50 Is Not Old | Pop Of ColorHow’s this for a pop of color? Even though it is still officially winter, thanks Punxsutawney Phil, I am craving some “spring” looks. I already have my spring manicure, and now I have a beautiful hot pink purse, thanks to my hubby. (Valentine’s present) I don’t care that it looks a little out-of-place with the bulky sweater, that’s how I roll. Lol!50 Is Not Old | Pop Of ColorIt is even time for the drunken snowman to go back in storage. My “S” is still under construction, so I am scouring the house for something else to hang on the wall. I am sure there is something that would work out in one of the storage sheds, but since it is still about 15 degrees outside, I am not going to go spend 15 minutes looking for something. I am just going to stay in the house, and sit in front of the fire. 50 Is Not Old | Pop Of ColorThis cardigan is another thrift store find. I haven’t been thrifting in a really long time, and I hope to remedy that soon. This cardigan is a man’s sweater, but that doesn’t stop me, and it shouldn’t stop you. Go ahead and raid your husband’s, brother’s, or best friend’s closet, you never know what you will find. Here is where I wore the cardigan earlier, not a lot different. This sweater is very similar, but would probably not have all the bulk that mine has. And here is the plus size version.
50 Is Not Old | Pop Of ColorHow do you like my Vera Bradley purse that Joe bought me? The one he didn’t know he bought! Hahaha I don’t think I have ever had a Vera purse, I have tote’s, scarves, eyeglass cases, and wallets. But, I have never been a huge fan of the printed purse. I had no idea that you could even get a leather purse by Vera. (we are on first name basis) My mouth dropped open when I saw it, and I think a little drool might have eeked out. I will tell you now, that I did not pay anything close to that price. Mine was less than half of that price, so if you are interested, it would be worth finding an outlet.
50 Is Not Old | Pop Of ColorThe necklace is by Premier designs. I like that it is so versatile with all the different colors. It was a little long for this outfit, so I took the chain and tied a knot in it. I have on a shirt with a collar and a cardigan, so no one is the wiser. Well almost no one, since all of you now know. Haha  Here is a link to Ebay with a buy it now option for the necklace.

The belt just had to go, I am just not feeling like being confined today. I may not look as stylish, but I feel cooler. Really cooler, who knew that having the sweater belted tightly against my body would have been so much warmer. All together now, duhhhhh!
50 Is Not Old | Pop Of ColorIf you have followed my blog for a while, you know how I like to hang on to my clothes for years. Here, and here. My youngest child is 26, and the shirt I have on is a maternity shirt. Now, it is your turn to shut your mouth. Haha  Here is a shirt from Old Navy, and here is one from Amazon that comes in every color in the rainbow.50 Is Not Old | Pop Of ColorIt is a good thing I have a pop of color in this outfit, otherwise I just blend right into the wall. Note to self, check the paint color of your background when picking out a cardigan.

  1. I’m really liking the purse. I didn’t know there was a leather option. I’m like you, I have other Vera Bradley items, but I never bought a purse. I’d love to find a red or royal blue one! There’s a Vera Bradley outlet at Opry Mills in Nashville, so I will have to investigate that! Have a great week!

  2. I have only seen patterned Vera Bradley purses too which for me is fine for other accessories. Love the color, a nice pop to a casual outfit. I really like the look of boots and jeans and this looks great on you – minus the belt. Have a good day.

I saw last night that Cyndi had worn a similar sweater. She is so sweet and cute. She makes EVERYTHING look good.

  3. Love that Vera Bradley bag! I don’t have an outlet near me, so I might have to splurge with some Christmas money I still have left. I have always tended to go for a smaller purse but I always end up not having enough room. This one looks like the perfect size. Tania, you look fab and your comments are so clever and funny. I start my day with your blog and a good cup of coffee!

Thanks so much Cindy. I will try to not make you spit out your coffee while you are reading my blog.

  4. LOVE your outfit!! I really need to go thrifting! And I really need to visit the QVC shop in your town. I wish this post was yesterday as we were at the Outlets in Sevierville & I walked right past the Vera store 🙁
I love this bag!! Does it come in other colors? Have a great day!

It did come in other colors. It seems like I remember a blue and an orange. Maybe even more colors, and it came in different sizes also.

