CAN YOU WEAR BLACK AND BROWN TOGETHER

50 IS NOT OLD | CAN YOU WEAR BLACK AND BROWN TOGETHEROatmeal. That is the first thing I thought of, when I looked at this picture. One of my children, and I can’t remember which, used to call oatmeal, mitt meal. It is a shame that your memory starts to go as you get older. It never fails, that the things you would like to remember, you forget. And, of course the things you want to forget, you always remember.50 IS NOT OLD | CAN YOU WEAR BLACK AND BROWN TOGETHERJoe was sitting here last week, and out of the clear blue, he says, “I can still remember my phone number when I lived in Cookeville. Do you remember it?” I took a stab at it, and had the general numbers, but it was in the wrong order. We both lived in Cookeville, TN before we got married. That has been over 30 years ago, and he can still remember his old telephone number.  Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | CAN YOU WEAR BLACK AND BROWN TOGETHERBack to my oatmeal outfit. This top was purchased last year at a street festival. There was a lady set up there that had started an online boutique, so she brought some of her inventory and sold it there. I wore this top last year (here), and I wore it over a long sleeve shirt. This time, I thought I would wear the short sleeve version, but it is a very thin top, so I have on a nude camisole underneath. The top is by Umgee, but I didn’t see anything similar online. These are the best I could do, sorry.

50 IS NOT OLD | CAN YOU WEAR BLACK AND BROWN TOGETHERI tried to style two different types of jewelry everyday, but it was too hard. I barely have time to find what I want to wear, much less look for two things. Haha What I will try to do, is mix in some different items. Like today, I have on my beautiful brown beaded tassel (c/o) from Kay & Star. Here is where I wore it last. I love this necklace, it is extra long and has an oversized tassel. Be sure to look over their items, they are unique and always very well made. Their prices are very affordable as well. Also, be sure to check out the little momma-to-be that is modeling some of the jewelry, her belly is just starting to be noticeable. Lol!

You have seen me wear these bangles a lot, I like having the huge stack. I didn’t order them all at once, only two or three per month, but I think I only like one more having them all. The problem is, I don’t know which one I still need. (Bobby, Frances, Halsey, Liza, Monica, Odette, Skye)

The shorter necklace I have on says, Rise and Shine. Since I am not really a morning person, it must mean something else for me. I am going with, Let Your Light Shine. Basically the same thing. Hahaha50 IS NOT OLD | CAN YOU WEAR BLACK AND BROWN TOGETHERThese Rocket Dog loafers are made to look like they are 10 years old. When I bought them, they looked just like this, raggedy and worn looking. These just slip on, and you’re out the door, a very easy pair to wear. I like the canvas material, and this color is perfect with almost anything.

50 IS NOT OLD | CAN YOU WEAR BLACK AND BROWN TOGETHEREverybody needs at least one pair of black pants. I have probably 3 or 4, because you have to have a skinny pair, an ankle pair, one that is a dress pair, and one that doesn’t fit anymore but I refuse to part with it. lol! These are by Old Navy, big surprise, and they have just enough stretch it them to make them comfortable.

50 IS NOT OLD | CAN YOU WEAR BLACK AND BROWN TOGETHERThis top is made a little strange. It has batwing sleeves, but since the sleeves are short, it just makes me look like a linebacker when I put my hands on my hips. Joe better not mess with me today, I think I could take him. Haha50 IS NOT OLD | CAN YOU WEAR BLACK AND BROWN TOGETHERWell gurls, it’s been fun today. I hope this post actually posts when it is scheduled. I think I like the black and brown combination so much, because of Beckley and Lucy Lu, my Yorkies. 😀

I also say I look like a linebacker a lot! not necessarily because of batwing sleeves but because of how I am built! my arms and shoulders are bigger than my husbands and that’s not anything for me to brag about because it’s not all muscle if you know what I mean! I love this outfit! it is simple, because it doesn’t have a whole lot going on but your accessories make it!!! and once again I am in love with your hair!! have a great day Tania

I have seen your photos, Amy, and you never look like a linebacker. Lol! The hair has under gone a slight change since this photo, I just haven’t put it on the blog yet.

I remember my first phone number as a child and a couple since then…like the oatmeal & black together….what happened to your left hand nails??? Looks like it hurt!

    • Tania
      September 28, 2016

It got tore off, thankfully it didn’t hurt.

I don’t mind black & brown together, but I’d probably have to insert a little color somewhere—I know it’s an addiction and I should try to tame it down somehow…

I remember my phone # growing up and my best friend’s phone # was only one # off. Mine was 235- 8095 and hers was 235-8096. I can say bc neither of us have that # and no area code, How cool is that? You look cute as a button today, as usual. Have a Blessed Day!

That’s funny. Our phone number at work is one number off from the health department. We get some crazy calls. 😆

I can remember my phone numbers from way back. Just don’t ask me about anyone’s current phone number, as I have no clue thanks to cell phones.

Very cute look and I like the layered necklaces! Rocket Dog has some of the cutest and comfy shoes. I like the worn effect they give to a lot of their styles.

Black and brown go lovely together – navy and blue too – that’s considered tres Italian (hehe).

Great outfit… Always look forward to seeing what you’re going to wear next! And my answer is YES, you can absolutely wear brown and black together… as long as it’s obvious you wore the two colors together on purpose! 😉

Thanks for hosting your link up every week!

I never thought brown and black worked together until a very fashionable friend wore black cowboy boots with a black skirt and a cream sweater… wow! She was beautiful.

My grandmother’s main phone number hasn’t changed since the early 1940s, when the prefix was “Cypress.” Dad lives in her house now, and the number is the same.

I don’t think this looks like breakfast chow at all, Tania!! In fact, I’d probably have skipped the Black and gone with varying shades of beige, brown, and nude.

I am not a brown person but I do like your look. I think I will copy you. I think the long necklace makes the look. I am a “young ” 66 year old and I really enjoy your style. I can’t wear hills anymore but do wear wedges with a small wedge. You keep posting and I will keep copying.
