot of you that have been risk-takers too and I can’t wait to hear from you.
50 IS NOT OLD | ARE YOU LIVING BOLD | FASHION OVER 40I received this 57 Year Bold t-shirt in the mail the other day from Chico’s and I was pleasantly surprised. They had sent me an email earlier in the year asking for my sizes but I had completely forgotten about that. I told them a large because I hate getting something and it being too small. This, however, ended up being way too big for me. I love the shirt though and I wanted to wear it. I have seen younger women wearing shirts that were too big by tying the bottom hem in a knot. What do you think? Can you tell that the shirt is too big? 50 IS NOT OLD | ARE YOU LIVING BOLD | FASHION OVER 40The cheetah print earrings were also from Chico’s back last fall. I received them from a blog reader as a gift and I loved them. The tassel style is cute and fun and I would like to think that is how I am also. Lol! They are no longer available but you know I found some cute things to link to below. The Sawyer bird leather cuff is also really cute. I liked how it had an edgy vibe that seemed to go with the outfit. Plunder will be launching their new jewelry line April 6th. That means that the items that are going to be retiring will no longer be available.

50 IS NOT OLD | ARE YOU LIVING BOLD | FASHION OVER 40The frayed hem jeans are a pair that I got recently from Old Navy.  I really like Old Navy jeans because they fit me well and they are super affordable. I like trying new trends and styles but I don’t want to spend a fortune on them. Trends might only last a year or so and by buying from Old Navy I can feel like I still got my monies worth out of them. I also added a cheetah print wristlet today. This was a new purchase that I made at the overstock store in town. I didn’t even pay any attention until today when I looked inside the wristlet that there was a matching charger inside. I plugged it up to make sure that it had a good charge and then I hooked my dead phone up to it and it worked!!! I got a two-in-one with that purchase. Lol! It is by Aimee Kestenberg and it is on sale for only 26.12!

50 IS NOT OLD | ARE YOU LIVING BOLD | FASHION OVER 40I will be adding one more BOGO 1/2 off deal to my incentives today. There are already two specials still running but the one today has the biggest discount. Be sure to check all of the deals out by going here.

I NEEDED this today!! I have been stuck in a job I hate, ruled by a horrible bully of a boss, but fear of change has kept me stagnant. After the latest beat down this week, I reluctantly accepted a new opportunity with a small start up. I’m scared to death, 48, and taking a pay cut, but something kept telling me this was what I needed to do. I’ve jumped out of an airplane, so why I’m so afraid to take this leap is beyond me. I WILL be bold. That will be my motto every morning as I step out the door on my way to my new job. Thank You!!

YES!!! Jamie, I am so proud of you! This is a huge step and the uncertainty is the problem. I know it is scary but just keep your eyes open to see the opportunity. You have taken off the blinders and that is the first step. Write some notes and put them around the house to remind you that YOU ARE BOLD!

  3. love the tied look, it is cute and a way to wear something with a new look.

  4. Cute! I try not to wear clothes that are to big because I feel they make me look sloppy. The way you knotted this T-shirt looks great. Have a wonderful Saturday.

I just started following you a few weeks ago. Of course I found you on Pinterest! I love your style and think you are a great inspiration to those of us in our 50’s! No, your T-shirt doesn’t look too big, just looks comfy! You look great as always!

Well, this year I stepped out of my comfort zone and ran for public office! County Assessor at that. After I did it I said to myself are you nuts 😝 this requires putting yourself out there in the public eye for all to see! I have to do meet and greets and there is some studying for the position, a 500 page tutorial to be exact!!! I’ve never been good at putting myself out there or public speaking, this position requires some of that too! We will see how it all comes out in November. I pray I get through it without saying something stupid or forgetting what to say! Wish me Luck!!🤪

Jennifer, I saw that you announced this the other day of FaceBook. I actually remember thinking how courageous that was. I truly don’t know if “I” would have the courage. But, you will fail 100% of the time that you don’t try so you have a MUCH better chance than that. Lol!!! Good luck, I am sure that you will do fine.

