OLIVE IN THE FALL

50 IS NOT OLD | OLIVE IN THE FALLI am almost glad to be going back to work today. Whew! I am exhausted from all the cooking, eating, shopping, eating, shopping, eating, and eating. I may not recover until it is time for Christmas feasting to start. Oh man, just thinking about all the baking of cookies, pies, and cakes kind of makes me a little nauseous. Speaking of Christmas, I saw a lot of trees going up over the weekend and lots of decorations being put up. AND, the most important arrival has come to many houses…….the ELF!50 IS NOT OLD | OLIVE IN THE FALLI am so glad that the ELF didn’t exist when my children were little. Lol! That sorry ELF is a tattletale for sure and also he seems to be the one that is wreaking all the havoc. The messes that ELF makes needs to have his little bottom spanked and put in time out. I have seen flour all over the kitchen and floor, I have seen popcorn in sofas and chairs, and then I have seen bathroom escapades that end up with toilet paper everywhere. Maybe I need to read the ELF book because I don’t really understand the whole making a mess part. And, I don’t understand why you are not supposed to touch the ELF. Maybe some of you can enlighten me to the ELF ways.50 IS NOT OLD | OLIVE IN THE FALLEmersyn got a new kitten at the local animal shelter the other day. Its name is Olive, so in honor of Olive, I am dressing in that color. Lol! I admit that olive is NOT one of my favorite colors. It is much too dull for me but when I found this warm blanket scarf with the olive color woven in, I knew I would be able to give my face the extra warmth it needed. Olive does nothing for my complexion or my attitude. I like brighter colors to stimulate me. I don’t even remember where I bought this top but I like the feel of it. It is a mix of a sweater and a sweatshirt and it is comfortable. BTW, don’t forget to vote for me for the best fashion blog at Seniorhomes.com.

50 IS NOT OLD | OLIVE IN THE FALLThe olive green leather strap of the Landon necklace just matches my top. I knew exactly which necklace I wanted to wear as soon as I picked out the top. The shorter necklace is the Marci. That necklace has a lot of oranges so I picked it to bring out the orange tones in the scarf. And the Ennis cuff bracelet on my left arm goes with almost anything in the fall colors. It has purple, green, orange, blue, and crimson colors on it.50 IS NOT OLD | OLIVE IN THE FALLThe dark blue jeans are the Diana from Kut From The Kloth. I have loved this pair of jeans ever since I got them. They have become my “go-to” pair. The ankle boots are by Marc Fisher. I bought these last year and I didn’t see them on the website but I did see some gorgeous ones by Vionic. I have heard that Vionic shoes are extremely comfortable. If you have ever worn this brand be sure to let me know.

50 IS NOT OLD | OLIVE IN THE FALLI know some of you might not be a fan of scarves so I wanted to give you a look at the outfit without it. This also gives you a better look at the cinched waist vest I have on. This was an earlier purchase this fall at Cato Fashions. This brings some of the trendy military styles into the look without being overwhelming. Start small when you are looking at a new trend and see if it is something that will grow on you. This is a different look for me and I am still on the fence about it. I don’t hate the look but I don’t love the look either. Lol! I guess I can just take it or leave it.50 IS NOT OLD | OLIVE IN THE FALLToday is Cyber Monday, the day that you are supposed to buy online. 1. Oh I love this cute outfit w the scarf! I cant sleep so got up to read your blog. You must never sleep because the blog for tomorrow always arrives late the night before. Thanks for all the fun sales and freebies. I hope Olive and Emersyn are friends for a long time!

  2. Here’s the lowdown on Vionic. Love them! The sandals sit your heel slightly lower, so they suggest wearing them an hour the first day, two the second, etc to build up to full day. I say- never wear them two days in a row. I wear them every third day or so. Vionic Bedroom Shoes-YES!!!!! I haven’t tried their closed toe shoes, but def recommend!

ELF was designed by a local woman for her children to remember to be GOOD. She NEVER intended it to go crazy with the shenanigans. Elf on the Shelf-intended them to stay in one place. You can’t touch them because it makes them lose their magic and can’t get back to report to Santa.

