LEOPARD PRINT LEGGINGS

50 IS NOT OLD | LEOPARD PRINT LEGGINGSDo you ever have those days when you feel like you are flying along, everything seems to be going just right and then you have the rug pulled out from under you? I think most of us have experienced that at one time or another. That’s how I am feeling right now. I’ve had a couple of “emails” where a reader explains her dislike of something I am doing or feels the need to tell me why she is unsubscribing from my blog and it has sent me into a tailspin.50 IS NOT OLD | LEOPARD PRINT LEGGINGSI immediately start thinking about changing this or that, shopping somewhere else, or writing differently. I am not sure if it is a good trait or a bad trait, but I am a people pleaser. I can’t stand for someone to be unhappy or mad at me, it drives me crazy. I know that it is impossible to please everybody and that some people are never going to be happy, but it still drives me nuts. We have all gotten so used to the idea of “unfriending” someone on Facebook that we never really think about what that means. Unsubscribe or unfriend, it means the same thing, I don’t like “you.” Most of the time we are unaware that someone no longer wants to be our “friend” but occasionally you find this out and you feel hurt. I have gone to see something on someone’s Facebook page before and it shows the friendship status. It will either say “friends” or “add friend.” But I thought I was already friends with this person and then it hits me, they have unfriended me at some time. That is almost like a punch in the stomach. The funny thing about that occasion was I wasn’t really friends with this person anyway, we were more like acquaintances. I shouldn’t have even cared but for some reason I did. Months down the road I got a “friend” request from this person and I almost said no, you had your chance. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | LEOPARD PRINT LEGGINGSI am going with black again because of a request from a reader to post some black attire. She has to wear black for her job, and she wanted some inspiration. Black is tricky for a lot of people because I can be harsh next to your face. I like the neckline of this dress because it gives some separation before the black starts. This is a know swing dress that I bought at Old Navy and I am obsessed with this dress. I really wish I had found it earlier in the year, I would own one of every color that had. I plan on checking back with them on Black Friday and see if there are any available then.

50 IS NOT OLD | LEOPARD PRINT LEGGINGSI have on my silver waterfall necklace. I think all the little chains make this a fun necklace, it has a little movement as you walk. And I also am wearing my Mason earrings. These have quickly become my favorite earrings and I wear them anytime I think my outfit calls for silver.50 IS NOT OLD | LEOPARD PRINT LEGGINGSI bet you weren’t expecting the leopard print leggings when you first started looking at this outfit. Lol! Of course, you could go with something a little more sedate (aka – boring haha) but I liked the fun look of this pair. These are the softest leggings and they were only $10.00. I bought these at a street fair, not exactly where you would think of to go buy leggings.

50 IS NOT OLD | LEOPARD PRINT LEGGINGSThe Dooney & Bourke purse was a clearance sale item that I bought last year. I carried this a lot last winter and I can see the wear marks on the bottom. I admit that I am not gentle with my purses, I just recently started hanging them up at work instead on setting them on the floor.

50 IS NOT OLD | LEOPARD PRINT LEGGINGSI put these c/o booties on first because I didn’t want to be black, black, and black. However, when I looked at this picture I immediately went and changed. The beige color in the shoes and the leggings didn’t look right together. The boots made the leggings look lavender, which they aren’t.50 IS NOT OLD | LEOPARD PRINT LEGGINGSThe two bracelets are the Wanda and the Logan. The Logan was a hostess rewards item back a month or so ago and they must have sold out of it, I can’t find it on their site anymore. Through the rest of November I I am offering 10% off any order over 50.00 (excluding the taxes and shipping) I will send you a check. To place an order for the 10% off with Plunder, go to www.plunderdesign.com/party/tania Plunder will be offering Black Friday specials. They will announce on Thursday what the specials will be and they will be available on Friday for purchase.
50 IS NOT OLD | LEOPARD PRINT LEGGINGSToday I will be at the craft fair that my woman’s club is having. I was there last night setting everything up, and I will need to be back at 8:00 this morning. I will not be back home till around 5 or 6 tonight. It will be a loooong day. I hate letting little things get me in a funk. I need to start singing a snappy tune and see if that will help. What do you do to overcome the blahs? Do you let other people’s comments get to you? Am I just a whiny baby? Lol!!! Nevermind, don’t answer that last one. Hahaha!

