LOOK FOR THE UNIQUE DETAILS

50 IS NOT OLD | LOOK FOR THE UNIQUE DETAILSJoe is watching clips from Talladega nights and he is laughing like a nut. That movie is so old, I have no clue where he even found some of the clips. The only thing I really remember about the movie was the scene where they were praying and he thanked the Lord for his, “red-hot, smoking wife.” I remember that part because Joe says that nightly. Hahahaha!!!!

BLUE AND GRAY LOOK GOOD TOGETHER

50 IS NOT OLD | BLUE AND GRAY LOOK GOOD TOGETHERLet’s get this week started! How about a little attitude adjustment for everyone? The mantra of Plunder is, “Choose Happy.” So for today why don’t we all make an effort to look on the bright side of things. I know there are times when a silver lining is almost impossible to find. I also know that there are times when we just choose to be a grump. Joe tells me he likes those days because he gets things done. I hate when he has those days. 😳50 IS NOT OLD | BLUE AND GRAY LOOK GOOD TOGETHERThis weekend was busy!!! It seems like all weekend long I had something waiting for me to do. I went to the grocery store to buy some groceries which is not my favorite thing to do. When I came home I honked the horn for Joe to come and help me carry in the groceries. He started helping me put up the items and I casually asked him, “how much do you think I spent at the store?” He looked at the bags and said, “Probably about 70.00.” I looked at him like he was crazy and told him to try more than three times that amount. WHAT!!! You spent over 210.00 at the grocery store! I told him it was 247.00 to be exact and I thought he was going to have a stroke. He hasn’t been to the store in a very long time. Lol! I think the biggest culprit was a turkey breast, which was not that big, but it was 22.00. Groceries are getting out of hand.50 IS NOT OLD | BLUE AND GRAY LOOK GOOD TOGETHERRemember when I hosted Fashion Flash last week, well Cindy is hosting today so be sure to head over there (after your finished here) and check out what everyone has to day today. This is not a color combination that I would have chosen on my own. You need to pay attention to your accessories and see what colors are in them and how well they look together. Gray and pale blue look awesome together but I had no idea. The Gabbie necklace has variations of these colors all through it and the hanging tassel matches the one on my purse. You would think I had planned that! Hahaha! I also have on my BELIEVE necklace, my word of 2017. I bought the necklace in Marietta, GA but I think Amazon carries this brand also. It is a brand called Monarch Inspirations and here is a similar necklace from them.50 IS NOT OLD | BLUE AND GRAY LOOK GOOD TOGETHERMy earrings are called Angie. These are very dainty little triangles that are gold with gray centers. BTW, if you noticed my eyelashes and would like some of you very own, I have a deal for you. Order the Lash Boost as a PC and I will send you a free mini eye cream to keep those eyes looking good. Go to www.tstephens5.myrandf.com and hit the shop for skincare tab. Then go to the Enhancements items.50 IS NOT OLD | BLUE AND GRAY LOOK GOOD TOGETHERCan you believe how well these bracelets match my necklace? They look almost identical when I hold them beside each other. These bracelets are c/o Kay & Star. If you have been reading my blog very long you will recognize the name. I love the jewelry that Kay & Star have sent me to review! The items are always wonderfully presented and are great quality. Julie sent me a message and asked me about picking out a one-word bracelet set. I picked out the word BELIEVE, but I message her to tell her I wanted to buy an additional bracelet with the word TRUST. She messaged me back that they were making me a set for me and would be shipping them out. 50 IS NOT OLD | BLUE AND GRAY LOOK GOOD TOGETHERThis is my BELIEVE bracelet in the darker gray stones. The TRUST has lighter colors and all of the bracelets match and can be worn together or separately. The bracelets are on elastic and are very easily slid on or off. 50 IS NOT OLD | BLUE AND GRAY LOOK GOOD TOGETHER50 IS NOT OLD | BLUE AND GRAY LOOK GOOD TOGETHER50 IS NOT OLD | BLUE AND GRAY LOOK GOOD TOGETHER50 IS NOT OLD | BLUE AND GRAY LOOK GOOD TOGETHER
I love these new boots that I just bought. I got these when the overstock store had a 1/2 price sale of Marc Fisher shoes. I really like the stacked heel and the dip down in the front. That little dip helps to elongate your legs just a little. I wore them with my Vigoss leggings and I liked the look.

