HOW TO BE SPONTANEOUS

50 IS NOT OLD | SPONTANEOUSOkay, Deb, this post is for you. It is all about spontaneity, the quirks and the pluses. Some of you are planners, you like a rigid schedule, and that is what works best for you. My energizer bunny friend has almost every minute of her day planned, and she makes the most of every minute. I envy her, I would LOVE to know what I am doing next Thursday at 5:30. I might think I know, but I never really am for sure.50 IS NOT OLD | SPONTANEOUSLet’s start with today. Get up, and do my devotional. I can check that off, that went well. Go for a brisk walk with Joe, up and down some hills for 1 mile. Check! Talk to my sister on the phone while I get dressed in the morning. Check! Take pictures, and then head out to work. Check, check, check!!!50 IS NOT OLD | SPONTANEOUS

And then it all goes downhill from there. No more following a schedule, no more plans, only reacting to what the day has in store. I had planned on vouchering bills, and doing some filing. I was only interrupted at least 18 times, and there was only 3 major crises to handle. However, after a few setbacks, all is well. I am one of those people who does not get upset easily, so unless the place is on fire, I am good.🔥50 IS NOT OLD | SPONTANEOUS

After work, Sandy and I went to exercise class where my energizer bunny friend tried to kill me. Lol! Joe had our 1987 RV running when I got home and wanted to know if I wanted to go for a joy ride. Haha! First off, this monstrosity is a 1987 model, so we are talking old as the hills. It was a really nice one in it’s day, but it’s day is almost 30 years ago. Lol! So, here we go, riding around town in this huge bus!!! When we get home, my grandbaby, Emersyn, is out playing in her sandbox. We stop the bus, and I open the door and yell for her. She comes flying, hollering for Nee Nee, Nee Nee!!! She jumps in, and we drive the 500 feet to the house. She thought she was really doing something. Then Joe showed her how to blow the air horn, and she had a blast.50 IS NOT OLD | SPONTANEOUS

A huge storm was brewing, so I took her back home. Joe and I decided to sit out on the porch and watch the storm till the rain started blowing in on us. Finally, it was time for dinner, and then the blog. Could you have planned any of that? Would I trade one minute of it for a schedule routine? I think you know what the answer is. I could have said no to the RV ride, by saying I need to start dinner and the blog. But, just look at the fun I would have missed out on. There may be a day when you come to the blog, and it says, “Sorry, I was out having fun!” I hope when that happens that you say, “You go GURL!!!”50 IS NOT OLD | SPONTANEOUSThis top is not a normal choice for me. The pattern and the colors are both something that I wouldn’t normally choose. BUT, I went ahead and decided to live on the wild side and made the $12.00 purchase (QVC overstock outlet store). This top is by LOGO by Lord Goldstein.

LOGO top: Similar | Cute | Plus50 IS NOT OLD | SPONTANEOUSYou can actually see my matching earrings and bracelet today. Thanks for encouraging me to take close-up pictures of my jewelry. I will link to the Plunder jewelry, but if you place an order, you will need to put my stylist number, 241007, in the box for them to know I sent you. The earrings are called Aggie, and the bracelet is called the Edith. My necklace has been doubled to make it a chocker. Ain’t I so clever!!! The necklace is called the Arianna, and it says, Arise and Shine.50 IS NOT OLD | SPONTANEOUSI am trying to show you a close-up of my Anita necklace. All the little dangles are hard to capture in a picture. The locket opens up, for those who like essential oils to put a piece of cloth inside. The two bangle bracelets are Frances and the Halsey.50 IS NOT OLD | SPONTANEOUSI wish I had looked at my pictures before I left for work. I would NOT have worn these shoes. The shoes are super cute, but I think they cut my legs off and make them look stubby. Looking down at the shoes, you could not see the effect. Oh, well! The shoes are by C. Wonder, and they are suede.50 IS NOT OLD | SPONTANEOUSThese ivory leggings are from Wal-Mart. This is a trend, so don’t feel the need to spend a lot of money on leggings. After the trend is over, you can exercise or sleep in them. At least you will get your monies worth that way.