I know everyone is not interested in Rodan and Fields, so that is why I post about it at the end of my blog, you can simply choose to skip over anything you don’t want to know about. But, for those of you who are interested in their skincare products, I am giving you a link that you can use to help determine which product would be right for you. Go to www.tstephens5.myrandf.com/Pages/OurProducts/GetAdviceSolutionsTool

I am offering 10% off any order over 50.00 (excluding the taxes and shipping) I will send you a check. To place and order or look at some of the products, go to www.tstephens5.myrandf.com.

The reason I post about R & F is because I love the products, and I love the results. You have heard me say over and over again that I love a jacket or cardigan because they help hide any lumps and bumps I have. However, my face is the one thing that I cannot hide. It is out there for EVERYONE to see EVERY DAY, and I want to look the best I can.

You are a beautiful human being inside and out. Don’t let things bother you so much because you are giving them power over you. Unfortunately, putting yourself out there always carries a risk of hurtful comments or emails. It’s a pity people find the need to be so cruel. I try to be kind and respectful of everyone. Keep up the good work. You are appreciated. I look forward to your posts each day and have learned to shop my closets more since I found your blog.

It is hard to be on the internet. I never thought much about it when I started the blog, but you can’t control who sees you, or what they say. Most of the time remarks that a little “catty” don’t bother me, I take them with a grain of salt, but occasionally I will let someone get under my skin.

    You’re sensitive ~ and that’s a good thing!
Apparently that person wasn’t taught if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
I agree that this is bound to happen because you put yourself out there online, but it is hurtful and unkind.
Remind yourself that the great things others have to say far outweigh this unhappy negative nellie.
I thoroughly enjoy your personality and style!

    HI Tania,
Please don’t let this person or anyone else’s negative comments affect you. I believe you mentioned this before, and I told my daughter about you when she let a negative comment get her down, (my daughter has a food blog, and she also told me of other bloggers whom someone always has to just leave a negative opinion!). I follow a couple of other blogs and this happens to them, but just put into perspective the amount of appreciative followers you have, compared to a minute of negative feedback, it makes me wonder why they would bother to leave this negative feedback when there is so much going on in this world!
I know for me, and from so many wonderful ladies here comments, you inspire and lift us up daily, for me with so much I can relate to! Life is hectic for me, as so many can relate, but yesterday thinking of your posts I took the time go thru each item of clothing in my closet and put a nice outfit together, the blouse still had the tags on it, and I received so many compliments today in work!
So thank you Tania, and enjoy your day! 😊

I know exactly how you feel about being unfriended or unfollowed and how it can such a profound impact on your perspective of your blog. I recently found out that another blogger is very selective as to which IG accounts she follows and apparently mine was not one of them even though we follow each others blogs. My feelings were hurt and brooded for days. Fortunately a few positive affirmations of my efforts came to me shortly afterwards and I realized that her decisions on which IG accounts she follows is about her and not about me. As to your outfit, I’m a huge fan of leopard pants/leggings and I love your styling of them with a dress/tunic. I’m also a huge fan of fringy necklaces like the one you’re wearing so your look is a hit with me. Thanks for sharing your little bit of heartache and just know that there are many who think you are the bees’ knees.

Yep, been there Rena. I am terrible when it comes to following other bloggers, I have so much on my plate that I never seem to have the time to “play” on social media, I only get to post. I would love to have a vacation where I could find everyone.

    November 19, 2016

I would feel the same, but as Rena said, it s about her not you! I once had a naar comment when I just started to write in English and I was also upset for days.Come, step over it with me and leave that person behind. Say bye bye and gone! ……..Now , leopard leggings! Aren t they fabulous!! I wore them a few months ago and I love them! They look Damn good on you!

It’s awful when someone is negative towards us, I agree it’s like a body blow but think of all us gurls that have come to look upon you as a friend. I personally wouldn’t be so rude as to tell you if I wasn’t happy, I would just slip off quietly but some people just love to provoke a reaction… I would like to try some patterned leggings but I don’t know if I’m brave enough, maybe I should just try some and please myself for a change 😀 Your necklace is fab.

