50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO BRIGHTEN YOUR STYLEI survived! You know how you get those stickers to put on your clothing that says, “I Voted” when you vote in an election? Well, I think they need to hand out, “I Survived” stickers when you get finished with a colonoscopy. Whew! I really think the dread and some of the horror stories were the worst part. The thoughts of going without food for such a long period of time was what was driving me crazy. The funny thing is that I am not a big eater anyway. I may not eat anything until 1:00 in the afternoon some days but that is still more than was allowed on “prep” day. 50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO BRIGHTEN YOUR STYLEI really appreciated all of your comments. The puns and the jokes were especially great! There were a couple of funny things that happened the day of the testing. We went to the hospital and they took me down to the surgery room. The anesthesiologist was talking to me and explaining the procedure. I was laying on my side talking to her when all of a sudden the doctors head appeared right beside my shoulder. He scared the crap out of me (humor), I didn’t even hear him come into the room. The second thing that happened was when I went to work. They had forgotten that I was having the test so when I walked in at 1:00 pm they just thought I was running really late. They all started clapping their hands. I told them that if I hadn’t been so dedicated that I wouldn’t have come in at all. THAT is when it hit them that I had been a little busy that morning. After a few sheepish looks, they wanted to know when payroll would be ready. Lol! Amazingly enough, all the checks turned out correctly. Haha! BTW, I got the “all clear” sign and the doctor said I didn’t have to have another one for 5 to 10 years. You know which date I am picking!50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO BRIGHTEN YOUR STYLEBTW, I wanted to remind you of the Best Senior Fashion Blog contest that is currently ongoing. It will be over on the 8th so I am asking you to please vote. I know that I may be ahead at this time but that could change quickly if the voting slows down. If you vote from your phone ( I don’t know how you can vote more on your cmputer) you can vote daily by hitting the refresh button. I was just told this, I thought it was a vote once option. Anyway, here is the link. I like this top because of the feel of the material. This top is several years old but I still pull it out every year because of how soft it is. I am like a small child when it comes to the material of my clothing. I want it to be soft and cozy and this top fits the bill. The problem is that it is not my favorite color. You can see how I remedied that problem and that would be by adding a brightly colored scarf to the outfit. I am always on the lookout for scarves when I go shopping. I buy colors and prints that I like without a specific top in mind to wear them with. Even though I don’t see any brown in this scarf, I still think it “goes” with the outfit. A scarf is a very affordable option to change the look of any outfit and I try to keep a huge supply on hand.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO BRIGHTEN YOUR STYLEI just couldn’t resist wearing this pretty Sycamore set from Plunder. The teal colors just matched the scarf and I have been wanting to wear this for all of you to see. The Chelise necklace is 16-19.5″ so it is a short necklace. All these pieces are set in the antique gold color and are sprinkled heavily with rhinestones and tiny seed pearls. They look like little bugs to me, does anyone else think so? Anyway, the Sally bracelet is on an elastic band so it is super easy to get on and off. I am not sure why I didn’t wear the matching Blake earrings and instead wore the Mera earrings. It must have been because I liked the seed pearls on the Mera. Who knows what I was thinking or even if I was thinking. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO BRIGHTEN YOUR STYLEMy Rockstar jeans from Old Navy are in the color Creme Caramel. These jeans fit true to size and they are on sale right now for only 17.00. These are a super skinny leg opening so you might want to go to the store and try them on first. Because they are a skinny leg they fit easily into my boots by Marc Fisher.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO BRIGHTEN YOUR STYLEDid you see that I qualified for the free spa weekend in January? Did you know that I just received the Amazon Echo and Echo Dot FREE from Rodan + Fields? I am not trying to brag, I don’t believe in bragging. I am just trying to share with you that being a consultant for R+F has its “perks” besides having great skin and the potential for a nice paycheck. I would not bother to tell you about the business side of R+F if I truly didn’t think it was such a great opportunity for you. If you are a teacher, think of all the contacts you make yearly. If you sell real estate, think of how many people you meet on a regular basis. Retired??? If you sit down and think of all the people you have come in contact with over the last 40-70 years it would be mind-blowing. I laugh all the time when people will say, “But I don’t know anyone.” How about your family, church members, civic groups, neighbors, the children’s friends, people you went to school with, ladies at the bank or the grocery store, work, etc. Do you understand I am saying? The truth is we know LOTS of people and the best part is, they all have skin. Lol! Anyway, if you are interested in learning more about the products or the perks of becoming a consultant, you know where to find me. Haha

  1. Hello Tania🙋🏻
You look so nice in the outfit. I specially like the boots and purse. It does make a difference with the scarf… I too have a collection of scarves that I purchase in all my travels. One can do so much with a scarf to change the look of an outfit.

