50 IS NOT OLD | STYLISH TRAVELING OUTFITAfter the stressful week at work, I am sure glad to see Friday roll around. Normally, I don’t pay much attention to what the day is but this week has really been a killer. I am not sure if you remember me telling you about my internet being out for about 2 weeks and I had to work by a hotspot of my phone. I am just thankful that I knew how to turn on a hotspot so that I could work. Anyway, we finally got that fixed even though it took two different technicians coming out to the house and replacing my modem and router. Here’s the thing, once all that got fixed my printer wouldn’t work.50 IS NOT OLD | STYLISH TRAVELING OUTFITI just didn’t feel like dealing with the printer so if I wanted something printed I would just email it to myself and then open up the email when I was at work. I could print it there with no issues. That worked for me but Joe is not quite as patient, like not at all. Lol! So, when I came home last night I decided to fix the printer problem. I hooked it up to my laptop computer and after about 10 minutes of reconfiguring I finally got it to work. Then I moved on to my laptop but it wasn’t connecting. That is when Joe came home and saw what I was doing. I don’t know if your husband makes you nervous when you are trying to do things but mine will drive me batty. After a few words being exchanged, he decided to go down the road for a drive and let me go back to what I was doing. It didn’t take me another 10 minutes until I had the printer, my laptop, and his desktop all up and going. All it really took was me going in and updating the wifi on the printer. When he came back about an hour later and asked me if I got it done I said, “yes, whew. It took me forever.” LOL!!! This can be our little secret.50 IS NOT OLD | STYLISH TRAVELING OUTFITThis is actually what I wore on my trip to Georgia last week. When I got in the car my Energizer Bunny Friend looked at me and said, “you call that casual?” I told her it was casual, after all, I just have a pair of pants and a sweatshirt on. She just looked at me like I had grown three heads. This black sweatshirt is one of my favorites because it is longer. This is one that I bought at Old Navy probably 3 years ago and I will still wear it every winter because it is so comfortable and warm. This is something that I wear around the house to lounge in but I will normally wear it with a pair of leggings then.

50 IS NOT OLD | STYLISH TRAVELING OUTFITI am not wearing a ton of jewelry today. I don’t have a necklace on because of the fringed scarf so I chose the Nika earrings which make a statement all by themselves. These are so striking with the silver hammered look. They are made of leather so they are really lightweight. I also have the Ezra bracelet and the Gwen bracelet on today. Since I was going to a R+F event you know I had on all of my Alex and Ani bracelets that they sent me. Lol! When you order at least 75.00 (excluding taxes and shipping) you will get ONE additional piece of jewelry from me. But, if you order at least 125.00 (excluding taxes and shipping) then you will get TWO items from me! Several of you have asked about buying more jewelry so for every additional 50.00 you spend after 125.00 I will add another piece of jewelry. January is the month to make your purchases!!! Go to plunderdesign.com/taniastephens to place an order and be sure to pick a party with my name on it.
50 IS NOT OLD | STYLISH TRAVELING OUTFITMy pants are also from Old Navy. I must have Old Navy on the brain today. This is a pair of the Rockstar Mid-Rise jeans in the color rubber band. These are a super skinny pair so be sure to size up if you order them. Anytime I buy the skinny jeans, especially the ones with stretch fabric, I will size up. This is a great neutral color that you can wear with most items. I love wearing beige and black together, it is a favorite combination on mine. I think it makes the black show up so much better. 50 IS NOT OLD | STYLISH TRAVELING OUTFITYou have got to love this black knit fringe infinity scarf. Whew, that was a mouthful. Lol! I call this my lion’s mane scarf and I always think of Scar the lion when I wear it. If you have small children or grandchildren then you know what I am talking about. This scarf also comes in Ivory if black is not your color. 50 IS NOT OLD | STYLISH TRAVELING OUTFITSo what do you think about my traveling outfit? Is this something that you could see yourself wearing or do you agree with my EBF and this that I am overdressed? Curious minds want to know.50 IS NOT OLD | STYLISH TRAVELING OUTFITI talked to a really nice real estate lady in California yesterday about becoming a business partner with me in my R+F business. She told me what kit she was going to join with and it made me start to think about how incredibly reasonable it is to become a consultant and start a business. You buy a kit, and if you already have a cell phone or a computer that is on the internet then you are pretty well set. That made me think about our lumber business and what it would take to start that business. The inventory, the building, land, office equipment and computers, the delivery truck and forklift, not to mention the employees, taxes, insurance, goodness the list goes on forever. Starting your own business for under a 1,000.00 is unheard of, especially since you will receive twice that amount in actual products. The 60-day money back guarantee also applies to becoming a consultant. Try telling the banks that you want a 60-day money back guarantee on any new business adventure you are undertaking. Lol!!! Go to www.tstephens5.myrandf.biz to check out the kits and then message me for details. Join me before the end of the month with a 695.00 or 995.00 kit and get a $100.00 back from me.

I am like you and would consider your outfit a casual day one for me!

  2. Bernie McIntyre Reply

Love the scarf Tania I have something very similar I would say you are smart casual 😁

  3. I love the outfit, and I consider it a casual, chic outfit. I get so annoyed when people ask why I’m “so dressed up.” I can wear comfortable, inexpensive clothes that don’t look slovenly. Comfortable doesn’t have to mean sloppy!

    • Ditto and bravo Heather!!!! Well said! Alot of women make absolutely no effort whatsoever!

