I’m On Top of the World

DSC_0357No, I am not on a cruise ship recreating the movie scene from the Titanic. Instead, I am co-hosting a linkup with Nicole Mölders called Top of the World Style. This is a first for me, and I am beyond excited! I have appeared on linkups, and have even been featured, but I have never co-hosted.DSC_0358For this special event, I decided to wear a new jacket I purchased at Cato’s. It is a beige faux suede moto jacket that is as soft as butter. It is cute, comfortable, and affordable. That is a trifecta for fashion. The cost is 44.99, and here is the link.DSC_0362I try to wear simple clothing when  possible. I work in a lumber company, and obviously I am somewhat limited to how far I can push my fashion choices. As it is, I sometimes get a few eyebrow raises. All that to just tell you I like to wear a top, a pair of pants, and a jacket or cardigan. That is almost always my “go to” type outfit. I wanted this jacket to shine, so I decided to keep the pants and top the same color. I added a scarf I bought at Target a couple of weeks ago. The colors were perfect for this jacket. Here is a similar from Target.  DSC_0357I didn’t wear any jewelry, none, zero, zilch. I don’t know if I have ever done that before, I  must still be sick. I  did, however, decide to wear a new lipstick. It is called Vampira, and is from Kat Von D.  It is a long lasting liquid lipstick and can be found at Sephora for 20.00. I read somewhere, that older women should not wear dark lipstick. I of course had to immediately go out and buy a tube. This is darker than I have ever worn before, but I don’t think it looks horrible. What do you think?DSC_0363The bottom half of my outfit will be familiar to those of you who have read my blog before. I carry this Dooney & Bourke purse, that I bought at a QVC outlet store, almost daily. The booties from Marc Fisher are another outlet store find, and a fall staple for me.DSC_0362_2Linking up with Katherines Corner for Thursday’s Favorite Things, A Labour of Life, East Coast Chic, Happiness at Mid Life, Mix & Match Fashions, High Latitude Style, and Doused in Pink for Thursday Fashion Files. Be sure to check these ladies out.

I want to introduce you to my co-host of Top of the World Style: Nicole Mölders is married, has one cat, no kids. She is a fashion, and science enthusiast from Fairbanks, Alaska and the blogger of High Latitude Style – an Alaska fashion blog with science bits for the stylish 40+ woman. She shares how to dress stylishly on trend and shows that 40+ is way too young to give up having fun with fashion (and heels).

Now let’s get the party going. Everyone of any age and gender is welcome to share their fashion and style posts.

The jacket is fantastic! I love Cato Fashions, too. Their price point is perfect for my budget and they are right on trend. I only recently discovered my local Cato store and I am so glad I did (although, my bank account may not be as happy about it!).

And the darker lip color looks great! I don’t often wear lipstick, but I have always leaned toward to the darker shades anyway even if I am over 40!

Love the jacket and how you styled it with the scarf. The lipstick is way too dark. Looks too Morticia Adams!

I have never heard of Cato but it looks great on you and so does the new lipstick color. I think dark colors for older women like us is fine – it’s all about how you feel with it.

Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you next week.