I have some “old” scarves that were my grandmothers. She lived to be 103. These are the tiny ones that I could only wear on a purse strap or something small but I don’t want to get them dirty.

  2. Tania, isn’t it funny how our imaginations can cause so much anxiety. Even when others assure us that the whole of the procedure is not so difficult, the fears of unknown will still trouble us. I’m glad to hear that you found the experience easier than anticipated and that you got an all clear.

You are right, we can let our minds play tricks on us.

  3. So glad the dreaded day went well Tania…..and you will not go back for 10 years.😊 ~Lisa~

At least that is one procedure that I don’t have to do for awhile. Now to get the mammogram over and done with. 🙁

  4. I have the same issue with material….I might love a dress or a top but if it feels off against my skin….I won’t buy it. I love the scarf and agree it was a good pick to brighten up the neutral palet. Glad you are “ok” and I agree with the target date of 10 years!!!! There has to be an easier way to get these things done!!!!

You would think there would be a scan of some kind. Maybe by the time my ten years are here things will be different.

I love the addition of scarves, too. How do you store your scarves?

    • Tania Reply

I have an over the door shoe rack that I hand mine on. Then there are still some that I hang over hangers and some in drawers. Lol!

Congratulations on making it through! so glad you are healthy. Love the outfit and wanted to say thank you this morning for helping to teach me that even a comfy casual outfit should look put together. you always look great! I think we sometimes forget the details when going for something more casual….at least I did.

    • Tania Reply

Mary, I might not wear the scarf or jewelry while I am working around the house but if I go anywhere then I make sure to add the finishing touches which will make the outfit.

  7. Melesa Garrison Reply

I’m sure glad everything came out ok 😉 Really, it is great that you don’t have to go back for a long time. Have a great day ❤

So happy the procedure went well for you! And the whole outfit is beautiful!

  9. I am so glad you got the all clear! Colonoscopies are so important. I had one at 50 and they found cancer. I just got the all clear from my doctor yesterday but it was 5 years of colonoscopies, sigmoidoscopies and scans. THe outcome would have been much worse if I hadn’t gone for the initial procedure. Blessings to you. Love this outfit😍

  10. So glad that you made out well during your procedure and that you were able to go in to work and do payroll. Did not tell you earlier when I had my procedure I came home and slept all day and into the early evening hours, got up, ate and went right back to bed. Best sleep ever! No way would I have been able to go in to work, let alone do payroll.

Hiiiiiiii!!!!!!!! How adorable your are, today! I guess if it’s chilly you’ll throw on a faux fur vest—my gosh, they’re all over the place! You’re so long and lean, you look fabulous in them! Moi,
I look like Miss Piggy in thick layers!! LOL!!!!

Hope you have a beautiful, wonderful and peaceful day! ❤️🐽

  12. Great that you felt up to going to work. I never can after a C day. Love the colors you put together. Do you wear scarves to work and if so, do you keep them on all day. Unless the day is freezing cold, scarves make me so hot.

OMG. Too funny. I just had a colonoscopy on Monday.. (My 2nd since I’m 60) No fun, but glad to have it “behind” me. So glad that you got the “all clear” results! They gave me propafol (?) this time instead of versed and I was much more aware after the procedure. Still wouldn’t have wanted to go to work though, let alone do “pay roll.”

I’m having one today. No water is what’s killing me!!!

  15. Just voted for you Tania, your blog has such an inclusive feel to it. Have you seen it seems I’m not the only one who has voted for you ………..😀

  16. VOTED!
Happy your procedure went well! It’s such a dreaded procedure, but such an important one.
    Love the outfit!

The scarf makes a big difference. I think you could wear a lot of different colors with that top.. I have a burgundy & brown one that would be perfect. So glad you’re all clear. Have a great day.

  18. Hi Tania, I am SO glad that everything went well and you got good results! Plus getting the payroll done! You’re Super Woman!

  19. So glad to hear you came out just fine yesterday! I don’t blame you on not going back until 10 years! Hope you have a great rest of the week!

  20. Charlcy Green Reply

Is that top really brown? On my computer it looks a pretty dusky purple w/black flecks! Ha! And yes your necklace looks like pretty little turquoise bugs! CUTE! SO glad you made it thru the ordeal and came out w/no grief!

  21. Hey Tania, I just voted and the current voting results look pretty darn good, as would be expected.:) Love your blog. You always put a little extra sunshine in my day!