Did anyone notice my keys hanging on my purse with a carabiner? Haha I saw it when I took the 2nd set of pictures. Lol!

Anytime you would like to share my posts on Facebook or Twitter, I would appreciate that. It helps get my blog out to more people, and I am sure you just want to spread the entertaining sayings I have. Lol!

Cute outfit today. My husband has the RV bug. Any advice as to the pros and cons of RVing? Look forward to your post each.

I have no advice yet, Debra. We have had this think for over 10 years and I have not spent one night in it. Joe has taken it on 3 or 4 trips, but not me. If I am going to be traveling, I would prefer someone to make my bed, and go out to eat. The idea of still having to cook and pickup while I am supposed to be on vacation, just doesn’t sound that good:( However, we are supposed to take the RV on a small excursion in the next two weeks, so I guess we will see. I am sure I will write about it then.

We had a 31 foot Class C – bought it one summer to travel the country with 2 kids. BEST VACATION EVER— just short 3 states visited ( Alaska, Arkansas and Hawaii ( though we’ve been there via flight). Sold it right after. Recently bought a travel trailer and I’m excited for it. I don’t like sleeping in beds strangers have slept in ( especially when you see the 20/2- type exposes where they out hotels NOT changing sheets between quests ( I’ve seen hair in supposedly clean sheets), washing pillows/blankets/comforters ONCE A YEAR. When they put the floro lights on items they are disgusting with e-coli, body fluids, bacteria. They rinse the coffee pots/glasses in the rooms- do not exchange them with sanitized and dry them with the same cloths they use to dust the furniture and clean the sink/floor. HOTELS….even expensive hotels are only as good as the maid service ( and they are NOT paid well). I prefer my own bed, clean sheets, and not having to pack and unpack. Plus I can take my little Yorkie with me. Most RV parks are clean and comfortable and you don’t have to socialize if you don’t want to ( I prefer not, my family will join any campfire/singalong anywhere. Hope you enjoy and I’m looking forward to your post on your RV adventure.

I love this outfit – the colors r great on you and the sandals are adorable. Funny how we see often ourselves so differently from the way we look to others. You seem to get it super-right most of the time, even if you doubt yourself afterward. I actually get it wrong abt 66 percent of the time. But that is a big improvement for me. I’m still trying at age 57 to develop a sense of style. My mother even said on her deathbed 18 years ago, laughingly and lovingly, ” What are you wearing?” ( it was a great off- white linen jacket but I had no concept of how to integrate it into an outfit; I think I was wearing it w an old white t-shirt and black pants — and no accessories!) Your blog helps me imagine fun possibilities, Thx much.

Oh, Trace, your mother sounds hilarious. I bet that was a running joke with you two. And, just so you know, a whilte t-shirt and black jeans are one of my favorite looks. But for someone reason, I just keep envisioning that linen jacket to be something from Miami Vice. Lol!!!

The keys just say you are keeping it real. I love to just fly by the seat of my pants on my days off. At work I am very rigid and scheduled. Next week is vacation at the beach for me and I look forward to just doing whatever. I have a Logo top and they wear so well. Yours looks so pretty on you. I would never pass up an opportunity to be with my grandchildren. Those times are making memories for you both forever. Enjoy your week end, Going to be a hot one in Savannah.

You are so darn cute! I look forward each morning to your blog! A ray of sunshine. Too bad you live so far away from NJ, I know I would enjoy you as a friend . Love that your personality shines through your blog.

What a great outfit today! Bright and happy. You are so lucky to be near a QVC Outlet! We just get a visit every few years. The Logo top is adorable and I’m tempted to pick it up on the website but have never purchased that brand. If normally a medium, would you recommend that size or should I go up a size? Sometimes her lines looks clingy and I need to hide the muffin top!

Enjoyed the RV tale. It’s all about our attitude, too, when life interferes, isn’t it? Totally relate to your planning dilemma. For me, I plan out my mornings and evenings as much as possible but the workday always goes to the dark side, out of my control.

Hope your day is a good one!

