LUCY LU UPDATE

50 Is Not Old | Lucy LuSome of you have asked about my new doggie, so I thought I would give you a Lucy Lu update. Lucy Lu was a stray that was around my house for three days before I finally caught her. She has adapted to her new home really well. 50 Is Not Old | Lucy LuPotty training has been pretty much a breeze, except when Joe had to watch her over the weekend, when I was in Tennessee. He is not the best at managing a dog’s potty schedule. Haha We sure are going through a lot of puppy pads though, if one dog uses the pad, then the other one has to go right behind that one and mark their spot. It is comical when they go outside to potty, poor Beckley has Lucy Lu right on his heels. He goes, then she goes, then he goes, and then she goes. It takes forever to get them to quit and come in the house.50 Is Not Old | Lucy Lu

Also, since we had no idea what her name WAS, she is just now starting to come when I yell “Lucy.” She is more of a wanderer than Beckley, that might be how she came to my house, so you really have to watch her closely when they are outside. The first day I was gone to Tennessee, Joe lost her. He looked and yelled till he had given up, but thankfully my son found her down the street. After that, I think her outside time was very limited.50 Is Not Old | Lucy Lu

She is also still very scared when anyone makes a quick movement. If you just walk past her quickly, she will sometimes yelp. It is pitiful the way she acts if you go to pet her too quickly. I hate to think someone was mean to her, she is just too sweet, but it makes me wonder. I hope she eventually gets over her fear.50 Is Not Old | Lucy LuAre you sick and tired of me wearing yellow? These pants are not technically yellow, I am going with mustard. Haha I was shopping one day and when I walked into New York & Company, this shirt was on a mannequin. I knew I would be not be leaving the store without it . I love this shirt! I like the color, the print, and the style. It has 3/4 length sleeves and a nice little cuff. I looked on their website, but couldn’t find the shirt, so here are ones that I did find.

50 Is Not Old | Lucy LuThe mustard pants are by Banana Republic. If you are someone who cannot wear yellow because of your skin tone, then wearing the color in a pant would work for you. I love yellow and blue together, they are happy colors. I have on a print top, but a solid shirt would work just as well. Here are some yellow pants.

Here are plus size options.

The white cable-knit sweater is really old. I bought it probably 5 years ago at TJ Maxx. My sister-in-law were shopping one day, and when we left the store, we found that we both bought the same cardigan. Here are a couple similar cardigans.

50 Is Not Old | Lucy LuHow do you like these shoes? These are Marc Fisher and they are now on sale. I like the gold rings and the cork platforms. I paid 25.00 for mine at the outlet, but they are on sale on QVC for 37.86, AND these are leather. A really good deal.

How cute is this cobalt blue tote? I bought it  before Christmas at Marshall’s for a whopping 13.99. Sometimes a small purchase can make a big statement. You don’t always have to spend a fortune to look great. This one is very similar, and at a great price.

The dress I wore on Sunday’s post was from Ann Taylor. Here is a similar one. The linen jacket is old, and it is an Ann Taylor also. Here is how I wore it the last time. The ankle boots are Marc Fisher, and they are on sale.
The comment section is at the end of the post, so keep scrolling. I look forward to reading all the comments, they make my day.

Such a pretty spring outfit! I wonder if I can wear wedges again. I should try! Recently I snagged a reversible cobalt tote (w/coupons,etc) from ON. Waiting on it now. Feels like waiting for Santa🎅🏻 ha! – I’m so happy Lucy Lu is settling in so well🐶. Glad you finally caught that lil baby!😊

HaHaHa I tried to think of stores that would work for ON, and could not come up with it. I kept thinking overstock something. Haha

Old Navy! I had to chime in and let you know how happy I am that I found your blog. Just love your style and sense of humor and your stories! I used to wear black and grey primarily and lately I have been buying a lot more color – you’ve even inspired me to buy a yellow t- shirt, which I’m hoping I will be bold enough to wear! Thanks for all of your inspiration.

Tania, ON is my shortcut way of saying “Old Navy”! I shouldn’t be so lazy! lol …and I don’t know how to link to it either! Gosh, am I ever pitiful?! Pfffft!

Was thinking about Lucy Lu the other day and wondering how she was. Thanks for the update. Glad to hear she’s doing good. I have a wanderer. She’s a beagle mix and is ruled by her nose; follows any scent of interest including our cats. That’s why except in our fenced backyard or dog park she’s never off leash. She’s escaped out the front door a few times when she was a pup and only by the grace of God we got her. Your outfit today is so cheerful. Love that combination and it looks great you. Wearing wedges always brings an outfit up a notch and yours are really nice and what a great price. Your cobalt tote makes a big statement. Hope you have a great day.

Lucy Lu is definitely one lucky dog!

You’ve inspired me to pull out color this morning for work. You usually do! Which is what I love since the happier my outfit, the better my day seems to go.

I have the opportunity to visit the QVC outlets in PA in a few months and totally looking forward to it. My husband isn’t since he fears the car trunk will be full when we leave! You’ve found some great deals. I checked out the sandals on the QVC site and sizes are limited. Too bad. I would have tried them. Adorable on you..

You will have to tell e about your QVC shopping experience when you get to go. My outlet is not an official one, so I will be interested to see what they have and how their pricing is.

Thank you for taking in Lucy. With patience and TLC she will overcome her past. My border collie wouldn’t even leave the corner of the living room for nearly a month. Now he runs and frolics in the back yard like a carefree guy. As for her being a wanderer- that can be very problematic. Maybe you could get her microchipped in case she wanders off and is found by someone?

That is wonderful Kelly, to see how a little patience and love can change an animal. I always go out with them when they go outside, and unless their is another animal to chase, they are pretty well behaved. I just hope she doesn’t decide to wander when it is pouring rain. Haha

It’s so wonderful that little Lucy Lu has a wonderful, loving home now! She sounds just like one of our rescue dogs, who came to us with an (obvious) abusive past. Freckles acted just like Lucy Lu – cowering if we moved too quickly to pet him. It was clear he had been beaten in the past and viewed our hands as potential weapons that could hurt him. It broke our hearts!! However, it took a long time (a couple of years!) but Freckles learned that we were never going to harm him and eventually his frightened response disappeared. Dogs have amazing memories but luckily they also have the biggest hearts and are also capable of forgetting a troubled past. You are a rescue angel, Tania!

The blue and yellow combination in today’s outfit is so cheery and fun! Now I really need to find a white and cobalt blue print shirt and some sunshine yellow pants! Thank you for sharing your creative clothing combinations!

I LOVE this outfit — I am going to have to get those pants 🙂 And i was totally duped, I thought that was going to be a pricey designer handbag – what a great deal you found. Please post pics of Lucy – if you have done so already, I must have missed them. I am a dog lover myself and love seeing other pups !

I was wondering about Lucy just yesterday…you read my mind! I’m so glad you kept her, now she will be safe and loved. Yes, they can get away from you sometimes – those little dogs move fast! ha I ordered that yellow vest from Glamour Farms yesterday. I hope it looks half as good on me as it did on you! You are giving me so much inspiration on how to build my wardrobe. Keep the great ideas coming!! Have a great day!!!

Tania, I’m so glad you wear color! I love the combinations you choose. Now, I would look at blue and think adding red. How boring! You added delicious yellow and everything popped. Keep showing these lovely colors!
So glad little Lucy has found a secure home with you.
