THAT SONG IS STUCK IN MY HEAD

Thursday, April 14, 2016

50 Is Not Old | That Song Is Stuck In My HeadDo you hate it when a song is stuck in your head? The other day we started singing “Where is Thumbkin” and now that song is stuck in my head. Don’t ask why I was singing that song in the first place. Haha Get ready to have a bunch of songs swirling in your brain, I am going to name my favorite songs.50 Is Not Old | That Song Is Stuck In My HeadWho Let theDogsOout? Who, who?  Lol! I sing this almost every time I take the pooches out for a potty break.

Jeramiah was a Bullfrog. Such a good friend of mine. Ribit Ribit! This was a favorite of my sister and mine when we would be on the way to the lake.

Macarena. Oh goodness, that song drove me crazy. About as bad as Gangnam stye. Lol!

Fergie and the black-eyed peas song, My Humps, my humps, My lovely lady humps.

And one of the worst, Mickey!  Oh Mickey your so fine, your so fine you blow my mind. Hey Mickey50 Is Not Old | That Song Is Stuck In My Head

Today’s outfit is one that I would put in the classic category. It is basically monochromatic, all in grays, navy, and white. My sister will LOVE this outfit. I really like the top. It is one that I bought at Cato’s a couple months ago. It is gray and white stripe, but it is the twist at the hem that separates it from an ordinary top. Here is a similar top that is now on sale. Here is the best I could do for a plus version, but hey, it is only $6.00. You better hurry before they sell out. Lol!50 Is Not Old | That Song Is Stuck In My Head

My dark navy jacket is from Izod and I think I bought it at JC Penny several years ago. I have a jacket in black by Worthington, and they look so much alike that I couldn’t decide which one to wear. In the end the navy won out. You need a navy blazer! Everyone needs a navy blazer, they go with almost anything. There are thousands to choose from, but here is one that is similar to what I have on in a misses and plus size.50 Is Not Old | That Song Is Stuck In My HeadI am carrying an Aimee Kestenberg gray satchel with gold hardware. I love this purse, even though it is quite a bit smaller than some of my other purses. The shoes are by Marc Fisher, and they are black (wasn’t sure if it showed up black or navy) with gold hardware. 50 Is Not Old | That Song Is Stuck In My HeadThe dreaded hiney shot. Haha I have tried, and there is basically no way to look slim from this angle. Might as well tell you about the pants. They are a nice thick stretchy material, with no pockets. They are by Jules and Leopold. Here is a similar pair under 15.00, and this pair goes up to a 24W.50 Is Not Old | That Song Is Stuck In My HeadI can’t believe I made another top blogger over 50 list. This time Jo-Lynne included me in a list of some fantastic bloggers over 50. It may be just me, but do you think it is coincidental that I started the Draw The Circle devotional Last Monday, and I have made TWO blogger lists this week? Me neither!!!

You’ll be singing that all day now. Hahahahahahahahaha

Okay gurls, I need some input from you. I started a youtube channel to upload a video of my outfits daily. For those of you who have asked for a back-side shot, etc., you can see the outfit in all directions. Look it over and tell me honestly whether to continue, or just quit while I am ahead.

The comment section is at the end of the post, so keep scrolling. I look forward to reading all the comments, they make my day.

This is also something I WANT and NEED: I have added a subscription button to the blog, right under the recent posts tab. I would appreciate it if you would take the time to sign up. You will then be notified by email when a new post is made.

I I think the you tube turned out very well! My favorite part of your blog is that you have your personal style, but are willing to experiment with shape and color. That keeps your blog interesting.

The worst song to get in your head is Billy Boy. It drives me crazy. About the navy jacket, I never know what to wear it with. I am watching closely for lots of ideas. I typically wear black, brown or dark gray pants. I did invest in some white jeans, just have not worn them yet. Loved the YouTube. Keep them coming.

A++ for outfit and video! But, why not say a few words on the video? It would be fun to actually hear that southern twang! (Yes, I’m a Yankee..haha!) I read your blog daily, and am always wondering why you comment on the “behind”shot. I was one of the suggesters of that view, and you really do look just fine😊

Alison, I did a couple videos where I talked about the outfit, but you could hear so much road noise it was distracting. If I can ever figure out a quite place to record, I might try again. I don’t think I have a southern drawl, but I bet you would. Hahaha

Look forward to checking out the You Tube Channel. I am petite and plus size, 12 usually (barely) with rolls and a muffin top. You wear so many elastic waist pants. I want to try some but all of my tops are fitted so I will have to regroup. Living near Knoxville where would you suggest I shop and try on these pants? You are an inspiration with your faith, your fashion tips and your wit! Look forward to your blog each morning with my coffee. Like a friend chat! BTW I check out many of the fashion blogs and have for some time. Biggest difference IMO you are REAL! I do not look at your prices and think REALLY! 🙂

Love what you’re wearing today. In fact, I love everything your wear! I liked your video because I think it “captures” or shows more of what you’re wearing than what the photos do. (I’m not being critical of your photos, tho!) Love your blog!

I can’t wait to open your blog EVERY DAY! The video is a good start….sometimes a close up shot would be great, but I like it! Love the outfit. Have you tried Poshmark for some great buys? Its an online resale shop. Lots of times you can get something nwt—AND you can sell. I’m not trying to sell you on it, just wondering if you’ve tried it out. Let me know and I’ll send you a link—we each get $5 off!

I am so happy I found your blog! Your styles are great and your suggestions on where to buy work for me. I can’t always afford to buy clothes at high end stores so it is nice to see things come from places like JCP. Thank you so much for being down to earth.

The video is a great addition to your blog. Its short. (I have a thing against videos over a minute long.) And it shows the outfit off WAY better than the still photos.
I had a neighbor at my old house (when I was single) that got off work early on Fridays. He would get him an adult beverage and sit out in his front yard and watch the world go by. When I drove up at 5 pm, he would serenade me with “Nikki Nikki your so fine, you almost make me blow my mind, Hey Nikki”
ahhhh those were the days, my friend
    🙂

The good news is that I love the outfit..especially the shirt. The bad news is that I’ll now be singing most of the songs on your list all afternoon. Did we ever find out who DID let the dogs out?

    April 14, 2016

Very cute. Loving the sandals especially. Yes to the videos.

Considering my name, you can imagine how I would be serenaded when I met some boy who wanted to flirt with me. The best way to get me to walk away, is to sing to me about working in a bar, waiting on some sailor. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. (My father had been in the Navy prior to having a family, and owned a restaurant/bar for a while when I was a kid. Not casting stones.) It’s just not even close to who I was or am. LOL I hate that song. Now it’s stuck in my head. Thanks. : P

Seek first the Kingdom of God , then all other things will be added unto you… Yes, I believe God sees that you are putting Him first and He is rewarding you! You deserve to be on the best bloggers over 50 lists!!! My stuck-in-the-head song for today is “Goody Two Shoes” by Adam Ant. (You know you love this song too, admit it. hee hee) The YouTube video was great, you’re a natural at modeling. Tell me, when is your son Joseph going to post more videos on his channel? He’s hysterical and I’m way overdue for a good laugh!

“Old Time Rock & Roll” (girl) that’s me Appreciate the back view. I can’t tell you how many times I put together a look, took it out for the day, then caught a shot of the uhum rear and was mortified to see what it looked like. While I don’t have a 3 way mirror like I wish I could. I’ve learned to twist & crane to get the back shot too. Thanks.