Agree with you on the sandals, but they’d look cute with a skinny pant, just not a crop legging or pant maybe? Otherwise you look fabulous as usual

Why do I love just about everything you wear?! I think it’s only 50% the clothing, the other 50% is how YOU style it. I clicked on the link to the white and blue polka dot top from Talbots and I couldn’t believe it was the same top, it looked frumpy! Maybe we’re not all confident enough yet to try things that take us out of our comfort zone but by half tucking a top in, folding the hem of our jeans over or layering lots of lovely jewellery, we can bring a contemporary look to our existing outfits. Thanks for all the inspiration!

I agree Caroline, there are times when I go to the stores website and am shocked at how they show the product. It will look frumpy or not at all stylish. You would think they would try better.

The sandals are my favorite part of the outfit. You look lovely as well. Regarding being a planner vs spontaneity, don’t you think it is about balance? There are times we need focus and a schedule. There are also times when we need to relax and just have fun. I am more of a planner. I have a long time friend who is spontaneous. She says I have helped her be more organized and I say that she has helped me be spontaneous and to have more fun! 😊

      June 24, 2016

That is my goal, Sandra. I bought a planner, and I hope to start using it more and more. It doesn’t start until July 1st, so I have a few days to start planning my planner. Haha!

Yes living in the moment is the best way to go in my opinion. Though I’ve been spontaneous much of my life, current demands require me to schedule weekdays carefully. On weekends, though, I’m up for anything.

While it can feel discouraging to be so scheduled, being spontaneous is still possible. Things seldom goes as planned and flexibility is a must to keep sane😊 Each day I try to do one thing in the moment–that doesn’t always happen, but I try. Thanks for the reminder that life is meant to be lived and its great to just go with the moment.

I love that top. I think it looks great on you. I am such a spontaneous person. I keep trying to subdue myself but I fail. Hehehe.

One year I had to assume a semi-administrative position at school, and I KNEW I needed to be more organized – so I purchased a planner that I carried everywhere (very similar to the one the principal and assistant principal carried). At the end of the semester, I laughed ’til tears ran down my cheeks as so many ‘things to do’, lists, etc. were indeed listed on the pages of my planner, but then one after another ended up being CROSSED OUT – CHANGED or RESCHEDULED. etc. so that 6 out of 10 pages were almost illegible for all the cross-outs ! Next semester I switched planning strategy and found I did much better with a very sketchy monthly desk-type calendar – you know, the one that literally covers most of your desktop – listing literally only scheduled meetings, test dates and no-nonsense deadlines! I was happier, my family was happier, and most importantly, my students were happier. I’ve never quite flown by the seat of my pants so to speak, but I quickly found that an itemized planner was not in my future.

Tania, how do I make sure you get credit for any Plunder purchases? I clicked on a link from your jewelry in this post and it took me to the Plunder website, but I didn’t see your name anywhere on there. Thanks! I enjoy reading your blog!

I used to be upset if anything interfered with my yo do list and schedule, but then I decided to just go with the flow. I make a list of about five things I hope to accomplish each day, but if something more fun comes along, I do that instead. I call it free stylin.

    Hi
Well let’s just say I am a planner (first grade teacher). Which sometimes is not a good thing when dealing with my family. Lol
How funny your jewelry items have names that I am familiar with. Aggie is my college mascot. Ariana (spelled different) is my 22 yr. old daughter’s name.
She just saved the day helping me with my tablet.
I have white leggings but have not found a top I feel comfortable with.
    Have great weekend!!!

    June 24, 2016

Tania, I am ‘upper 60’s’ and would love to be more flexible and spontaneous. I have been an overly organized person all my life, but am trying hard now to have “Life” be more than checking things off a “To Do” List. Very difficult, as this has been may pattern all my life to “get a lot done”……I am not “in the last Inning” but I am in the Last Quarter, so I am working very hard on increasing spontaneous responses/reactions…..I say “Go for it” and don’t spend your life worrying about ‘getting a lot done’……I am not going to live with regrets, but do remember wistfully many opportunities to have fun that I turned down, as it did not fit into my schedule (!) Don’t do that, go for the gusto!