    • Tania Reply

Exactly!!! If you have to put on a pair of pants and a shirt (and I really hope you do) then why not make them cute?

  4. I love your outfit! I know you don’t like to wear black all that often, but it looks great on you!😊

    • Tania Reply

Gina, thanks so much! I am usually afraid that black is too stark for me. As you get older “they” say that it can make you look harsh. What do “they” know anyway???? Lol!

  5. I love the understated look. Definitely is an outfit you can be seen in and be considered stylish. I wear a lot of black as it’s do versatile.

  6. Your outfit looks great and I would wear that and feel comfortable and stylish.

  7. I like the outfit but loving that someone named a color of that pant ‘rubberband’! Brilliant! Have a great weekend!

  8. I would wear this traveling, but would definitely take off the boots in the car if I was going very far!😝

    • Tania Reply

The boots are comfortable to walk in so they didn’t phase me in the least. But, I do normally look for some slip-on shoes so that I can kick them off when I travel with Joe. I wasn’t sure how my EBF would feel about my stinky feet being in her car. LOL!!!

  9. Good morning, the only thing i would do differently for traveling is the boots would be booties or shoes, something i could slip off and on easier. You look great, and casual!

  10. Oh I just love that scarf!! Great outfit. I think some people confuse casual with sloppy — you can dress very casually without looking messy.

    • Tania Reply

For some, casual means no makeup, hair pulled back, and sweatpants and a sweatshirt. If that works for them, okay. BUT, I prefer to dress like I could run into the store or a bank and not feel like people were looking at me.

  11. I really like this look. And if it is comfy I would absolutely wear it to travel. I love all the pieces and together it looks very nice. So to me you’ve taken two casual pieces, jeans and a sweatshirt, and took it to another level by adding the scarf and boots. So tell me more about the Rock star jeans. I love the way they look on you, but when I went to the Old Navy site they look like they are painted on like a pair of tights. I don’t own one single thing from Old Navy, but you have me wanting these jeans and “pixie” pants. 😄

    • Tania Reply

Lory, if you have never tried Old Navy jeans or pixies, you might want to go by the store, if you have one close, so that you can see which size you would need. I love the way their pants fit but I also know which size to order according to the style I pick.

      • Thanks Tania. I’ll do that. I travel a lot so I’ll look up Old Navy and try on the pants for sizing.

  12. Ramona Puckett Reply

I think you look stylish and comfortable! Nothing wrong with that, this is something I’d wear, or have worn, while traveling. If I’m flying, I like to keep my neck warm and wear long sleeves, I do wear different shoes, though.

    • Tania Reply

Ramona, if I was flying then I would probably change my shoes. I don’t want to run through airports in these boots and I for sure don’t want to have to take them off to go through security. Lol!

  13. Tania you look so cute! “Elevated casual”. I am trying to stop wearing the super ugly casual around my house. I feel better when I try harder. Thanks as usual for the inspiration! Julie

  14. I love that color combination! It would work for me for travel if the waistband is comfy, also I would need slip on shoes!

  15. Perfect travel outfit! I agree with a couple of other readers, I would have to wear easy off footwear.
There is some casual that should never leave home! Yours is not one of those! Thanks.

  16. You knocked it out of the park, Tania! This is a perfect travel outfit. You look really put together and the fabrics you chose are super comfortable…a win-win! The scarf is my favorite piece of this outfit for sure. It looks fabulous and balances out the boots. If you would have chosen flats, you may need to wear a thinner scarf or long necklace instead – don’t you agree?

I love black and khaki together too. This is the way I like to dress. I have old, oversized sweatshirts that I wear around the house when I’m cleaning or just want to lounge and be comfortable, but when I go out, even if I’m just running to the grocery store or to pick my daughter up from school, I’ll change into something nicer! My husband will sometimes ask ‘why’ but he knows me!! I feel more comfortable when I’m dressed neatly. You can do ‘casual’ and not look overdone but not look sloppy or like you don’t care!

  18. Nice, casual outfit. I’m wondering what your friend wore if she considers your outfit overdressed?

  19. The scarf “dresses up” the otherwise very casual elements. I would call this casual. The boots elevate it just a bit; I would not wear them at home but would certainly change into them if I were leaving the house. I like the look.

  20. Last weekend I went to a birthday party for my husband’s boss and the dress code was “dressy casual.” I thought, “What the heck is that?” But I looked up outfit ideas online and your outfit today is what I would call dressy casual. The heeled boots take this outfit up from just regular “casual.” Pair it with cute tennis shoes and it’s casual again. It’s so easy to take a comfy, casual outfit up a notch & make it classy too! Love the look, Tania!

  21. Teresa Spivey Reply

I agree with everyone, this is a great casual outfit, but looks so much dressier with the scarf and boots. I love how you elevate your outfits!! Thanks for the tips!

  22. Charlcy Green Reply

I agree w Shirley – its tge boots that take this outfit from casual to dressy! Most people wear flats or some cute tennis shoes for casual, so you are always a cut above and look like tge “rock star” you are!

  23. I think your outfit is fine for traveling. I get that “dressed up” comment too. I blame it on the fact that I always wear jewelry. I think many people see that as dressing up. I just figure that since it’s there, I need to wear it and not wait for a special occasion. I’m not talking about diamond tiaras and fancy schmancy, but I do wear a load of bangles, earrings and often a necklace. You look beautiful.

  24. Clever how the fringed scarf becomes like a part of the top and looks like it is connected, great idea!