    • Tania
      November 19, 2016

I was afraid also, Caroline, of the printed leggings. But I tried one pair, and now I have several. They are a little harder to style, but they make a huge impact. GO FOR IT!!!

Love your outfit Tania always love a bit of animal print 🐅 I am also a people pleaser and it can be hard work!! But over the years I have l learned to worry less about it .aA friend said to me once”what someone thinks of me is absolutely none of my business” and that really hit home we always focus on the one negative amongst all the lovely positive like the other ladies I love your post and it brightens up my day 🙊🙈🙉💕

Love you outfit. You are beautiful inside out. Don’t let that negative person bother you. Negative people are just people that are jealous of you and your accomplishments. You are Christ like each and every day. I always say consider the source when people are being ugly and most important pray for them. The bible says to pray for your enemies. It is hard to pray for someone that mistreats you. Pray for them to look to him and be Christ like and not show ugliness in their daily living. When someone is ugly that is the devil’s way of trying to trip you up. There are so many women that only wish they could do what you do. I am one of them. Love in Christ. May he continue to Bless you greatly daily.

    • Tania
      November 19, 2016

Kathy, thanks for putting this in perspective. I’m afraid I did let the devil win round one of that fight. I am going to make sure he does not win round 2, 3, or 4.

I’ve been there my self not understanding people and their actions. Even family can disappoint you. It took me along time to realize through counseling that the only person’s actions we can control in life our are own. I have the same problem. I like everybody and I just assume they like me. This is not always true. Be true to yourself and the ones around you will love you for who you are. I have that same dress! So comfortable to wear. Makes a great cover up at the pool but I like the way you brought it into fall. Leggings are fun! When I am down. I first try to realize why I am feeling this way. Can I do anything to change it this minute. If not give it to God. He will guide you. Do something just for you today. Take a walk. Explore a new store. I love thrifting so I go to consignments and goodwill. Exercise will put you in a better mood. Remember to put you first today!

    Hi Tania,
I love the leopard leggings – they are the perfect touch of sassy!!!
In addition to your great style, your fun, positive and perfectly lovely personality make me look at your blog first every day. Some people can’t deal with others’ success or positive ways. Please don’t let these types steal your thunder. Feel sorry for them and keep up the fab job you are doing. There are clearly far more of us out here that adore you and your wonderful blog;)

    November 19, 2016

Tania….I am also a “pleaser” and hate it when someone is upset with me. It’s difficult to overcome that feeling. However, just look at all the comments and positive thoughts pouring your way! I personally can’t wait to read your blog every morning. It’s so hard to find yourself on terms of fashion at a “certain age”. I keep thinking if I buy something new it will help but you inspire and challenge me to look in my closet. Your blog is a bright spot in my day! You are great! Love your work!

  • Linda
    November 19, 2016

I follow many fashion blogs for inspiration and you have inspired me many times! Wear more color, step out of your comfort zone, steer clear of matchy matchy, etc. Haters will always be haters; don’t let them get to you. Be yourself because many of us love you exactly the way you are. I am 65 years old and know I can’t wear everything you do but I certainly do like pushing myself to try! Keep up the good work!

    Tania –
Along with your sense of style, I have always been impressed by your confidence and values that shine through your posts. I appreciate and relate to that which is why I follow you. Please don’t let anyone’s opinion have the power to hurt or change you. You are terrific just the way you are!

Love your style! Love your blog! Love you! As much as we want everyone to like us, it’s just not possible, and really, that’s not your purpose. Realistically, you wouldn’t like their outfits either, and neither would the rest of us who still subscribe to you, so….LET THEM GO. Give them a nice Virginia goodbye and wish them well. If they are unkind to you, well…only kind people are welcome here. This is a group of friends…LET THEM GO! If you don’t, the rest of us will show them the door, because we’re your friends and we don’t let people treat our friends that way. So keep your chin high, remember your purpose and kiss those who don’t really belong here goodbye and wish them well. They will find a blog to suit their needs and a new group of friends. 💕

Your blog is my favorite one out there!!! I love how you don’t wear the same thing over and over. You really mix it up with pants, jeans, dresses, skirts, classy, boho, etc. It gives me lots of ideas. I also love your posts and stories and Sunday morning “talks”. Please keep it up! You are an encouragement to me and many others. 🙂 Blessings to you.