50 IS NOT OLD | BLUE AND GRAY LOOK GOOD TOGETHERMy pale blue 3/4 sleeve cardigan is many years old. I went on a buying spree one year for 3/4 cardigans and I bought one in almost every color. Haha! I still love this style because they hide a multitude of problems and the 3/4 length sleeve is very flattering.

50 IS NOT OLD | BLUE AND GRAY LOOK GOOD TOGETHERI want to thank those of you who joined me in my first ever ZOOM call on Sunday night. It was a lot of fun and my Energizer Bunny Friend was very sweet to host this for me. This was a first for me so you gurls were my guinea pigs. Lol! EBF and I are thinking of having these calls weekly so if you couldn’t join us tonight you might get another chance later this week.

Be sure to check out the Kay & Star and get your own one-word bracelet. What is your word for this upcoming year?

The Plunder incentive this month ends on the 31st. They are giving you an additional 3 pieces of jewelry, just because. If you want to sign up go to www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens and hit the Become A Stylist button. If you need some more information then just message or email me.

Rodan and Fields is a company that is going places. It is a HUGE opportunity for someone looking to have a business from their home. The doctors have already paved the way with Proactive and it is pretty much a household name. You do not have to try to get them to understand that the products WORK! I am super excited to be building a team here in the US and I even have some ladies in Australia that are hopping on board. I would love to have a consultant in every state plus Canada. Ask yourself if you know anyone who has skin. That is pretty much the big picture. Everyone can use R & F so put the doubts aside and actually BELIEVE. Go to www.tstephens5.myrandf.biz and go down until you see the Be You Own CEO button. Email me with any questions at fiftyisnotold@gmail.com

CONTROLLING THE TONGUE

Have you ever heard the saying that the “tongue is the hardest muscle to control?” I know that controlling my tongue has been a struggle for me over the years.

How many times have you “blurted” out words that you wish you could take back? I have said things that I knew immediately were hurtful. You could see it in the eyes of the person I was talking to. It didn’t matter if the remark was intentional or not, it still hurt the person.

How many times have you deliberately said something with the intent to hurt? Maybe someone said something to you first or did something that hurt you so you lash out. They started it, they hurt me first, they deserve everything they get. Guilty, guilty, and guilty. It sounds like the old Pee Wee Herman saying, I know you are but what am I?”

Gossip is one of the tongues favorite activities. Telling your best friend or co-worker the latest story that you heard sounds innocent enough but if it is propagating a “story” that may or may not be true. Saying that you heard the story but don’t know if it is true still doesn’t make a difference. Have you ever played the game where someone whispers in your ear and you have to turn and repeat what was said to the next person? By the time the story gets around the room the story is completely changed and the same thing happens with gossip.

What about cussing? I have recently been seeing a lot of items with the saying, “I love Jesus but I cuss a little.” There is something about this that bothers me. I have been guilty once again of cussing and not controlling my tongue. I can’t think of once that I was proud of my words. Just this week I caught myself uttering some words that I immediately regretted.

James 3:7-12New International Version (NIV)

All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

None of us are perfect and I will venture to guess that everyone has been guilty of most of these things. I don’t know about you, but I am going to try to be aware of what I say and how if affects someone else. When I slip up, and I will, I am going to immediately ask for forgiveness. I can only hope the Lord will forgive me as well as the person I hurt.

Try not to be Pee Wee Herman!

Have A Blessed Day!

WILL LIGHT BLUE BE THE COLOR OF SPRING

50 IS NOT OLD | WILL LIGHT BLUE BE THE COLOR OF SPRINGI hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday. I am probably going to stay inside and do a little catch-up work. It is supposed to be cold outside so I think a roaring fire, my electric blanket, and laptop will all be on my things to do list. I have a couple of posts upcoming that I need to work on, and a ton of emails that I need to answer and send out. Goodness, it makes me tired just thinking about it all. But, before I start, let me tell you a story that happened Friday.

PINK AND GRAY FOR SPRING

50 IS NOT OLD | PINK AND GRAY FOR SPRINGThe sun was out today and I even took a picture and put it on my Facebook page to prove it. It has rained so much I told Joe that we need to have a sale at the lumber company. He asked me what kind of sale I had in mind and I told him, “Ark Supplies.” He looked at me and said, “What?” He just looked so confused, so I told him again. Once again he asked me what I was talking about. I finally yelled at him, “ARK!!!!” Oh, okay, I get it!

