  • 50 IS NOT OLD | CAN YOU WEAR SLEEVELESS TOPS IN THE WINTERIt SNOWED!!! I am one of those people who gets giddy when it snows. I even went on Facebook and did a “live” video of me and Lucy (my mixed breed Yorkie) out enjoying it while the snow was still falling. Even though we only got 3 or 4 inches of snow it still made me a happy camper. Lol! Joe, on the other hand, is not as big of a fan. He told me this afternoon that he was ready for the snow to go. I said that it just snowed last night but he said that was long enough. Hahaha! BTW, this is NOT what I wore when it snowed. I would probably have snow getting in my boots if I had worn this. Lol!

50 IS NOT OLD | COATED PANTS THAT LOOK LIKE LEATHERI hope all of you are doing everything that you can to prevent getting the flu. It seems like it is really a bad strand and I keep hearing so many people who have come down with it. This flu seems to be particularly dangerous and developing pneumonia is a real issue. People are having strange symptoms that you wouldn’t normally associate with the flu, like having no aches or even a fever. Some of the schools are closing since so many children are missing and also they are trying to keep it from spreading.

50 IS NOT OLD | A GRAPHIC SWEATERMy granddaughter kept me entertained over the weekend. Little Miss Emersyn came to visit and there is never a dull moment when that happens. We polished her toenails the first thing when she got here. She picked out a teal color and then wanted a metallic pink accent of polka dots. What Em wants, Em gets. Lol! After that we were on to playing with the Barbie Dream House. This is a huge house that she got for Christmas last year but she leaves it at my house. The only problem is that she has taken almost all of her Barbies to HER house. All she had to play with was Ken. Ken got dressed, undressed, swam in the “pool” went for a ride in the convertible, and went camping. Ken was tired!!!

I am glad that so many of you liked my Sunday post last week. It was amazing to read Leah’s account of her near-death experience and I found great comfort in her words. Death is something that we all will experience and it is scary to think about. Most of us have had someone we love to pass on and her account of what they might have experienced eased some of the pain and worry that I had felt.

I was reading Hebrews chapter 11 one day this week. This is an entire chapter devoted to FAITH. What is faith exactly? That very thing is addressed in verse 1.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Who is Right?

Have you ever heard the saying, “Seeing is believing?” I am sure most of you have heard that at one time or another. Faith is believing without seeing and for some that might be an impossible task. I read a devotional from Pastor Rick Warren where he was talking about how two people can experience the same thing but have a completely different outlook.

  • In 1961, the Soviet Union sent the first cosmonaut into space. When the cosmonaut returned to Earth, the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev declared they’d been to space and didn’t see any god there.
  • About 10 months later, the United States sent John Glenn into space. He circled the earth three times on his Mercury mission, came back down, and told the world, “I saw God everywhere! I saw his glory in the galaxy. I saw his splendor in the universe. I saw his majesty in the stars.”

Both men were right. They both saw what they wanted to see. One looked at the majesty before him and saw God’s work and the other saw darkness. One had faith and the other didn’t.

Acts of Faith:

In Hebrews 11 we are reminded of so many acts of faith. I have marveled many times at the faith of Abraham who took his son Isaac to be an offering to the Lord. I can’t imagine the torment that he must have been experiencing at the thought of sacrificing his child.

What about Noah? Can you imagine the thoughts that went through his mind? I can just hear what his friends or neighbors thought when he started to build a gigantic boat without a rain cloud in sight.

We know that Sara was at first skeptical when the Lord told her that she would bear a child after she was well past the childbearing age. Who could blame her? I am sure that she had prayed and prayed and prayed for a child but that prayer had never been answered. But, she was faithful and she believed in her heart that the Lord could deliver on his promise.

Can you imagine the faith it took to walk into the Red Sea even though the waters were parted? Can you imagine the faith it took to wipe blood on the door of your home for the Passover? Can you imagine the faith it took to fight the giant Goliath?

The Choice:

Everday we have a choice about faith. When the Lord tells us to do something and we obey that is an act of faith. The Bible is full of instructions such as love thy neighbor or obey your mother and father. Why, because He said so.

In Mark 11 it says,

24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Have faith! Believe that it is already done! It will be yours! And remember Jeremiah 29:11, 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Have A Blessed Day!

50 IS NOT OLD | WHAT TO WEAR ON A SATURDAYDo you ever feel like you have just got to recharge your batteries? You would think that after I spent last weekend in Georgia and went to the spa for a nice massage that my batteries would be nice and full. Evidently, that is not the case because I came home from work last night and fell asleep until 7:15 pm. I woke up almost in a panic that I didn’t go to the store and we had nothing to eat in the house, PLUS, I didn’t have anything written for the blog. It didn’t take long for my inner “Scarlett” to take over and before I knew it I was saying, “I’ll worry about going to the store tomorrow. We can scrounge tonight.” Lol!!! Poor, Joe.

50 IS NOT OLD | STYLISH TRAVELING OUTFITAfter the stressful week at work, I am sure glad to see Friday roll around. Normally, I don’t pay much attention to what the day is but this week has really been a killer. I am not sure if you remember me telling you about my internet being out for about 2 weeks and I had to work by a hotspot of my phone. I am just thankful that I knew how to turn on a hotspot so that I could work. Anyway, we finally got that fixed even though it took two different technicians coming out to the house and replacing my modem and router. Here’s the thing, once all that got fixed my printer wouldn’t work.

50 IS NOT OLD | EMBROIDERY ON THE CATWALKI am a little on the stressed side tonight. I spent ALL day long working on payroll taxes and W-2’s. That is probably enough said for most of you, I think you can sympathize. Doing reports and W-2s are bad enough normally but remember I got a new software system this year and the kinks haven’t been completely worked out of it yet. These are two of the kinks. Lol!!!

50 IS NOT OLD | SKINNY JEANS AND LEATHER BOOTSI sure wish that I was coming to you from “my” house. I bet you gurls wouldn’t mind me taking my pictures on my front porch if it looked like this. Lol!!! This porch was so gorgeous. When I was a child growing up I would go with my dad to some of his job sites. He was a brick and stone mason and I have always loved stonework on a house. This is the perfect blend of stone, concrete, and siding. I can remember my dad telling me that the dry stacking method, where the mortar does not show from the front, was the hardest to do. It just looks like the stones have been placed on top of each other with nothing holding them in place.

50 IS NOT OLD | IT IS TIME TO EAT A LITTLE CROWGurls, I had such a good time this past weekend that I am already trying to figure out how to go back. I told Joe that we need to take a long weekend and head back down when it gets a little warmer. The Lake Oconee area is so beautiful! I had a message last week from a follower, Debbie, that she lived in Lake Oconee and would love to meet if we could find the time. Once my Energizer Bunny Friend and I got to Lake Oconee we found out that we were the first ones to arrive so we asked about a good restaurant and went to eat. Debbie and I had exchanged phone numbers so I decided to call her while we were ordering our dinner. We talked for just a second and I told her we were eating at this restaurant. “Where are you? I am at the same restaurant!” Can you believe we were at the same place at the same time? It was so much fun meeting Debbie and her friend. We talked and talked and laughed so hard. I saw people giving us some looks like we were a little crazy. Lol!

50 IS NOT OLD | PUTTING ON THE RITZEveryone needs to get away every now and then. My trip to Lake Oconee has provided some much need rest and relaxation. While relaxing was high on the agenda going out to eat for a nice dinner was even higher on the agenda. I knew we had dinner reservations on Saturday night and I was stressing over what to pack. I wanted to wear something that I hadn’t worn before and since I am traveling with a younger crowd I wanted to look really nice.
