ALL THAT AND A BOTTLE OF POP

50 Is Not Old | Bottle of PopHave you ever just felt like you had it all going on? You know the feeling, the one where you think to yourself, “man, I look good today”, or “my hair is perfect”, or “these shoes make my legs look like they go on forever.” Well, there is s a saying for that. “You’re all that and a bottle of pop.” Is that just a saying I know, or have you heard that also?50 Is Not Old | Bottle of PopI really, really hate to throw my sister under the bus again since I just did a post on her sea sick adventure, but I’ll get over it. Haha There was this shoe store in the town where my sister and I grew up. They had really cheap priced shoes. I think they were probably returns, some were used, and I have no idea where the rest of them came from. It was basically a nicer version of a salvation army. I can tell you this, my family has no problem with shopping thrift stores, salvation army stores, or yard sales. Some people might snurl (not a real word) their nose at that, but not us. Shoot, that is crazy talk. It is just a pre-loved item that is now a bargain for us.Β 50 Is Not Old | Bottle of Pop

Anyway, my sister bought a nice pair of boots from that store and was feeling so “fine” while wearing them. She was in college and wore them out one night. A girl that was in a sorority, and a “fancy Nancy” came in and sat down next to her. My sister came home and was bragging and bragging how she kept looking at her new boots. We sat there and listened to her glowing blow by blow account of this girl’s reaction and then she crossed her legs. That is when we all hit the floor laughing. She had no idea what was the problem, she thought we had just gone nuts. We could see that stuck to the bottom of her boot was a bright orange price tag that said 7.99!!! It still makes me snicker to think about that. Hahahahaha50 Is Not Old | Bottle of PopDo you remember this dress? I wore this dress casually in this post, and said I would wear the dress a little more dressy the next time. So today I styled the dress with a beige linen jacket and some nude high heels. I think it totally changes the look of the dress. This look is more “me.”50 Is Not Old | Bottle of PopThe denim dress is the perfect length, it hits about 3 – 4 inches above my knee. I like that it is a straight hem, and not one that is a high low hem. I bought the dress at Ross and the brand is Speed Control New York. I am going to steal my daughter-in-laws way of listing links for today, I liked them on her blog post yesterday.

Denim DressΒ : JC Penny, Β Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren (Plus)50 Is Not Old | Bottle of PopHere is the dreaded look from the back. You can see how the hem is straight. You also get a better look at the side of the shoes. They are Naturalizer, and they are very comfortable for a high heel. Nude heels go with anything and they always make your leg looks longer.

Heels: Naturalizer, Liz Claiborne, Sam Edelman

Blazer: 5th Parallel, Kensie, Ulla Popken (Plus)Β
50 Is Not Old | Bottle of PopI have on my bracelets that Kay & Star sent me. I asked them for the colors and they are blush, white, and serenity blue. The necklace I have on is one that was in my start-up package from Chloe & Isabel.

Necklace: Chloe & Isabel, Statement necklace, Baublebar

Tote: Clava, Dapene, Cole Haan

Don’t feel sorry for my sister, she approves all my posts before I put them on the blog. We are a sarcastic family, and it is just part of our nature to make fun of each other. We ALL try to stay clear from my brother though, he is the king of making you pay. Lol! Love you Ellery!

I saw that dress on TV in the Ross commercial. Love the story about your sister and Fancy Nancy. My mom worked in a law office once. She went to work with her Nordstrom sale tag still dangling from underneath her arm.

I’ve done that before. My worst one is those clear tags that Old Navy have on their outfits. I hate when your walking around and look down and have a clear tag with a big “L” stuck on your shirt. They all know it is not talking about my chest size. Haha

I especially love to wear new jeans with a 36″ long sticker shouting “14” to the entire world. That, I really love.

Well, she may get her revenge. I am going to let her write a story for the blog on Saturday. Everybody will want to check back in for that. After all, she is the writer in the family. This should be interesting.

This ought to be good! You two can start another blog and just tell stories about each other all you want. I was never blessed with a sister. I often wonder how we would have gotten along if I would have had one????

I love this dress and think it is very flattering on you. There are so many ways to style it and I think this jacket is one good choice. I could also see your yellow vest. Where is your video?

Great minds think alike! I wore this yesterday to work…denim dress & linen blazer! My shoes & bag were a little different but same colors!! This happens a lot! Love your blog…I look forward to it every day! You are such a hoot! If we lived closer I know we’d be best of friends…”we could have fun in a turnip patch” (an old saying from my grandmother) Hope u have a blessed day!

Hi, love the way you styled the denim dress here. I have a very similar dress (from Old Navy!) That I wear casually with the sleeves rolled up and a pair t-strap flat leather sandals…in the winter I wear it with tights and boots! Very versatile little dress.
Loving your blog, happy I came across it!

I I love the jacket and necklace with the dress! It really elevates the level of dress for the denim! Great look! Also, my husband has always said “All that and a bag of chips”. I thought that was something he made up—little did I know that a version of that has been around awhile… πŸ™‚

I have always loved a nice denim dress. It can be worn so many ways…and you, as always, make it look fabulous. I am from Pittsburgh and we say “pop” too! Not many do…I agree with Knella.
I like the new way you are linking! I think it works well. Thanks for all the inspiration!

Love denim dresses! Great style! Sister stories are the best! My sisters always have to call me the oldest sister whenever we are introduced. I tell them it’s because I really look like the youngest.

I love this look. Great for a semi casual office where you still want to look professional. I think you look wonderful in it! I love this length of dress – on other people – but not on me. I just don’t like showing that much of my “fat” knees. You (and others I see wearing this length) look great!

And Knella — we don’t say pop or soda — I call everything Coke. Ha.

      April 28, 2016

Oh my gosh! I am not the only one who hates to show my fat knees. I tried on a darling dress yesterday and when I looked in the mirror at my knees and legs I couldn’t get that dress off of me fast enough. UGH!

ROFL I think we’ve all had that “Minnie Pearl” moment with a tag dangling. My sister-in-law once bought a dress for her husband’s corporate Christmas party. When she went to put it on for the event, she found that the large, plastic inventory control tag was still attached. She wondered how she ever got out of the store without the alarm going off. Of course, they are running late, so she decides to just get dressed and stop by the store on the way to the party. She walks in to the store, receipt in hand, and….yep, the alarm goes off.

It’s funny how colloquialisms can vary by region. We usually say, “all that and a bag of chips.” Love the dress with the blazer. I hadn’t thought to put a blazer with my denim dress. Thanks!

Tania – found your blog and am enjoying it. Love the colors in your hair and your prior post with your husbands take on your style. You are looking trimmer. You have nothing to worry about with views from the back your legs look good from this view. I am always interested in the cut of a jacket from the back. Thanks for the ideas, Pat

I love the little jacket! I own a bunch in all different colours, it’s become my signiture look as it changes any outfit and takes it up a notch! I’m a fellow faith based blogger. I blog about making healthy lifestyle changes, one little step at a time. I’m going to be doing a post about feeling and dressing pretty- today. So often if we are on a health journey we wait to buy new clothes when we reach our goal.
I’d really like to link my readers to your site and your fun style. Would that be O.K. with you?