    November 19, 2016

Love the outfit, your blog, and you are a doll! You have a kind, sensitive heart that thinks of others and their feelings. Unfortunately, not everyone is always so kind. You obviously have a strong faith and your Sunday messages are always so moving. So, take a moment to be hurt, a moment to fantasize about being ugly in return, then say a little prayer for them. I’ll say a little prayer for you! Blessings!!!!

I don’t post often but love following you! NEVER a full inbox and what I enjoy most is your sass and sense of self. I’ve never seen you in a pic where did didn’t “own” it and make it yours. Please don’t let mean spirited chatter dull your sparkle!

  • Sue
    November 19, 2016

Your blog is one of my favorites! I’m sorry that others comments have upset you, it seems that often on the internet people feel very comfortable being less than kind. Like you, I am a people pleaser and it gets me down when this happens. Hang in there and try to realize that it’s more “them” than you! I love your style! If I don’t like a particular outfit it’s my choice to comment or not. Would people walk up to someone they see on the street and make those comments in person?! Most of us had mommas that raised us with the “rule” that “if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all”! Love all your fashions and all your hair and makeup/skincare advice!

Tania, I started following your blog because you have a love of color. I enjoy your style sense but even more your Godly spirit and sense of humor. Everyday I look forward to your post so I can have my morning giggle. So many love you–let go of the ones that don’t. They are just negative energy and will hopefully find their way.

I gotta admit, as a general rule animal prints are not my thing. So I saw the post title and was prepared to dislike today’s outfit. Well shut my mouth it’s ADORABLE! I love this and would totally wear the whole thing!!
Tania, girl, try and recover from your DISEASE TO PLEASE. Anyone who unfriends or unsubscribes from you is a grump! I’m serious, you are a daily ray of sunshine and should keep on being you!
The online world is even more full of nasty people than the actual world. Something about a screen makes some people feel okay with lettin loose their worst.

    Hi Tania.
I just love your blog. I live in Australia and am closer to 60 than 50 but each day I get so much enjoyment out of seeing what you are wearing. Many of the outfits I can put together with things I already have in my wardrobe. I just love everything about you so please don’t feel flat just because someone has made a negative comment. Just think how many positive comments you receive daily – they far out weigh the negatives.
Keep the gorgeous outfits coming and just believe that really you are the only person you need to please.
Feel great and strut your leopard print (or your distressed jeans ) or anything you want.

One of the downsides to the internet is how anonymous it is. I think people say things that they would not say face to face. They are more harsh & do not consider others feelings. However, I feel a lot of love on this site. Most everyone is wanting inspiration & realistic ideas to keep up with trends & enjoy life in general.
I hope the few bad apples don’t get you down too much! There are bushels & bushels of friends cheering you on

I like black because it is sort of safe sometimes , when you don’t’ have the time or inclination to figure out a colorful outfit. Dress it up or down is always easy. I love the leopard leggings too! Love your blog – look forward to it every day ! From “a southern girl stuck in a Wisconsin world”

Love the outfit- I’m going to have to get some leopard leggings! I am a people-pleaser also. But we have to learn that not everyone will like us. You’ve got a ton of fans on this blog-take encouragement from that. Plus, Jesus loves you and that’s who we really need to please!

    November 19, 2016

Sweetie let me tell you something. I ran across your blog in September 2015, in the middle of one of many sleepless nights. My husband had just been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and my only child had been hit head on and almost killed on his motorcycle coming home from work. I had to leave a job I loved to become a full time caregiver. Now anyone that knows me will tell you I’m the biggest girly girl and would accessorize my flannel pjs to take the trash out. You never know who will be driving by at 5:30 in the morning. 😉 Needless to say I went from dressing like I’m having tea with the queen everyday to grabbing a 5 minute shower, throwing on a hoodie and jeans. No makeup. No more mani/pedies or trips to the hair salon or Saturday shopping with the girls. But what I did have was you and your blog every morning. You were my bright spot in the day. Your beautiful smile, spirit and style gave me hope that one day I too would be back out there and that I hadn’t lost the old Mindy. You were my inspiration and I can’t thank you enough. So when the mean girls come knockin, know that you have all us here behind you. Don’t you change a thing and never let anyone dull your sparkle. You just never know who’s world you may be brightening.