Love Olive Drab, as we call it. Trying to find a cute jacket in olive drab now.

    • I know a lot of women who swear by Vionic shoes and love them. I know that the local woman who wrote the ELF book was from Georgia. I have bought the book for my grandkids but never actually read the book. If I was a mean child I would be touching that ELF all the time. Who would want a snitch telling Santa when I had been bad. Lol!

  3. I love when pets are rescued from the shelter!❤️

We have Dolly the Elf that visits our house. She doesn’t make messes, thankfully.🤣

Hope you have a wonderful day.

    • If I had an ELF I would have them always cleaning the house. Haha! Maybe they could tell Santa when the children were being helpful and cleaning.

  4. You know I’m going to say I love this outfit with the scarf! Lol….I have a very similar vest and like wearing it with a red plaid shirt. I know nothing about Vionic footwear, but read another ladies blog and she swears by them! Elf on the shelf has been visiting my daughters house for the past few years but I’m not quite sure how our 18 month old grandson Ty is going to react ….lol….should be interesting , as he loves to touch everything! My hardest decision for today is what color nails I want. 😜 … Have a great day!

  5. Yes to the outfit. I think the scarf iso the cherry on top. I have the same coloring as you, so I tend to shy away from olive also. But this is a great look!

  6. I love the vest, have one in a blue/Gray. I have one question, does anybody where shoes any more? I just bought a cute pair of navy suede flat sling backs from Madewell I love them with skinny jeans. All I see are booties, even with skirts?
Rescue kitties are the best! I have 3. Good luck to Olive!

  7. I love this outfit! I probably would have chosen a darker colored purse. That one seems a little light for fall/winter and for the outfit. Keep showing us fun ideas! I love it.

  8. Get so many color combinations ideas from you! You are a true fashionista. What is your background in fashion? Love the outfit.

  9. Unlike you, I LOVE olive…..obsessed, really! Ever since high school…someone told me how GREEN my eyes look when I wear olive…..it has been my favorite color. I’m a natural born blonde, hazel eyes – sometimes brown, sometimes gold, sometimes green. I love your posts……….your outfits give me inspiration! Thank you!!!!!

    • Ahh, yes, it would look great with your coloring! Blue makes my eyes “pop” so I can imagine that olive does the same for you.

  10. Glad to see someone else wear olive! I first bought a pair of olive pants and saw how neutral & versatile they were. So, I’ve since added olive booties, olive boots, olive sweater & purse, cardigan & jackets. Yep. I went nuts. To add some zing, I love to contrast it with purple – which is my favorite color.

  11. Great look for you. Really like olive, but then I’m a ‘spring- warm’. Took your advice not too long ago and bought the Cato green cinch military vest….wear it often.

  12. Tania,

Have you ever had your “colors” done? I’m curious as to what your season is…you seem to look really good in a variety of color palattes. I think you look good in warm colors in the Autumn spectrum like olive and mustard as well as the brighter as in Spring. I’ve had mine done a few times and each time I was a different season— every one but Spring. I also wanted to add that I love CATO- the prices are great and the quality is really surprising for the price- I bought some nice tops this past summer and have had so many compliments on each one.

    • No, Roxanne, I have never had my colors done. I probably wear the wrong things all the time but I do try to wear things that I think look good on me. Cato has such a wide variety of things and the prices can’t be beaten. Especially, since they put things on sale so fast.

  13. Did you mention the brand of scarf that you are wearing? Like you, I can only wear olive with other brighter colors at my face. I used my elf in my second grade classroom each December to teach friendly letter writing. Each child could write to Jingles the Elf once a day, as long as it was written in friendly letter form on tiny paper and put in Jingles bag. Jingles would answer each of their, also on tiny paper (groan), and “bring it back” in his bag each morning. The children would come in so excited each morning. Jingles would tell them of the great behaviors that he noticed and guide students who struggled. I retire this year so no cramped hand this December! I will miss it though!

    • Elaine, I couldn’t remember where I bought the scarf from. It was probably at a local boutique in town. I love the story of your Jingles. It is teachers like you who touch children’s lives. Thank you for all you have done.
