Opposites Attract

Wednesday, December 9, 2015

DSC_0046I have always heard that opposites attract, but I just thought that referred to love. However, I now see that it can apply to fashion. Black and white, stripes and houndstooth, are opposites that just go together.DSC_0045_3There is just something about this outfit that I love. I can’t really put my finger on the exact reason. I have always loved black and white, it is of course such a classic combination. Stripes and houndstooth are also classic patterns, but until recently, they were not patterns I would have worn at the same time. DSC_0043This sweater is from Cato, and the zipper embellishments turn an ordinary sweater, into something extraordinary. But let be honest gurls, the black panels on the sides are really slimming. I was looking on the Cato’s website and passed up the sweater, I finally found it on the second pass through. I like the way I have it styled, better than the way they did. HahaDSC_0042This necklace is one of my Stella & Dot purchases from my trunk show. I like that all the pieces come apart, so you can wear this in several different ways. The earrings are from Chloe & Isabel. These are really nice pieces, however I would probably never have purchased either if I hadn’t had a trunk show which allowed me to have several half priced items, and even some free money.DSC_0045The bracelet is a Stella & Dot purchase from last year’s trunk show. Haha  It is now retired, but here it is on ebay.  The purse is a vintage find from way back. It caught my eye, because of the gold closure. I just think it looks smart. I take every opportunity I can, to look smart. Lol!  The houndstooth pixie pants came from Old Navy, last year I think. I bought these shoes ages ago. They are at least 3 years old, and are Michael Kors. DSC_0043_2Yesterday a lady commented on my Facebook page, “ENOUGH, Get over yourself”! I have to admit that my first response was to laugh. Actually, I snorted loudly. My second response was, really lady? You can simply hit the unlike button, why do you feel the need to be snarky? In reality, this is the very reason I have not made my blog known to those in my community. So how do I have a blog on fashion, post pictures, and tell stories about myself, and it not be about me? At the same time, I don’t want to be like, “ain’t I something”. So, I am now putting you guys on the “Calm yourself down” patrol. After all, my charming wit should be center stage. Lol!

Funny, the lady with the ‘get over yourself’ comment may need to get into herself. A bit of self love goes a long way.
I love the little black purse!
I wear a lot of black.
    Keep it up, girlie!

Looking very smart indeed! 🙂 I love that sweater and agree you styled it much better, you should be a model on their website. I’ve never heard of Cato…..can’t wait to check it out! What size sweater are you wearing? By the way, people who leave negative comments like that are miserable….tell them to take their negativity and hit the road.

Pay no mind to the negativity……. keep doing your thing. I pinned something on Pinterest yesterday – “Call me crazy, but I love to see people happy and succeeding . Life is a journey, not a competition.” We’ll just pray for those haters 😉

She needs to remember manners. If you can’t say something nice say nothing at all. I love your blog and read it everyday. I like to see how far you take your fashion and challenge us to try new ways of wearing. From what I have come to know the people who complain are not really mad at you. You are just a public target. Have fun, laugh loud often and continue what you are doing. You are a real inspiration to me.

Oh my goodness, thanks ladies. My mother called me and was so mad at the lady, but there will always be someone out there with a negative attitude. In the words of the great Taylor Swift, “Haters gonna hate”. LOL!!!

My first reaction was NOT to laugh. But I think I speak for both me and our mother, we will never let you be all “ain’t I something!” We’ll let you know. Until then, keep on truckin’! xo

When I read that comment, my first thought was, that must be a close friend joking. Wow! Sad to see it wasn’t. I enjoy your posts and look forward to them everyday!

Oh my word…that person needs to chill…(or get a life)… I agree with Miss Maggie: it’s refreshing to find a fashion blog like yours. Of course we all tune in for your sense of humor too! There’s enough negative bad stuff going on that we don’t need any more of it. P.S. Love the outfit! Black and white is always chic.

Some people! I think you’re funny and precious….if we lived in the same town, we’d probably be fast friends!

Cute outfit. I love the mix. I laughed a little at myself, remembering in another life, when I worked for a large bank, I wore a fuchsia cashmere sweater set with a hounds tooth skirt and felt like I was pushing the envelope. Maybe I was….for the banking industry! LOL Being a teacher allows me to be “snappy casual” pretty much every day. ; )

Super cute! Never would’ve thought to put this together. On another note, I checked out Cato online (had never heard of it before) and found a very cute fair isle sweater that with shipping was only $20. VERY happy about that one!!
    FB lady is extra cranky…sheesh.

You are my favorite blogger. The only thing I ever disagree with you about is that you need to lose weight. You look great. I am getting ready to retire and had been thinking about joining a service club but I can’t find one in my area (indp’s). Your club sounds awesome. Keep on writing (some time you will have to show us how you organize your clothes & bling)

Tania, I love your blog and have followed your blog for several months. Like you, I like to shop at TJ Maxx, Catos, etc. You have inspired me to step up my style. I have shopped the last few weeks and asked myself, “Is this something Tania would pick out and wear?” Not that I want to copy you but I love your classy style. Who knows i may try mixing stripes and checks. ????Remember people lash out at others when they are either jealous and unhappy with themselves. Thanks for being yourself and sharing your life with us!

Sara, I don’t think I have ever had anyone ask, “is this something Tania would pick out”. I am extremely honored. Thank you for following along on my crazy ride.

Tania you look fabulous! Love the sweater, and would have never thought to pair it with those pants but it really looks great. The shoes and accessories are perfect! Sad to hear about the ridiculous comment someone left you. I saw a saying recently that I think applies to the rude commenter, ” they hate you, cuz they ain’t you.” I think it speaks volumes about the kind of person that does that. You certainly did not deserve that comment. Okay, movin on…….I love your blog and am SO happy I found it. I always look forward to reading your posts. Keep it coming! ????

I never understood how people become so rude behind a computer. I have always been taught, if you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything. Speaking of something nice, I LOVE this outfit, those shoes are so fab with it.

Thank you for being a part of TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you soon!

You are so cute you look good in everything. I have a request….is that allowed? I am over 50 and a realtor. I would love to see what you would put together for “work” I outfits.

    • Tania
      January 8, 2016

Well, Susan, you probably mean dressier work outfits. I go to work everyday in what I wear, but I work at a lumber company, so my dress code is not very strict. I like skirts with tights, long maxi dresses that hide my legs, and dress pants with jackets or vests.