Thank you Janet. Unfortunately I lost my husband this past August but by the grace of God I still have my Sam and he is physically healed and back at work. We are putting our lives back together one day at a time. I appreciate your prayers. I wouldn’t be where I am without the power of prayer. Blessings to you girl.

    • Tania
      November 19, 2016

Mindy, I don’t know where to even start. First I am saying a prayer for you and your family. I pray that the Lord has touched your loved ones and is healing them. I pray for you, that you might have the strength to care for your family and yourself. I cannot imagine how hard this past year has been for you. I am humbled beyond belief that you chose me to help you through this painful time in your life. Tears are flowing down my cheeks, and I promise you will not hear me whine again about some “mean” comment.

    November 19, 2016

LOVE the leggings! They are so popular right now and you have styled them perfectly! Keep it up, friend!!!

I work in retail and, in my opinion, when you put yourself out there people feel it’s ok to critique. Whether it’s about your clothes, hair, how you phrased something, whatever, it’s their right to call you on something they don’t like! Hold your head high, smile, thank them for the input, and move forward being the best you!!! Keep up the good work! You inspire so many!!!

Misty, you are a sweetheart. I am actually good at keeping my head high, it is my inner thoughts that play havoc with me.

    November 19, 2016

Tania, I am new to your blog and absolutely love it and love you There are allays going to be people who are just negative and critical. They can’t help themselves. If Jesus had to deal with negaive, critical people then we do too. I tell my children all the time to try not to let negative people affect them. Those people are usually people you don’t really care about anyway. Please keep being Tania. You are wonderfully and fearfully made. I look forward to your posts everyday. You’re teaching me how to put pieces together that I normally wouldn’t even consider. And you’re teaching me how to do itt inexpensively. You are a rock star in my book and most importantly in God’s book.

    November 19, 2016

The internet seems to has a way to bring out the best in people! They can hide behind their computer and say what they want without any recourse or retribution….In my opinion you are better off without that person and just keep doing what you are doing as you have many more that like your blog! 🙂 BTW, love your outfit today, the leopard leggings are great!

    • Tania
      November 19, 2016

I think so too, Sally. People say something on blogs and social media that they would never say in person.

    November 19, 2016

Tania, I read your blog pretty much every day. Your blog today hit home with me. I’m also a people pleaser and sensitive so I know how much critical comments can hurt. Some people just have that critical gene and think it’s helpful to criticize.

I’m afraid I am one of those people who unfriend or unfollow people but it’s rarely personal. I only have limited time to devote to social media and don’t want to miss a post from family or friends because my feed is cloggged up with posts I just don’t care that much about. The only time I’ve ever unfriended someone for personal reasons was someone I thought was a true friend who didn’t invite me to his wedding. I did unfriend him and a few of his close friends so I didn’t have to see the wedding pics. My feelings were really hurt and those pics just rubbed salt in the wound.

Your blog is great. You are so much more adventurous than I am but I get ideas from you to push me out of my comfort zone when dressing.

One thing I’ve done is keep a file of compliments or kudos and I re-read them when someone’s critical feedback knocks me down.

Hi Tania! You are a beautiful woman inside and out and an inspiration to so many. People who are mean are jealous and likely don’t have many friends. Thank goodness the good outweigh the bad! I have always loved clothes, jewelry and makeup, so finding your blog was like Christmas morning. Have an amazing weekend. 👏🏻

I do not like leggings, on just about anyone. At least you wear them correctly! So tired of seeing ppl (many young girls/women) who wear them as pants and you can see FAR too much. Only way I like them styled is with tall boots. If a person has thicker legs, it accentuates that, and in my case, my legs are very thin, so they do me no favors either (sticks). Too many ignore the fact they should be worn with tunics (or longer tops to cover one’s bottom). Just one gal’s opinion. Truly enjoy your blog. Thank you.

