DRESS TO PLEASE

50 IS NOT OLD | DRESS TO PLEASEWelcome to Wednesday’s Wardrobe Link-Up! Today is the last day of the free Youth Golf Clinic at Willowbrook Country Club. Several young children came out to enjoy themselves, and learn a few golfing tips. Some of you mentioned me doing a post on golf attire, and if I take the game back up, I will have to address that subject. However, I know an outfit you will not see me wearing…..that would be a very, very short dress that was worn at the US Open this past weekend. Joe and I were watching the ending of the tournament to see who would win, and he got an eye full when the fiance of the winner went out to congratulate him. The cameraman followed the couple as they took the long walk upstairs to the clubhouse. Here is a tip for everyone: when you have to constantly tug at your dress to keep everyone from seeing your private parts, the dress might be too short. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | DRESS TO PLEASEJoe and I went to church this past Sunday, and I wore this pretty green dress. It is form fitting, without being tight. It shows enough skin, without being obscene. This is the way you should wear a dress. 50 IS NOT OLD | DRESS TO PLEASEI bought this dress early this spring, but have never worn it. I didn’t want to wear a shirt under it, or a cardigan, so I had to wait for sleeveless weather. I loved the green color as soon as I saw it. I have never been a “green” person, so I was shocked at how much I liked this dress. The dress is by Calvin Klein and I purchased it at TJ Maxx.

Both of these pieces are so versatile, I have worn them with dresses AND jeans. The necklace is called Pearl + Crystal Drops Long Necklace, and the earrings are called Pearl + Crystal Floral Filigree earrings. 50 IS NOT OLD | DRESS TO PLEASEFor a pop of color, I carried my hot pink leather Vera Bradley tote that I have been carrying the past few day. I also wore a pair of high heel shoes in a very light beige/ivory color. They are by Marc Fisher and I purchased them from the QVC overstock store in town.

  1. You look great in green! I agree that we can look sassy without looking trashy. I always remember a quote I heard, if you can see up it, down it or through it, it’s not appropriate haha! What a handsome couple you and your hubby are.

  2. I cannot believe that Dustin’s wife wore that short dress. I can’t imagine chasing after a toddler in that! You look appropriate and great in green!

  3. The cut and the color of this dress is perfect for you. Fresh and classy! I love your choice of accessories. One of your best looks yet in my opinion.

  4. So nice to meet Joe. You make a lovely couple!

Great outfit and one I would wear. Flattering and nice mix of colors.

  5. Great dress and color on you. I agree with everything you said about what you wear. I work in an office and some of the older women try to dress like they are still in their teens and their whole outfit looks so not what they should be wearing. But some women do not see the same in the mirror that others see. You are doing a great job with all of the clothing you wear.

You and your husband look very happy and content. I love it. I lost my husband over 16 years ago and it is really hard to find someone now a days. Sorry pity party.

    Keep up the good work.

  6. Ha!! That golf tournament dress was the talk of the town in among the ladies in the kitchen at our church VBS last night! We all agree with you-if you have to tug at it constantly, it’s not for you!!!!

  7. The look today is very classic. Love the dress and I also love the happiness you radiate in your picture with Joe. We will be celebrating our 42nd anniversary on Wednesday. To be a couple longtime in this day and age takes a lot of compromise. So glad you still care about Joe and dress to please him and you.

    • You’re right Connie. There is a lot of give and take to a successful marriage. You have to learn to take the bad along with the good, and turn the negatives into positives. I am still learning:)

  8. You look great in that dress. I think green is a good color for you. I was watching the Open with my hubby and noticed her short, tight dress right off. Then I saw her tugging on it as she went up the steps. The next day I saw a comment on yahoo about who was more upset with the tv coverage – DJ or the cameraman’s wife. I got a big laugh out of that.

  9. My hubby and I had the same thoughts about the golf dress. Your dress though is completely lovely !

  10. Aww … sweet picture. And you look fabulous in thar dress!

I wish I could wear sleeveless but my upper arms just don’t look good.

    Have a blessed day!

  11. Hi Tania
You and your hubby look so cute together.
Your green dress really looks classy.
As for the fiance and the short dress, my husband says everything is not for everyone.
When I am wondering whether something looks right I remember when in doubt leave it out.
Have a wonderful Wednesday! It is going to be 90 here in Greensboro NC! Love it!

  12. This color is fabulous on you! You look amazing in this dress. And I love it paired with the pink bag! You are such a handsome couple! Too cute! And your opening story made me chuckle. Thanks for the laugh….and remember, girls, cover your private parts, please!

  13. I think this is one of my favorite outfits on you. Green is my favorite color and you look amazing in this dress. I love the picture of you and Joe. The look in his eye has my wondering what he is thinking. I have an idea but I won’t share it. Hahahahaha!

I guess I missed the mini dress girl. I love Caroline’s quote…..”if you can see up it, down it or through it, it’s not appropriate”. Cyndi from “Beauty for the heart” was talking about being “classy” the other day. Her quote was, “Classy is when a woman has everything to flaunt, but chooses not to show it”.

Tania, I will end this comment with one more thing…..you my dear are one “classy” looking lady. Maybe that’s why Joe has that twinkle in his eye?

  14. Class Act…Love the green on you and the style of the dress was great on you as well. You and your husband are so darn cute together!

  15. We watched the winner and his wife walk to victory at the US Open too! Wow! It would be great to have you do a post on golf attire. Just started to follow your blog and I look forward to your stories each day. Your fashion blog has humor that really clicks with your fans.

  16. I made this exact comment to Jason as she is trying to pull down her dress going up the steps. My husband was sure a flash was coming, lol!

  17. Oh my goodness, you look gorgeous!!! You look like you have an appointment to meet the Queen of England…with the addition of a hat, of course! haha I was looking at all the beautiful jewelry at Plunder, but it doesn’t say if their earrings are nickel-free or not. Can you tell me if they are nickel-free? I have sensitive ears and can’t wear just any earrings, or I end up in the dermatologist’s office. Have a great day!

  18. That dress is precious on you. AND, the two of you make a beautiful couple. I’m a little obsessed with that necklace. XOXO

  19. The hubs and I both laughed and commented about the nearly opaque short white dress at the US Open. Ha ha! Like your green dress much better.

  20. I think Ms. Gretzky got exactly what she was after last Sunday…lots of attention. (I think she was/is a model?) My husband commented on the dress as they were walking away, toward those steps. I didn’t notice her tugging at it (I was probably too busy holding my breath) but I did make the comment, “I hope she doesn’t sneeze.” Isn’t it amazing, though, how many of us saw it and had almost exactly the same reaction?

I am totally besotted with your hair!

  21. I do have empathy for that gal on TV; as a taller woman it’s sometimes hard finding dresses with a long enough hemline that aren’t frumpy. As someone else said, “sassy without trashy” can be hard sometimes. You really pulled it off here though! Love that you got your man in your photo 😉 My hubs HATES when I take his picture!