  5. I’m with you ; don’t throw anything out! It seems fashion keeps recycling itself. In the early 1980’s I got rid of a pair of Frye boots and I’m still in mourning over them. I love some of my Vera Bradley accessories especially the dual eyeglass case. It holds my readers and a pair of sunglasses. I am so hooked on them so I hit the outlets when I can to pick up some extra ones. I have given them as gifts cause friends always ask where I found them. Have you found the older you get the more glasses you acquire? Readers, sunglasses, driving glasses, driving glasses when it’s dark, when it’s raining, when the sun is out, glasses for the movies….ugh!

Linda, I have never seen the dual case. I will need to check that out. When I go shopping I usually have one pair of glasses propped on my head, and one on my nose. I am sure I look comical.

  6. A girl after my own heart! I have clothes in my closet that I’ve had since my freshman year of college.. I’ve now been teaching for 25 years. 😳. I just can’t let them go because I just might need them someday. Lol. My husband disagrees! I’m also a huge fan of thrifting, so I love it when I find others that do as well. I really enjoy reading you’re blog. Have a great day!

Welcome to the blog, Tracey. It is so fun when you find people who like the same things.

  7. Glad you ditched the belt! It just was not doing a thing for the outfit! Did not know Vera had leather bags! Never cared for the print purses, but the pink is very cute! I wouldn’t be hunting in that shed yet either! The snowman can stick around a few more weeks!

I found something in my daughters room, and will be using it in the next couple of shots. Hopefully it will work.

  8. I love these layers and totally think the pop of color works! That bag is great! I’m sure you will get a ton of use! And funny! I got some shoes that the husband doesn’t know he got me! 🙂

  9. I loved the belt. I would have tried the belt on the shirt. Would that have been wrong?? But as always you are stylin!!

    • Tania Reply

That might have worked, Debra. I have tried that with a poncho, I don’t know why it wouldn’t work with a cardigan. I’ll put that in my “next time” file.😘

  10. Love a big over-sized sweater! I found one on ebay in alpaca wool (dark, charcoal gray). I love it styled casually, and it looks nice dressed up too. It’s so warm & cozy! Good investment! Your pink purse is so pretty! I must be the odd-ball that actually likes the printed VB handbags. I love me a tote! – Love your jewelry, Tania!

  11. As much as I love a big comfy cosy sweater when it’s cold, but I’m ready for some spring colours too! I have been fighting the urge to purge/box up my closet of fall/winter and bring out my spring clothes. 🙂

  12. Hi Tania! I just discovered your blog recently and I love it and you! I’m home recovering from breast cancer, surgery and chemotherapy and your blog brightens my day!! You’re so real and down to earth and I love your style. I also have lost 100 lbs this year ( not from the cancer!) So I’m trying to find my “new” style and you give me such inspiration! Thank you for doing what you do! I look forward to checking in every day!

Michelle, I am so glad I can brighten your day. And congratulations on the weight loss. I hope your recovery is speedy and you are up and shopping for your new style in no time. Thanks for taking the time to comment. You are now my inspiration 🙂

  13. Love the sweater and love the purse. You look great as usual. I would be self conscience in the belt, but it looks nice on you.
I love that you have clothes as old as your kids. You make me feel normal, haha.

  14. I love the purse, and didn’t know that Vera purses came in leather either. I loved your outfit, but I liked it without the belt too. I think the belt chopped your outfit in half. Without the belt, your outfit flowed effortlessly.
Howver, it’s always good to try new looks. With this, you added a belt, and it was easy to remove. So kudos for trying it both ways. It’s funny how a belt can sometime make an outfit, and other times it just looks better without.
I love how you added the pop of color, without matching it to the outfit. Way more youthful, and on point.

  15. I really enjoy your fun posts and your great pairing of outfits. But…… The Christmas decorations in the background are really taking away from your photos. Just my opinion.

    • Tania Reply

Tami, they went down his morning. Haha Tomorrow’s post will have something different in the background. I really need to get my “S” finished!

  16. Thank you so much for including me in your post! I’m so flattered. 🙂 And I love the pop of color from the bag.

Thanks again and hope to see you again next week!!

    Jen

  17. Great outfit. So casual and comfy, but you take it up a notch with the purse, necklace and boots! We have to do something to get through the long winter! Love your posts!

  18. Ran across a Pinterest post with big sweater, and her wide belt was worn low on the hips under the sweater, giving the blouse a more tunic look. – I can see that with your outfit here! 📷