PS Does anyone else out there really dislike this ‘leggings’ trend? Just wondering? Most of us, if we don’t care for a style, just ignore responding. So I’m asking. I know I’m probably a minority. 🙂

      November 19, 2016

I’m with you about the leggings. Most people really don’t have the shape to wear them and you’re right, to be proportioned they should be worn with long tops or tunics. They should definitely cover the posterior. Tania always styles them the right way. I have seen people wearing them who are too heavy and even girls with good bodies who are just revealing every nook and cranny. 🙂 Skinny jeans and ankle pants are just so much more stylish on most women. So Nancy, I agree with you. The classics are just that: CLASSY and timeless.

And yes, Tania always styles them nicely.

    Tania,
You have brought so much fun, laughter and ‘style awareness’ to so many women across the world! You look like a million bucks everyday! You are one of the bravest women I “know” (yes, i feel like i know you after reading your blog for many months!) because you have been open and honest about every part of your life, not just the fashion, but your family, faith, friends, community work, etc. I admire you. What really stinks is that some grown women are still “mean girls” and can hurt you with a few nasty words. They are obviously not happy with themselves so they need to attack someone else. Pray that those individuals will find some happiness in their lives.
Thanks for the inspiring us every day!

Lori, I was just thinking yesterday about “Mean Girls” it was one of my daughter’s favorite movies. It is funny how some people ar not happy unless they ar tearing someone else down. I think if I am going to blog, my skin is going to have to get tougher.

Ms Tania…. Well, I subscribed to your blog because even at 57, I still like to look cute. You are a sassy fashionista with a pure heart, and a love for Jesus. It doesn’t get any better than that in my book. Remember, you only need to please Him. Keep doing what you love. 🙂

You need to remember we are all entitled to our likes and opinions. But they are just that – “ours”. We are all different and that’s what makes the world so amazing. So if they don’t like something you’re wearing or doing that’s ok. You can read their comments and if it’s something you feel led to change then do it – otherwise we can agree to disagree and move on. That’s what you need to do. Don’t let it get to you. 🙂

    November 19, 2016

Hi Tania-maybe the naysayers thought that they were giving you “instructive” criticism, but they should remember that a blog is a personal thing and that no one person can “speak” to everyone’s likes and dislikes. Though I don’t always love all your outfit combinations, (though I do love 98%), I always love your ability to pull them off and look so stylish doing so! There is ALWAYS something that I like about what you’re wearing and wish I could be as adventurous a dresser as you. I also admire your outlook on life, you are real, but uplifting. Thank-you for caring about everyone’s opinions, but don’t let them what is the essence of you!

    • Tania
      November 19, 2016

That is a fabulous percentage, Tammy! I don’t think I like them that much. Hahaha

  • Tammy
    November 19, 2016

Meant to say “don’t let them change the essence of you!”

  • Andrea@WellnessNotes
    November 19, 2016

That’s a fabulous outfit, Tania! I love the dress & the leggings are fabulous – the outfit has just the right amount of interest!

And I hear you about emails that tell you in detail what someone doesn’t like about an outfit, etc. It always surprises me when people do that as I doubt they would tell me some of the things in person…

In terms of unfollowers, I have learned to ignore them. I’ve been blogging for almost eight years, and the focus of my blog has shifted a lot, so I don’t blame some people for losing interest. Plus, I have been in situations where I ended up following way too many blogs, and it was just not possible to keep up with all…

Keep doing what you are doing! We love your blog!!!

Hi. I clicked on the link for the long sleeve version and they have it here in Canada at an AMAZING price so i am deciding which to get. What size are you wearing? Comments at Old Navy say it fits large. They also have a tall version.
I may go over and try it on at the store. Do you get “credit” if I click through the link and buy on the Canadian site? Because then I’ll make sure to do that.

Not sure how I feel about leggings. I am bottom heavy with fat thighs. I think this with leggings will make me feel pregnant looking.

As for people making negative comments, I never understand that. Someone is not going to change because of something I say. If I don’t like something then I just skip it. If it really offends me then I unsubscribe.
And someone may unsubscribe because they have too many things to read. So don’t take it personally.