I read your blog, but noticed you haven’t done a You Tube in a while, is there anyway you could show us your outfits and talk about them each week? maybe capture daily videos and compile them once a week with a voice over telling us all about your clothes and jewerly? You are so talented and creative in pulling together any outfit and adding accessories, Id love to watch it in YouTube!

  8. Tania I just ordered that wristlet. This is a cute weekend look. It has been said that Im bold i say how i feel and I wear what I want. But when it comes to true boldness like taking a leap of faith I have a yellow streak the length of the east coast.

  9. The shirt looks cute! I can’t believe you find time to do this every day. Thanks taking the time and sharing your ideas.

  10. Love the shirt! I too seem to get bolder the older I get. I’m happy being in my 50s. Experience brings confidence and really knowing oneself. Nice post today.

  11. Do you not have a problem with Old Navy jeans stretching out when you wear them? I usually have to wear a belt with them

Love it. It looks great and I love the logo. My family and friends think I am out of my mind sometimes when I do something spur of the moment or not the norm. One of them recently said they wished they were brave enough to do what I have done over the years, but they were too scared. I was scared too sometimes, but I never wanted to say, “I wish I had done that, I was just too scared.” Did I make mistakes? Sure, but some of my best knowledge came from my mistakes! Go for it Tania, I Love your heart!

  13. I will be 57 years young in July!! I was married at 17, had 3 kids, was a navy wife, LOVED being a stay-at-home-mom, & wouldn’t change anything if I could do it again, really! Why? Once my 3 were in school I started taking my core classes & then went to nursing school!! Then, I almost died from a botched gallbladder surgery. God wasn’t ready for me, but boy did it make me MORE THANKFUL for everything. However, took the biggest step in my life when I had to divorce my husband of 30+ years. During the divorce, hip surgery was required & almost bled to death, but this was NOT the doctor’s fault. In fact he SAVED my life! After the divorce, my health imported emenssly, continued to be blessed with grandchildren, will be up to 6 in July!! I love my life, being healthy, thinking with my own mind, doing what & when I want to, AND wearing what I like when I WANT to!!! I dress similar to you NOW!! My weakness is shoes & jewlery, especially cross & angel wing necklaces. Keep doing what your doing. I love your blog. Finally, how can I get that shirt from Chico’s?? Blessings!

Debra, I am so glad that you know who YOU are. You can see yourself changing and evolving, I love that. What you did takes courage and it is not easy. Finally, on the shirt……I would just have one made!

  14. Your post really hit home for me today 🙂 Last year I took a step out of my box and started a new career. My new administrators keep telling me that I am not “good” at my new job and that I don’t have what it takes. It has taken a lot of strength and prayer to stay on my new path, but I AM GOOD at my job and I DO have what it takes according to those that I work directly with and I love my new job! Is it because I am over 50 and just now starting a new career, I do not know, but I do know that with the Grace of God, I will succeed! I agree with you STEP OUT of the box and soar! Love the outfit today 🙂 Happy Easter!

    • Tania Reply

Lori, I am sorry that you are having to go through this. View this as a trial period. The period that you must go through to see if you are really serious and really want this. I am so glad that you have this attitude because THAT is what will help you to succeed.

  15. Ok, what’s the deal? Lol….do we have to become a blogger to get the shirt? I read your blog and two others almost everyday, and you’ve all had similar tshirts on in the last month…..are they available to purchase? Have a great Easter weekend!

    • Tania Reply

Kathy, Chico’s sent us all the shirts. I am sure that they did it to get the exposure. I couldn’t find it for purchase on their site.

  16. Tania, you are rockin’ that tee! The side knot was the perfect solution.

  17. I’m not a cheetah fan, but I really like the knot. No, it does not look too big.

  18. Love casual looks look me this and I will admit that I am in the 80% that are not bold. I had to read the poem you referred to. I do worry that wearing something bold I worry that people will say I’m dressing “to young” for age 61. So,., I need to work on changing my views on that. Keep reminding us Tania that it is ok to step out of our comfort zones and try new things.