SOAR IN 2017

50 IS NOT OLD | SOAR IN 2017NO RED!!! I may be cured but don’t count on it. Lol! I thought you might be suffering from RED overload so I decided to give you a break, at least for a day or two. I was really liking the red but then I look at this more subtle, toned down look, and I like it too. I guess there is a time and a place for everything. I just thought to myself about when I was in school and you would get a note passed to you. Do you like me? Check the box below, and of course, you had a yes box and a no box. Do you like me better in red? Check yes or no. Lol!

THE LANGUAGE OF LOVE

50 IS NOT OLD | THE LANGUAGE OF LOVEI bet you are shocked to see me wearing red today. Lol! I just couldn’t help myself, I have been waiting and waiting to wear these “love” leggings, and I couldn’t wait any longer. I really like Valentine’s Day and I have been trying to pinpoint the reason why. It’s not for any present (I buy my own), it’s not for the candy, and it’s not going out for a nice meal out. I think it is because of Valentine’s cards that we used to exchange when we were kids in school.

GOING THROUGH A RED PHASE

50 IS NOT OLD | GOING THROUGH A RED PHASEI can’t believe January is almost at an end. It seems like we were just watching the ball drop a couple of days ago. Why is it that when you are older that time seems to fly by and when you were younger it seemed to drag? When we are young we are constantly wishing out lives away. When I was young I would wish I was 13 then I would be a teenager. At 16 I can drive a car and hit the open road. I would be an adult at 18 and you couldn’t tell me what to do. At 21 I would then be considered legal. That is 21 years of your life that you have longed for another age. Funny how when that 30 year old mark comes around you start saying, “wait a minute, I want to stay in my 20’s.” Then comes 40, 50, and so on and so on. There was a commercial that used to come on in Nashville when I lived in Tennessee and it was something about being a,”young Nashvillean.” After you reached the age of 35 you were no longer eligible for that promotion. My oldest son is now 36, he is not even considered young anymore. Lol! What does that make me, “Old As Dirt?” hahaha

CASTING THE FIRST STONE

50 IS NOT OLD | CASTING THE FIRST STONEWe sure have become a rock throwing society. You would think from all the stones being lobbed back and forth at one another that we had never made mistakes ourselves. Let me start by saying I have made plenty of mistakes and unfortunately I expect I will make plenty more.

Have you ever done something so very stupid that you can’t believe you did that? Have you ever said anything that as soon as the words left your mouth you were instantly regretting that decision? I have been in the middle of a story before and it dawned on me that a part of the story that was going to “hurt” the person I was talking to. An example would be to be talking about someone who is short and then realize that the person you are talking to has a complex about their height. Maybe it is a weight issue, lack of hair, or even death. I have stuck my foot in my mouth PLENTY of times that I wish I could have taken back.

What about others? We have all witnessed mistakes that other people made. Did you laugh or snicker? Did you immediately run and tell your best friend what you just heard or saw? Again, I have been guilty. Let’s say that someone you don’t like did something really stupid, did you get some satisfaction? How about the person who has wronged you previously and they make a huge mistake. I have been known to say, “looks like Karma just smacked them in the face.” Other favorite sayings are: “they deserved that,” “couldn’t have happened to a nicer person,” “what comes around goes around,” and many other sayings about payback.

scha·den·freu·de  is defined as pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune. When I looked up in the Urban Dictionary here are some of the examples given:

Watching a vegetarian being told she just ate chicken

Being on the elevator when somebody shouts “Hold the door!”

Straight-A students getting Bs

Waking doormen from their naps

Watching tourists reading maps

Football players getting tackled

CEOs getting shackled

Watching actors never reach the ending of their oscar speech!

Let’s face it, we all make mistakes, but do we all show compassion for those that just made the mistake? The Lord said to love thy neighbor as yourself and let anyone of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her. Reach out to those who are hurting, mortified, and embarrassed. Help those up who just dropped the ball. Show compassion and love instead of finding glee and satisfaction. And hope that when the time comes when you are the one that is wishing for a “do-over” that you will find compassion and love is what comes back at you. Karma can also be a good thing.
Have a Blessed Day!