    Susan

    • Tania
      November 19, 2016

Susan, don’t worry about me getting credit, the percentage is so small it is really nonexistent. Lol! I would go to the store and try one on, that way you would know what to buy later on. If you ever try leggings you will be surprised. I promise you that you would be the only one paying any attention to your thighs, especially if you wear a long tunic.

    November 19, 2016

Love this look!! Didn’t think about a printed legging with a black top! Thanks for the suggestions and am your looks.
Don’t worry about those people who are unhappy, I know it’s hard but keep what you are doing cause it inspires me!!

    November 19, 2016

A quick question. What about fit and flare dresses. Are we too old? I prefer the style but I think it’s a younger look.

    • Tania
      November 19, 2016

I don’t think we are too old, Susan. I have a couple fit and flare dresses and I think they look great. I don’t wear them real often because I carry a lot of my weight in my midsection.

  • Carole Prisk
    November 19, 2016

Love this outfit! I yearn to wear leggings but I am nearly 70, a lot overweight and use a cane. I know that ludicrous would be my look. You look adorable and I agree that young women who wear leggings as pants are too revealing . A tunic or dress over them makes it work. As for mean comments, I wish I could say that they don’t bother me, but I like to be liked. I try to be kind and honest, but sometimes my honest gets ahead of my kind . Lick your wounds , look for any legitimate criticism and decide if their comment has any merit. After my hurt subsides, I can evaluate their criticism more fairly; then I can try to make useful changes. If I decide they are just mean spirited , I’ll say a little prayer for God to sweeten them up.

    • Tania
      November 19, 2016

Carole, your argument doesn’t hold water. My mother is in her 70’s and she wears leggings. I have several friends who are overweight and they wear leggings, and my friend used to have a cane and she wore leggings. Lol!

It’s hard not to let negative people ruin your day especially when your a people pleaser. I am the same way. However I am slowly learning that it’s much easier not to have them in your life. Much less stress. On that note I will give you a compliment. I have been meaning to tell you for some time how much I appreciate you putting together outfits from department stores like TJ Maxx, Old Navy, Cato etc. While there are some other blogs I follow that have lovely outfits. They are way to expensive for this fashionista to buy. lol Keep showing people that you don’t have to spend a small fortune to look fashionable & age appropriate.

    • Tania
      November 19, 2016

Thanks, Teresa. I don’t have a small fortune to spend on clothing either, and I still want to look nice. I hate that I can’t always find my outfits online to link to, but I try to still find affordable “like” items.

Tania I read your blog daily and look forward to it, I feel
Iike you are a dear friend, and I don’t want my friends to be upset. Dont give the negative people time in your life, they are unhappy and want to make others unhappy. So go out and continue what you are doing, making others happy, it’s a gift, keep it up! Great outfit!

Oh Tania! Please don’t let one bad apple (opinion) spoil the whole bushel of fans you do have!!
You are adorable inside & out. Your blog is the first one I check & and look forward to everyday!
It’s not our job to make everybody happy or even like us! It’s our job to be the best we can be and as kind as possible to others and politely walk away when we don’t get that in return!
Every body has a struggle and sadly some have to cast that at others in a negative way! It says much more about them then it does about you!!
Have a blessed day and know u are loved!!

    • Tania
      November 19, 2016

Tanja, I need to remember the one bad apple quote. It is funny how we can get nice and uplifting comments throughout our day, and when one person says anything negative, we just throw all the positives out the window. This is an area I need to work on.

  • Lissa
    November 19, 2016

I am the world’s worst when it comes to being a people pleaser. I completely understand!!! But I have to remember what my mama always told me…”misery loves company.” Also, our pastor told us this one Sunday morning…”Everybody is not gonna like you. There will be people who just won’t see eye to eye with you no matter what you do nor how hard you try. This is when you give it over to God and leave it in His hands.” I hope this helps!!
You look beautiful as usual! Have a great day!!

So sorry anyone has hurt You, You do so much to try & help us look & feel better about ourselves & Our God…..Thank You for ALL You do!! I have a question? Are people switching from wearing hose to leggings or tights?? The reason I ask, I normally do not wear hose during hot weather anymore & had bought up enough pairs of hose to get me through the remainder of Spring & Summer…..Well, it started getting colder here in Virginia, so last night I went out to get me a few pairs to last me for awhile….I could not hardly find any at all?? There are lots of leggings & tights, but very few pairs of hose?? Am I supposed to change over to Them, & also I did not see but a very few pairs of tights & leggings that had control tops in them?? Help me, What do I do??

Shake it off, honey! The rest of us enjoy you immensely. You are my favorite fashion blogger, which is why I tune in every day. I was looking at my older sisters “lip lines” thinking I had better get started on the R&F serum before it happens to me!! Hahaha…..

    • Tania
      November 19, 2016

Haha, Nancy. Thank you for the sweet comments on my blog. I would blow you a kiss, but I have worked hard to get rid of these lip pucker lines. Haha I’ll message you about the lip serum.

Try not to worry about the negativity. Trolls are everywhere! It is not your blog or you they dislike, it is themselves. They are miserable people and feel good when they spread it around. I appreciate your willingness to try new styles and show all of us what we might want to wear. I’m 5’2′ so I don’t expect everything you style will work for me. My personality is different than yours and I live in the Pacific Northwest. Not everything will work for everyone and that is okay. I get plenty of ideas from you about colors, patterns and textures that look good together. I also love the shoes you wear and how to put them with an outfit. There is a lot going on in your blog, so don’t feel you are letting your readers down! We appreciate you!!

    Tania,
I have to say that one of my favorite things about you is how comfortable you are in your own skin, I strive for that in my life! I love your vivaciousness, is that even a word ;), in everything you do. You are beautiful and welcoming, you are that gurl that everyone wants to have as a best friend! Haters are out there…too bad that they can’t enjoy the joy of being part of lifting other women up instead of tearing them down! We are all in this together 🙂
By the way, I must say your skin is simply radiant!

I so enjoy reading your posts and looking at the fun way you put outfits together. I also like the way you mix and match clothing that is easily affordable and accessible with clothes that are a little more expensive When I retired, one of the things I celebrated was feeling liberated in choosing what to wear each day.Your blog is an excellent go to for inspiration. You seem to exude joy, and isn’t that what it’s all about? Keep that confident smile on your face! It’s your best accessory

Tania: You are adorable and I love your style and blog. You can’t please everyone and honestly, I don’t have the energy to try. You can only be yourself and if someone doesn’t like that – they should just move on. No need to leave rude comments.

    November 20, 2016

Hi Tania! I’m pretty new to your blog. I’m not quite sure how I found it. Most likely on Pinterest or through another blogger. Anyway…I just recently subscribed by email. I noticed I kept checking every day to see what you were posting so figured why not get the daily emails? I love clothes and good style but find that fashion magazines don’t have anything to offer the 40-50+ crowd. I am finding more inspiration on blogs. I love what you do! You dress youthfully and fun while still looking like a grown lady. You show us that we don’t have to put ourselves in a box and limit what we wear simply because we are a certain age. You inspire me to have fun with my clothes and to just go ahead and wear what I like. Keep being you because it’s working! And thank you for your fun blog:)

    Tania,

The long thread of responses says it all!
You are appreciated and bring sunshine into our days as well as color, imagination and wardrobe success.
Being tender hearted is a good quality.
It is part of what makes you compassionate, caring and giving!
To those that feel it is their job to re-write your blog … they can do one of their own if they have so much to say and disagre with yours!
Some folks look at everything through negative eyes and tear others down in the process. A dear friend reminded me long ago to determine 6* of separation from such negativity….
Life is too precious and fragile to waste on negativity!
Love the dress… bought it in short and long sleeves myself a few weeks back!
Love the touch of leopard! Love your blog!
    Keep on INSPIRING woman!

Tania, you are beautiful inside & out & you rock every single outfit I’ve ever seen you in! I love the way you pair the colored purse or shoes w/every outfit. I too am a people pleaser & it just kills me when I have a friend stop calling me or say something tacky. I worry about it for days. And I’ll never understand why some people just stop being your friend & you don’t even know why. But you & I have to remember “We are a princess of the King & he will never leave us or stop being our friend!” Some people just have no tact! I’m sorry people are saying negative things about your blog cause I look forward to it every day! Happy Thanksgiving, girlfriend!
